Thanks flash...it would have been great if you guys included the original knobs for the vci400. So your saying next week we should be getting are vci's? Im stoked.

Yeah, it fits in there fine too, the S2 backpack is huge. The VCI-400 also fits into the S2 sleeve except since it's a bit longer it sticks out of the sleeve just enough so that you can't close the sleeve's velcro latch. I'm sure that even like that though the S2 sleeve would offer some additional padding and support.

Also, our VCI-400 Ean Golden editions were held up in Customs for longer than expected and we have not yet physically received them yet. It looks like tomorrow or Wednesday they will arrive.

Given the amount of pre-orders and preparation we will have, don't expect anything to ship out until the day after we receive them. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I answered this in an earlier post, but the VCI-400 Ean Golden edition DOES NOT come with the included software and overlays that the regular VCI-400 comes with.

So to be clear, with the VCI-400SE EG Editions you do not get the free Virtual DJ LE software, or Vestax's overlays for various dj softwares, or the Vestax stock knobs, and you can't choose your color of Chroma Cap (we shipped the black knobs direct to their factory).

You will get sweet custom firmware, a custom top plate with labels for our mapping, custom blue filter knobs, and free custom DJ Techtools mappings for Traktor Pro 2.

I can also already safely say that I will release an edit of the official Ean Golden mapping altered to fit my needs. Both of these mappings will require our custom firmware to function fully as designed.

As for the upgrade for regular VCI-400 users, I don't have any real news about that. I believe Ean did make a comment regarding that on a blog post but there are no official dates, prices, or plans set in stone for that at the moment. However, my guess would be that it will probably happen at some point given the demand.

I'm hoping I was one of the first few to order it. Hopefully it will get here in a timely manner. Do you believe these will have a limited edition # on it?

Ready for this weapon to arrive!

Will the VCI400 EG EVER be able to be a stand-alone mixer? I read somewhere that firmware update may be on the horizon to allow that. IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE via firmware?

I'm assuming that the EGE will have a special start up mode where you can switch between firmware versions... Similar to the vci-100 se... You may get unexpected results mapping other software if you are booted up with the EGE...

The VCI-400 is still a MIDI controller at heart so you shouldn't have any trouble remapping it to suit your needs. Vestax has their original firmware online, so I am sure you can just reflash it with that to get completely stock settings if the EGE firmware changes that much.

That is the beauty with MIDI, as long as software can understand it, you can reprogram the controller to do anything.

Thanks for your feedback. I have used Itch with my vci-300 and I kinda like it but is limited. I have used VDJ but without a controller and is pretty neat. Now I seen the EGE in video and I love everything you can do with it but just saying, would I have to be limited to just traktor or can I just reverse everything back to original and be able to use other software? I don't care if the EGE comes as a bundle or not, what i do know, this baby is "sick". Just don't like to be limited to just traktor.

So my question is, can I reverse the EGE to stock and have everything like the original comes, to be able to use whatever other softwares?

Hello Everyone, this is my first post in this site. I have been waiting for a few months to purchase my 400 now that is here, I am not sure which one to buy. I do like the EG edition but what happen if I don't really like traktor and rather try other software, what will I need to do to accomplish this? I am not saying traktor is bad or good, just simply saying if I rather use something else. I am also aware of DJTT releasing upgrade package for the regular 400, but it has not been release.

I'm really confused about this. Didn't we work out some time ago in a lengthy thread (ghetto timecode) that to get timecode working you just need a phono pre amp. Doesn't the VCI-400 have a pre amp built in which has a level adjustment on the back?

Has anyone actually tried to see if it works or not? I know its not certified but given there was no kind of encryption or whatever (has that changed) would it not work. I know it def used to work with cdjs without a certified hardware as i got it working myself. Has this hole been closed?

I saw from a review..that you cant use the vci as a stand alone mixer, but i maybe mistaken...

Does anyone know if they are shipping the EGE's from their San Jose store? I was believeing about shipping costs..and since im in cali priority/2-3 day shipping is kinda moot and ill just opt for the free ups ground cause itll get here at the same time..

ok yeah i get you there but its all part and parcel. They did produce a FW for the VCI which they didn't charge for, on multiple occasions. Yes the 1.4 was the brain child of a community member originally but it was then tested tweaked and finally released by DJTT.

I guess with the 400 they have lost the income from the FW kit seen as its not needed anymore, and they have got to make money somewhere

edit: oops missed the previous post.

Yeah it does but he didn't mention the LE version. He said he wanted to know if there would be a mapping for VDJ. Crossed wires I guess.

It seems like the people have spoken - A firmware/mapping/overlay/knobs combo upgrade package needs to happen.

WIth all of those items it will probably be about $99. How do you feel about that price?
i wrote an email to the store asking when the kit will happen. zach answered "at least a month or two"

Where are you getting this info from?

Yeah i believe its pretty steep. I believe maybe FW for free (So people can decide if they like it, or infact need it) as it was for the VCI100 (Which i own), then if people like it they will come back and buy the overlay and caps etc (which i did) ... Some of the buggyness that has to be ironed out a lot of the time due to DJTT pushing them to the limits can be quite annoying, even when its free, let alone when you've dropped $100 on it. This will become especially annoying further down the line when something new is being concentrated on and the 400 becomes an after thought. DJTT changed their minds about charging for the S2 FW if i remember right, because it was against their ethics and was not what they were about, so whats changed?

Don't get me wrong I love DJTT and believe the work they do is pretty damn cool. I know they are getting bigger and doing more things but i cant help but feel things can get a bit lax. If i had paid for my mappings for the VCI, especially the last one released for TP2, i wouldn't be happy at all given how slow things progressed and quite a lot ended up getting fixed by a community member from what i could see, with two different versions being run side by side.

Long live DJTT, and long may their work continue...

Does anyone know exactly what changes this FW makes over the original FW? What extra commands/notes have been added and where?

Thanks
Laura Mihok

It would be nice if the EG edition gave you all of the stock hardware as a backup but from what I have read, you lose the stock knobs and software.
I wrote a email to DJTT but they are taking a little too much to answer. I already brought a EG edition. But i didn't know it would not come with the stock knobs, layouts, software etc. If you believe well, it's better buy just the FW package.

But i have faith in Ean and i know he i'll do the best he can to satisfy his customers! That's for sure.
I just want a honest answer.

LE is the intro version, I believe pro is a $150 upgrade. Also I believe pro is the only way to get 4 decks?

In answer to whether this will come with a mapping for VDJ I would doubt it very much. Purely from the point of view that the effort involved in keeping firmware and mappings up to date for Traktor alone is going to be extremely time consuming so then multiy that for every other major piece of software and DJTT staff would be extremely over worked.
