Jacki Margritz 19.10.2009 | Hi all! My name is Henrik, and I go by the dj name Drix. When I started out around '97 I called myself Lovedrix, but as the joys of 90's housemusic fell dead for a while and I turned to the darkside I skipped the Love part and went on as just Drix. Today I play a range of genres depending on evening , mood and crowd, but my main style is techno. Ranging for crowdpleasing bangers and mashup hits to deep dubby and dark. If the set is a long one I try to squeeze in som other genres as well to keep the set interesting and dubstep, elektro, hip hop and rock might all fit the bill on a good evening . |
Joannie Brague 15.10.2009 | I forgot to do this a while back so here it does. Priscilla (26) Los Angeles, CA Electro, dubstep and everything in between This site got me back into something that I fiddled with when i was about 14. I started music way back with a drumset then got the guitar then got my first midi keyboard, went on a haitus due to finishing college and entering a design school and just got back into it about a year and half ago. I def. turn to music when i am frustrated with design. It's been a savior and this site has def. been one too. The tunes I produce are nothing like the tunes that I mix. My work has been described as that of Radiohead and stuff that should be on the soundtrack for the Matrix. Besides all of that stuff I love riding my fixie bike in Downtown LA, doing design, and helping people out with what I have learned from this site and my involvement with music since I was young. Much love to everyone out in the djtt community. |
Naida Wilbar 12.10.2009 | Hello - My name is Jim.First off here is little about me....I do produce you can check out my latest album http://cdbaby/technicaprojections..actually I do not produce anymore.I also created from the ground up Electrogroove Records, which I sold last year because it became to large for me to handle.I had artists from all over the world which I brought up and sold their contracts to EMI out of Switzerland....I know want to dj.I use Traktor pro and in a few weeks I'm purchasing the Vestax VCI-100SE. Although I do not have a mixer yet, I'm still tyring to master mixing. Its tough getting that smooth transition from one track to another and to be honest I have no clue what I'm doing.I do not even understand where EQ mixing comes into play, so if you have any suggestions that would be awesome. I'm also from Kansas and let me tell you there is no scene here at all, so I can not hook up with anyone who could teach me a bit. This site is awesome and I look forward to getting to know other dj's and I hope I can learn from you. |

Cristian Carmona 10.10.2009 | Welcome all, see you all in the community s! |
Dotty Fadeley 10.10.2009 | Late Intro Im 26...live in the US (Orange County, CA) I've been DJing since I was 16...with one foot on the other side and one foot in the 9-5. I had the internal itch and wanted to "scratch" so I saved up a Summer job's worth of pay to get 2 tables, mic and a mixer with a 20sec sampler. I found out the hard way that no-name belt-driven tables and a mixer wouldnt let me sound like Q-bert. After more work and a little help here in there I got a proper setup (2 12's, proper cartridges and a decent mixer). During this time my long love for electronic music grew and my attraction towards a declining "hiphop" scene decreased. Late evening college radio stations pounding out EDM by the likes of John Kelly and Tall Paul and any hint of the vibe I caught made my pulse race with passion. Venturing out to http://drfreeclouds.com/ and other local record shops every once in a blue moon only fueled the passion. Then I discovered the concept of my 1st "online record store" back in the dial-up days, AOL and "Rave On" 'chat rooms'. Spending 95% of part-time school job cash on 12" was a dream and exposed me to a beautiful world of what I affectionately call "Techno". My limited knowledge of electronic music went from ambient & LA/Chicago Hard House to learning the roots of electronic music and loving the evolving modern genres. I then bit the bug and hit my 1st event (a massive at the LA Sports Arena). From then I dove head 1st into the "scene". I followed the beat everywhere for about 5 yrs from the dank warehouses to the mountain forest to the desert. I had some great memories during this time but never fully devoted myself to my craft (to this day). I recently transitioned to the "digital" side and got a VCI and Traktor. I love it and am trying to make the most of my time and am trying to "get out there"....while being married and having a 9-5... I guess the highlight of my "career" was spinning on a university's radio show http://riderskuci.pitas.com/ My styles are Techno, House, Prog, "Trance" and everything in between (EDM). I also play with Ableton, a BCR2000 a Trigger Finger a Korg MS2000 and a shit load of VST. Im looking for somebody in the OC area to practice, party with, grab a beer with. (oh shit...it said "intro"...not life story.......oh well) |
Edris Acevedo 09.10.2009 | Hi all, Audio Aerosol. Thought i'd sign up seeing as though I've just bought a VCI-100SE. Can't wait to get playing. From the UK couple hours drive from London. Play mainly Breaks/house |
Oretha Meny 09.10.2009 | Hey Everyone, I usually go by Roland H. or my full name. From San Jose/San Francisco, CA I listen to pretty much all styles of music, the same goes for DJing. I'll throw anything on that gets people moving (hopefully not out the door haha). I would say I mainly spin progressive house/trance, deep/tech/funky/electro house, and Drum&Bass. The rest I dabble in just a bit. I sold my turntables a while back and have been using my mouse and a copy of traktor since then. I still have a wall full of vinyl that i mostly just sample from. I just recently picked up a VCI-100 as well as some other studio gear. I've been really getting back into production and mixing. |

Liberty Brodbeck 02.10.2009 | Hello everyone! My name is Gabe and I haven't really given myself a DJ name since I have yet to obtain a physical DJ setup. I hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, great place to live btw! But yeah, I've been just been reading and lurking here for the past year since I haven't bought my own VCI. I'm almost to the point where I want to sell my car for something cheaper and use the extra money to buy myself a vci and soundcard I live for the beat drops and love dancing to all electronic music. I guess the reason I want to be a DJ is to spread the joy of dancing to electronica with the rest of the world. I want to help get rid of the negative views a lot people have towards electronic music. I come from a more rock oriented background, I even play guitar and sometimes I dabble with my friends drums or bass. But I've always had a thing for Trance, House, and Techno and all their different sub-genres. I don't have a favorite, it's usually just whatever gets me groovin! My current gear would be the PC I built last year for about $500 since I just wanted to upgrade my mobo/cpu/gpu from my 05 setup. I have a M-Audio Axiom 25 hooked up to Reason and Ableton which I mess with sometimes. But my newest toy would by my new Macbook Pro 13" compliments of Ex California Governator Grey Davis. I've barely touched my PC since I got my laptop, all I can really say is Snow Leopard is a breeze to use! This site has already taught me a lot about the digital DJ world and I hope to continue to learn more so that I can make people dance in the near future! |
Elton Ham 02.10.2009 | Hey guys... My names Steve or Stephen... don't really have a DJ Moniker as yet. I'm 26 from Manchester UK and brand new to DJing!. Thought i'd take it up as a hobby as i've always been interested in music and the music scene. Love dancing to it.. so why not DJ to it! I was looking for a piece of gear i could practice DJing on, learn the techniques and learn how to mix well. So i browsed community s and YouTube videos etc for a while. I then came across the VCI-100 which seems like a great piece of kit to get started on (I already own a 15'' MacBook Pro). Anyway.. i've ordered the custom arcade VCI100-SE to get started on, so my plan is to hook that up to my macbook pro and just get used to how it works etc etc. Next pay cheque I intend to buy a decent external soundcard, upgrade Traktor LE to Traktor Pro (and import the mapping files from DJTechTools) and get a decent pair of headphones and then i'm set (i believe!?). The genres of music i'm most interested in at the moment are:
Anyway, Just thought i'd say hi as a new recruit to the DJTechTools community! Stephen. |
Candace Carmouche 02.10.2009 | guess i should post in here too.... lets see... im 35 live in orange county, ca i started promoting in the scene around 13 or 14 years old. i believe the first party i went to was 0 |
Kecia Wnukowski 30.09.2009 | Hello guys, first post here. I've just discovered the site a few days ago. I found here many answers to some questions I had, got nice advices too, I just love the idea of modding a controller, in fact I found here many things I wasn't able to find elsewhere. I've been djing for the last past 10 years (but I used to be a rave kid from the early 90's), I started with vinyl, switched to cdjs two years ago and just got into Traktor pro and controllers. I received last week my brand new Xone 1D and 2D last week and I've worked on them since then (three days to finally manged to get only one led on the four switches to light up for deck focus where the solution was so simple after all!! argh). I already incorporated some of the tricks I found on the site or from Ean's videos (by the way you rock!) on my mapping. All that, just to say I'm hooked! Thanks guys for the inspiration and the dedicated work on the site. Chris |

Phillip Wienk 21.09.2009 | My name is Carl, I'm new to the community
, and pretty new to DJing. I am from detroit and grew up on house, techno, booty, and hiphop. I have a cousin who is a dj that regularly travels the world with his crew, and I always listened to the mixes that they would make. After years of stockpiling music I decided to torrent dj software and try mixing it, and then I started to believe I could develop the same ear that my cousin had. I am pretty much keeping my mixes inside my apartment, but I post 10 minute chunks regularly on esnips. I look forward to taking it up a notch in the year to come. |
Latoria Kavulich 21.09.2009 | you had me at psy mate. welcome! |
Nilsa Erben 21.09.2009 | I honestly cannot recall exactly what I was searching for that led me here. Might have been looking for reviews of CD players for DJ's. At first I was like...this looks like a neat place, open to new things, a bit out there for a guy like me just starting out. Then I came back, and back again, read a few more articles, and I was like - jeez, this place is *really cool*. I wish I found it before I dropped some money on a much to basic to do much with CD DJ rig. Oh well, with time and a bit of frugality I can correct my mistake and maybe learn a bit here so when I am ready to make the leap, I won't be fumbling my cue points Short bio: Bedroom DJ in the early 80's - made mix tapes for friends, never played live. Lost interest in that - but in the late 90's started listening to various electronica, and in the early 00's discovered di.fm Chillout. Started buying CD's. Recently decided to make a stab at spinning live, bought a rig, soon found out it can barely do anything (Stanton: 2x Stanton S300's and SMX 211 - all fitted in a case) - can't set a cue, can't jog - all it has it a fast wordware/rewind button. About all it has is pitch control. I was looking to get Numark CDJ2, but they told me this was way more solid. Learned not to take the word of sales people. Wish I found this place first. Now I need to save up for a laptop, one of your custom controllers and Traktor Oh, I listen to.play anything from chilled voal trance, through sort of world beat electronica (ala delrium/banco de gaia) through psymbient (Shpongle et al), psydub and dark ambient to full out psytrance. Leaning towards the less full out though. |

I've been playing with MixMeister as of late and i thought i should finally take this hoby to the next step. I've been Playing music for about 3 years now...started just as a way to make money at house party's... Looking forward to learning a lot of new things.... |
