Why converting HID to Midi? Traktor, VirtualDJ and other Programs accept keyboard assignment, so it would accept the controller as normal keyboard.

@ElectricPulse: Yes, 16 Buttons are possible.

You could (in theory) make a 16 button controller if you implemented the /, *, -, +, Enter key, period, and 0 keys.

This is genius. I imagine he isn't converting to MIDI at all and is simply using the keyboard mapping within Traktor.

Here is the Tutorial:

First take a cheap Numpad.
I tooked this one from Slimlink.

Numpads has really small Controlboards.

First you had to find out which Button is soldered to which pin. I wrote the numbers to the foil.

My controller has the soldering for the Buttons (Numbers):

Number 1: C11 R2
Number 2: C12 R2
Number 3: C13 R2
Number 4: C11 R1
Number 5: C12 R1
Number 6: C13 R1

After soldering with a soldering bolt it looks like this:

Some Notebooks need the Num Lock Button to activate the Numpad. So just put an extra button to the controller.
Button Num Lock: C11 R4

Put this all in a case and it will be ready.

Excellent. Yes please do a tutorial if you can, your project seems 'simple' enough for people like myself who don't have a clue about this kind of electronic magic. If you cant', too bad, but thanks anyway for the thread.

a long strip of buttons under the vestax rather than on the sides would make more sense from an ergonomic stand point... unless you don't do/wont be doing cue point juggling.

What about one longish one along the bottom of the vestax
