The attached file is not completely finished but very close. Please contribute your own changes and upload finished TKS files or new ideas here so we can collectively build a better mapping.

Thanks!

The VCI-100 is indeed a very nice controller, but i like the fact that the 300 got a souncard built in - another thing you don't have to carry around. It only comes down to personal preference, what sucks a bit is the lack of controls on the 300, but you can make it better by buying eg a nanopad or nanokontrol as complimentary controller. I wouldnt buy the vfx if you use traktor though, as its just a midi controller like the nanoseries, but itll cost much more. If youre using itch then id could be worth it, but if not...

What you shouldnt forget is that you need a soundcard with your vci-100, so it would cost about the same (with traktor admittedly).

I love traktor for the possibilities, but i also love itch as im a big fan of simplicity. And i believe the feeling of itch is just great, i like spinning out with it. Therefore i believe i made the right choice with my 300, but thats only my personal preference.

What style do you spin and how do you normally spin? Lots of fx? Electronic music? Or music where you need to get "more in touch" like hiphop scratching or music where you have big differences in bpms (like reggae, soca, jazz, whatever)?
Do you beatmatch manually or do you sync your tracks?
I'm just a beginner. I really have no idea what my style is. I believe Itch 2.0 + the VFX-1 will more than make up for whatever Traktor Pro has going for it at my unsophisticated level of experience. Thanks for the quick reply. I'll just hang in there and get to know Itch 1.1 for the time being.

Any idea how much longer before the Official Traktor Pro + VCI-300 map will be done by DJ TechTools? I'm believeing I should have bought the VCI-100 controller instead of the VCI-300. What do you believe?

I guess the VFX-1 will make things more equal. But I can get the VCI-100 for $375 plus the Tracktor Pro upgrade for $119 so only about $500 total while I paid $730 for the VCI-300 & Itch. I'm confused about my decision making at a time when a bunch of new items are going on sale soon.

the file from this thread (.tks) is for traktor 3 usage only - to use your vci-300 with traktor pro you should search for a different file (.tsi). you won't need the mini translator (only for traktor 3)

-will I be able to synchronize vci300 and traktor scratch pro v1.2?

Yep, thats what i would recommend -stay with Itch for the beginning, its as close as possible to the traditional Turntable paradigm. After you mastered it and feel the desire to do more fancy stuff (comes paired with the feeling of Itch being too limited) you could take a peek into Traktor - you'll gonna see a whole new world opening for you then

If you ask for help - please always include at least the following information:
- OS version (10.4? 10.5?)
- Traktor version

The .tks file is actually not for the mini.translator, but for Traktor 3 (it'll not work if you use Traktor Pro). This file has a mapping saved in it (which defines which button does what). You'll need to load it via the preferences window of your Traktor 3.
For the mini.translator you'll actually need to load a .bmte file (just drag that one into the mini.translator window).

not sure how this works, I've downloaded the mini translator, and tried to download tks onto my mac, does the mini translator already have a tks included, and if not the tks in this thread could not be opened on my mac. I do appologize as I am not a computer whiz and any assistance would be kind

If you're on Windows you should install ASIO4ALL (asio4all.com - you can read installation documentation there).

This should solve most of your audio problems. If it doesn't then you should post your audio configuration here on these community s.

Also - DON'T use mini.translator if you're on Traktor PRO, you only need it if youre using Traktor 3.

I've somehow managed to make my traktor pro 1.0.1.070 work.. Meaning the mapping, etc.

But somehow the sounds still comes out as a chipmunk singing on every track.

Can someone please please tell me what is wrong, or is there some setting i need to check.
Been trying to solve this problem for the past 2 days and i'm going nuts..

I hope someone can help me out or point me in the right direction.

Dear Morbido,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I'm in the process of updating my Traktor Pro.

Is there any step by step process on how to setup my VCI 300 with Traktor Pro.

Or maybe a video?

Also do you know why my current configuration sounds like a chipmunk, even though i mapped claudek's .tsi file as well as am using a midi.translator
Andriy Gavrysh

if you take a look at the thread title you will notice that the threads called "vci-300 and traktor !3!" - so you can only use the provided mapping with traktor 3, not traktor pro.

first you should update your traktor pro via the NI Service Center to the latest version. then you should dump mini.translator - you won't need it with traktor pro.

next thing you should do is search the mappings community for a nice mapping for your vci-300 and traktor pro. you should take a look at sosik's, nicky h's and claudek's mappings, they're really good.

all you have to do is set up your vci-300 with traktor pro (enabling input and output in midi settings and set things like your audio channels and your latency) and then import one of the mappings mentioned above.

next thing you should do after these steps is make a nice mixtape, post it in the mixes section of the DJTT community and enjoy your vci-300

Dear All,
Greetings from Timor-Leste.

I'm having problems with setting up my VCI 300 with Traktor.

I have already installed the midi.translator and everytime i move a button on my Traktor Pro i see a blue light, I have then imported the .tsi file into traktor pro.

The problem is whenever i play a track it sounds like a chipmunk is singing.

I've tried to search for this problem on the community , but i haven't found out.
Can someone please help me solve this problem.

Thank You,
Big B
Dili, Timor Leste.

Gotcha. So there's nothing wrong.
Andriy Gavrysh
19.03.2009
that's because the vci300 has got a soundcard built in. and these knobs directly control the output volume of the soundcard. that's why these knobs don't send midi messages

I found one problem with the VCI-300 and mini.translator. It won't read the "Master" volume knob (Knob 14 in the Manual diagram) or the "Monitor" volume knob (Knob 16). Every other knob, slider and button is being read. Any suggestions?

it also works on safari, but not with a simple click, only by right-clicking and choosing save as...

mapping a midi controller totally depends on what software you wanna use - so i'm afraid but i can't help you with mapping your 300 with mixvibes. i'd suggest you to go to the mixvibes community and ask them if they have got a mapping for your controller

personally i only use itch and traktor - so if you have questions about mapping your controller for traktor then feel free to ask.

never used mixvibes though, so i guess someone else has got to help you!

I figured it out! You can't download the .bmte file using Safari. I tried downloading with Firefox and it worked. For whatever reason, it doesn't work with Safari. I got the blue light to come on in mini.translator following the directions for installation and setup. Thanks for your help! I've never mapped out a midi controller for a software. If there isn't a mapping file, how does one assign? I'd like to use my 300 with a few different softwares. I'm planning to buy MixVibes Cross. Is there a mapping file for it and how would I install it. I'm also using Disco XT and DJ1800. If there's a tutorial on how to assign these controls, I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks again....Steve

yep, sorry, didn't use the mini.translator quite some time - so i didn't really remember well

i mean exactly this black dot, if you twist a knob, push a button, turn the jog or do something similar on your vci-300 (while it is connected and the right file is loaded) then this dot should turn blue.

the vci-300pg1.tks file is the midi mapping file for traktor 3 - so unless you want to use traktor you don't need this file.

you can get the .bmte file here:
http://www.djranking s.com/2008/10/0...ased/#more-800
there's also a installation guide.

17.03.2009
Thanks for your reply. I've been trying to drag the vci-300pg1.tks file that was on the same page as the original mini.translator download page. So you're saying I was trying to drag the wrong file? Where do I get the vci300.bmte file? Also, I don't see a blue dot in my mini.translator window. I see a black dot right above the "preset". Is that what you're talking about? Thanks in advance for your help!
Andriy Gavrysh
17.03.2009
you have to open mini.translator first - it'll open and you'll see a small window of the app. then you have to drag a file called something like "vci300.bmte" right onto the window of the opened app. that's all, it should work then.

for troubleshooting there's a small (unlit) blue dot right on the mini.translator window, if you have dragged the .bmte file onto mini.translator and have connected your vci-300 with your imac and move anything on the controller (jogs, buttons, faders, ...) then the blue dot should light up.
Tomasa Ralfs
17.03.2009
Please pardon my ignorance but I've been trying to drag the VCI-300pg1.tks into mini.translator and it's not working. I'm using an iMac and I followed the directions trying to drag this file into the mini.translator application in my applications folder. When I drag the file over the mini.translator icon in my applications folder, it doesn't turn blue to let you know you can drop it in there. Can somebody help me with this. I'd like to use my VCI-300 with some other software, namely MixVibes Cross. I've used their demo software and like it alot.
