APC40 Mapping Madness (Midi Fighter Style on APC40) Posted on: 05.07.2010 by Lynetta Piacentino This week I've ordered my Midi Fighter and as I cannot wait to receive it, I already started using the Midi Fighter mapping for Traktor by remapping it on my APC40!The first result is now having row 5/6/7&8 (top 4 rows) mapped exactly as the DECK A mapping for Midi Fighter. I started to make slight adjustments to the LED's (as the APC40 has more options then the MF) and I went crazy playing with it! And I know that it's always cool to see other people's mappings, so I wanted to share mine as well! Both TSI (deck A only) and layout are attached. (don't forget to set the APC40 to 'dumb mode' via Albeton...). I cannot wait for the original MF to arrive and test the ultra responsiveness and speed!! (check out original files, new MF TSI file and info here http://www.djranking s.com/2010/06/3...lized-mapping/) I'll continue to make it even more APC40 style and map a second deck asap (and move the first deck A to the left). But as I'm also playing with 2 and 4 deck TSI's an update might not come very soon | |

Sun Popov 19.08.2010 | updated my version of HouseQ |
Julietta Mistretta 19.08.2010 | at this point, what is the difference between yours and stephs? i cant recall which i loaded last... :/ |
Lynetta Piacentino 19.08.2010 | Small update on the TSI; even more FX stuff, eq on top, some faders used for volume and dry/wet fx3 and 4: Download the TSI directly from my website If you need info on this, explanation video's and/or mapping overviews, check out: http://houseq.nl/index.php/controller-mappings/ |
Julietta Mistretta 17.08.2010 | nice, that appears to have fixed it. initially, the lights didnt come up until i loaded a track, and then just cue-1 light started blinking. everything else worked great after that. thanks, |

Julietta Mistretta 17.08.2010 | I started to play with the IN-port initially, but never really read up on what those do, so I cut my losses and closed up for the evening
. Will try this when I get home from work toevening . Thanks! |
Lynetta Piacentino 17.08.2010 | Hey completej, You probably didn't select the correct in- and out-ports in Traktor, did you? Make sure you select the imported TSI/Device first in the mapping section (see red circle in the attachment) and then make sure you select the APC40 at the in- and out-port (see purple circles in the attachment) After selecting this your APC should light up as a christmas tree |
Julietta Mistretta 16.08.2010 | not sure what im doing wrong, but... i start from a fresh boot turn on apc40 load ableton 8.1.3, get red box, and quit all the lights on the apc go out i load traktor 1.2.4 no lights appear on apc, all buttons unresponsive i've tried with both steph's tsi and your most recent tsi with no luck. however, if i load in my old custom apc mapping, lights appear and the controller is responsive. i've completely wiped all controller bindings (including keyboard) and tried both methods to "import" the tsis. any ideas? i really dig your layout and was finding mine a bit restrictive as of late. thanks, |
Lynetta Piacentino 16.08.2010 | Hey good news. A visitor on my site used my TSI and updated it with some new options and also the EQ. It is really a cool TSI and although I'd prefer some options to be a bit different, it still a nice mapping! Check out the attached files from the mapping image and the TSI! I'll update the image and TSI according to some of my preferences and post some new one later! (thanks go to Steph who updated my image and TSI with some additional cool stuff!) |
Kandy Ahdoot 16.08.2010 | Ok mate no worries and thanks again for all the help you been a star still useing this mapping for traktor |
Lynetta Piacentino 16.08.2010 | @CassoIVchoon, yeah received your PM, sorry for not responding. I've being quite busy with non music stuff. I'll continue with this map asap, and implement the EQ stuff as well. About the FX, I cannot solve it. The problem is that there are various APC40 controllers in the world which seem to send different notes, depending on production, country, setting (I don't know actually). I already noticed 3 different notes-overviews for the APC. The problem is that the buttons below (red/green/blue) seem to different in note-midi signals per controller. Check some more information here I'm not sure on how to solve this. Maybe I'll make a slightly other mapping in which you can set the effects more easily yourself. I didn't make up my mind about a solution for this yet.. |
Kandy Ahdoot 16.08.2010 | any closer to solveing the problem of the efx 3 and 4? all so did you get my pm about setting up eqs for me? |
Lynetta Piacentino 16.08.2010 | just joking! Thanks for sharing, no hard feelings. |

Kandy Ahdoot 10.08.2010 | i really want this tsi to work but i just dont believe it will i believe its strange that apc sends out different midi just cus it was made somewhere else this is tsi is perfect i just cant use it cus of the efx problems, |

Lynetta Piacentino 10.08.2010 | Yep, setting those filters yourself would be a good idea. It might be a bit hard, but hopefully my TSI example helps. |
Kandy Ahdoot 09.08.2010 | well that sucks i had a idea tho in the tsi could i not just edit it myself like where it says beatmaser on 3 of the comands could i not just change it to "delay" etc...? i dont have my apc40 with me but will try it in the morning |
Lynetta Piacentino 09.08.2010 | I believe there is a difference between our APC's and what notes they are sending. I've read differences in this earlier, for example in this thread: http://www.djranking
s.com/community
/showthread.php?t=5484 I believe that various production ranges and/or countries may have 'different' APC's. So that means if note 'X' is sending the FX3 in my setup, it might fire note 'Z' in your setup causing a whole different action to fire (like in this case FX4). Too bad that therefore sharing tsi's is a bit hard. |

Lynetta Piacentino 08.08.2010 | @CassoIVchoon; someone else also notices me about the wrong filtering settings compared to my scheme I have drawn. I'll check this again, it is possibly a wrong setting at my side, not yours |
Lynetta Piacentino 04.08.2010 | The version shouldn't be a problem. 'filter in action' => I meant, if you go to preferences and the the mapping of the APC. Check the in-command called 'select filter' and check a command which focusses on deck A or B. Then you should be able to check what filter the command sets the unit to. |
Kandy Ahdoot 03.08.2010 | i am useing 1.2.4 and whats filter in action? its a shame this part is not working for me cus this is pretty much the mapping i have been after for a while |

Kandy Ahdoot 02.08.2010 | Right sync probelm is now sorted noidea what it was as it was set to intr but changed it and switched it back and it now works and yeah all my filters are on |

Kandy Ahdoot 01.08.2010 | i still dont get -> Delay (green buttons) -> Slicer (blue buttons) -> Beatmasher (red buttons) i get -> mash (green buttons) -> Slicer (blue buttons) -> iceverb (red buttons) and i still cant figure out this sync problem |

They are not set automatically yet. But my suggestion is: FX UNIT 1 (chained) -> ICEVERB -> MULHOLLANDDRIVE (something like that ) -> PEAK FILTER FX UNIT 2 (chained) -> DELAY -> GATER -> BEATMASHER (2 of these filters are also on the fx unit 3 and 4, but now you have the possiblity to freely play with the dry/wet and amounts) The SYNC button is exactly working as the standard SYNC button on Traktor itself, the button isn't map to anything else. Maybe you can check the BPM-unit on top (if you have enabled its view via the preferences). In that BPM-unit you have the option to set the BPM yourself, automatically or via your midi device. I've mine set to manual, then both decks will work fine (also the sample-button will work best with sync on). EDIT: I see you addition to your post now , my effects are my suggested fx for units 1 and 3, feel free to use your own prefered ones. |
Kandy Ahdoot 01.08.2010 | on the fx bank 3 and 4 what do you have it set has or does it change auto? all so when pressing sync button its setting my bpm to 124.13 on the other track and other way round so its not syncing? btw thanks for all your help on this sorry to be a pain in the ass as i see on yout mapping efx 3 and 4 banks are delay slice mash on mine they are mash slice ice |

You can even pause the original track and it will still continues to play. So the next thing in the mapping will be the possibility to record a sample, and then play through the sample with some new beats/cues (probably just by setting dry/wet to 0.5 , more to come!) For now enjoy this map! I've played a lot with it myself. Playing with the echo (especially the first green button) is sooo cool. Using voices or cool sounds, put the delay1 button on, then switch the delay off and set the music back on. The echo of the voice will continue for a while, and still the original track is already playing, way cool (hopefully this makes sense, haha). |
Kandy Ahdoot 01.08.2010 | ahh yes its all working now thanks i am loving it |

Kandy Ahdoot 01.08.2010 | right have done all that now everything works apart from the fx3 and fx4 banks pressing the buttons does nothing they light up for a second but does not trigger the efx in them banks they dont move or come on :S |
