Native Instruments AUDIO 4 DJ
Posted on: 15.01.2009 by Predrag Mladenovic
Based on the acclaimed AUDIO 8 DJ interface that is also at the heart of Native Instruments' TRAKTOR SCRATCH DJ system, the new AUDIO 4 DJ offers a 4-in/4-out configuration with the same pristine audio quality, but with an even smaller footprint and at a more affordable price. Two stereo inputs with software-switchable phono preamps allow DJs to connect turntables, CD decks and music production gear for various live performance and recording purposes. Two stereo outputs provide the necessary connectivity for routing two decks into an external DJ mixer, or outputting a separate master and cue signal when mixing in software. All audio connections are in RCA format for straightforward interfacing with DJ gear .

So, yeah, it supports timecode.
QFT, once again a reference, if it was not possible, why would it be featured in a product demonstration vid?

But you won't have timecode control, at least according to the shop page at NI.

I don't wanna get into a pissing match, but if you click the Details link, you get this:

Important note: Combining the TRAKTOR PRO software with AUDIO 4 DJ DOES NOT give you timecode control to spin via turntables or CD decks. If you like to use timecoded vinyl or CD please buy TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO.

ok but would buying the audio 4 dj + the upgrade to traktor pro scratch + multi cables + control cd's would be cheaper then buying TSP (including Audio 8 DJ)??

i believe some folks are confusing the statement that Tpro plus audio 4 or 8 is not going to give you scratch control. It's not just the hardware, but the serial number that opens up the scratch functions - so if you have Tpro you also need to update the licence code.

Right, the multicore cables will work

But you won't have timecode control, at least according to the shop page at NI.

Yes it does, with Traktor Scratch Pro.

And my answer was a general one...meaning that the multicore cables can work with any soundcard

Of course it works with timecode Vinyl.

Well, I heared something about a plugin or such.. Don't know what's the deal with that.
(Otherwise, why would they show it in a timecoded vinyl setup? )

Well, he also used 1200s, but they were later on, if I am correct in all these assumptions.

They're totally new technology. They're called SL-1200MK6 with control surface by traktor. They're totally epic man, but way too expensive. Not enough buttons.

Bitter disappointment...

I guess I owe someone a Disney theme track mix now.....

The VCM-400 looks interesting but has missed the point.

Audio 4 DJ - its what NI needed to fill the gap in its product line, BUT it was definitely not worth the wait.

As an interesting side note, well if you haven't already seen it and commented in another post about it, doesn't the guy presenting the new soundcard look a tad familiar?

If you cannot see the video a little hint. During the video you see a VCI-100 with an arcade button mod several times.
