Recommend me some Dubstep.
Recommend me some Dubstep. Posted on: 11.11.2008 by kieran frearson I have been asked to make a mix for a friend with dubstep, and frankly, I do not know where to begin, since its not really my style of music. I LIKE it, and I have some stuff, but not that much. Its not my world so to say. I would like to get some more though, and I would like to make this mix for my dear friend (Its for his housewarming party in 2 months). I told him he can download some of the internet (there are plenty of mixes available online) but he just wants ME to make a mix haha Stubborn fuck! (Well, I do feel flattered!) So, could you people that are into the Dubstep recommend me some Dubstep? I dont mind if its dark or light, as long as it grooves! Thank you very much in advance! (In return, I will post the mix here, if its worth anything lol) Kind regards, Nemo | |

Matt Kane 02.06.2009 | oh and by the way: there is a subgenre called gorestep! borgore is one of the best in this genre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6ukn...740B6&index=32 oh and by the way...that track here left me singing the lyrics for about three days...beautiful track and just 3 notes that made it that perfect! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVpjPuzlvus |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 30.05.2009 | Yeah that La Roux remix is requested more than the original which i do not understand beacause there is no beat in it for 1:49 mins ... People will just stand there looking around until it gets going. You gotta play it over the beat of the previous track and loop it . No matter how much you get nagged to play that track i does not work in the club played on its own. |

This is the show that is widely considered to be the first 'introduction' of the dubstep genre to a major audience. It was first aired in 2006 and re-broadcast in 2008. I still have this broadcast in my Favorites playlist on the 'pod. Here is a link to the show and the playlist --> http://www.breaksblog.biz/dubstep-wa...lock-10012006/ You can't get your dubstep badge without listening to this show. |
Verona Fashbaugh 30.05.2009 | Loving that In for the Kill remix! Actually another question. Are there like sub-genres of substep? For example, with drum n bass theres like liquid and all that. Again, just curious, |

Verona Fashbaugh 30.05.2009 | Quick question actually. Not that I'm one of those people that doesn't like music without a vocal component, but does any dubstep ever have vocals? I'm just curious. Or is it more of a "if it has vocals it can't be dubstep" type thing? |
Victor BlueDragon 29.05.2009 | Steppin Outta Babylon. Kinda on the soully side of dubstep. Sometimes sounds out of place with other dubstep tunes, but great for dropping into eclectic mixes. |
Matt Kane 29.05.2009 | oh by the way...check out this beautiful the streets remix! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlZXKKUiy_U <edit: why is this thread in the mixes section?> |

Marshall Aby 24.02.2009 | If you fancy mixing it up, have a listen to Skream's remix of La Roux 'In for the Kill'. The voice suits the dub, it's quite dark and minimal and then switches at the end into some breaks. Nice |
Adolf Hit 24.02.2009 | 16 bit brings the heat, cept for that tune M dot Mosley. Think that tune needs an insane system to drop it on, whenever I have played it out ive always mixed out real quick. + the vocal sample is really hard to bring out over anything else |
