What headphones do you use?
What headphones do you use? Posted on: 20.04.2012 by Tova Duignan Hello everybody, as a new guy in the DJTT community
s i have been searching for a couple of days now for a headphone thread and i didnt seem to find one. Today i took action and created one for us. So :Tell us what headphones do you use or which ones do you hope to get in the future, also share your opinions on them. | |
Tova Duignan 22.04.2012 | That's one thing they do 100% perfectly for sure! |
Khadijah Bucker 22.04.2012 | Oh I'd have them lol they look cool |
Tova Duignan 22.04.2012 | So in the end the whole point stands at the price, but if lets say they all cost 150$, then what? |
Khadijah Bucker 22.04.2012 | I'd have mixrs if they were cheaper, same price as my pioneers and I'd have been sold. I love my solo hd's but got them with 25% off, wouldn't have paid full price. |

Beats aren't "Bad" when it comes to making headphones, they just massively inflate the price of pretty "nice" headphones and have every tom dick and harry big name endorse them - big names that the majority of Underground Jocks hate, and the overground jocks love to hate on. Now if beats were to create an EGE or Richie Hawtin Editon would beats still be a hated brand - me wonders ? |

I'm just here to pass accurate information to the OP, I'm just trying to be helpful. After using a product for almost a year I can share some useful information. About the beats, it's my right to dislike them, there is nothing you can do about, it's merely an opinion of a person you have never met. The reason why they disgust me is the fact that they are overpriced and are marketed towards people who care about looks, image, status, what is considered hip by the sheep of todays society. Some of wich are full-on white trash scum of the earth douchebags. Now I'm not saying you are a douchebag, I've never met you, but I can deduct you it only takes a bad word about something you like to make you snap. Now, I hope we can all put this behind us and get on with our day. Because hey, we're talking about headphones here, not ending world hunger or curing cancer or finding the reason we exist, no just electronics surrounded by synthetic material that produce a sound. This actually matters very little. Good day sir. |

I wouldn't use them for dj'ing because the studios need batteries and the pro's are too expensive for me. And mixrs have an unfortunate image due to mr guetta |
Rebecka Ilar 22.04.2012 | The AIAIAI headphones, are very good, and very well built. |

The sound quality is superb, I have sennheisers, Technics, Sonys at home but for me, infront of thousands or on the road writing, Beats are bringing it straight to my ears right. |

Tova Duignan 22.04.2012 | Can you compare them with any other headphones that you have used? |

Isa Erik 22.04.2012 | I use the AKG K181 DJ, an excellent over the ear DJ model I highly recommend themAKG_K181_DJ_1.jpg |
Nereida Jasnoch 22.04.2012 | First of I would like to share with that I'd rather anally insert a cactus and leave it in for three days then be seen in public with beats by dre or mixrs for that matter. That being said, I got my V-Moda crossfade LP's (gunmetal black) almost a year now. What I like about them: -They look great, they do attract people with questions about the headphones so it's great that they make you stand in a not very douchey way. -Good (not perfect) sound isolation -Sound great, more then the full human hearing range, they are bass heavy but that only helps you identify the kicks when beatmatching -Comes with a long kevlar reinforced cord and a similar shorter one with ipod controls and mic, in other words perfect for everyday use -comes with hardcase -after one year of use they still have no signs of wear and tear -They sit comfortable on your head, although after 2-3 hours I like to take a break and take em off to rest my ears a bit -lifelong warranty What I don't like about them (and the reason why I might replace them in the distant future with technics): -They do not sit comfortable in your neck, sometimes when mixing I feel like I NEED to hear the what's coming through the main PA, for example when I'm adjusting the EQs with both songs in the mix already, so then I wear them in my neck, but they are so bulky it's difficult to tilt your head down and look at the mixer because they are so big they constrict the movements of your head. If you have any questions about the V-modas I'll be happy to help you out. |
Tova Duignan 22.04.2012 | Frankly the HDJ1000s were total crap, had 3 friends that had them djing daily for 5+ hours, all three pairs broke down(the hinges broke), not to mention the really muddy sound they had. About the 2000s i can say that they are really durable even though the guy that i worked with had them and his pair broke down at the place where the little metal piece (that extends their length) was and their sound wasn't so impressive also. |
Fidelia Messing 22.04.2012 | using the good old Technics Rp-Dh 1200 worked for me for over 5 years and are now looking a little beat up (mainly the ear pads are worn through). i am really considering getting a new pair and using these as back ups. gonna have to decide between getting a new pair of technics or the pioneer hdj2000 |
Nyla Panes 21.04.2012 | I am using HDJ 500's little brother of the 1000's which I use to use. Smaller more compact and light weight, loud enough for the club environment and love the swing arm |
Khadijah Bucker 21.04.2012 | I've got hdj-1000, will probably try out the senheisers at some point. I've also got beats solo hd, and while I don't use thm to dj they sound very good so I'd probably consider the mixrs if they weren't so expensive |
Tova Duignan 21.04.2012 | If you are on a budget i guess they would suffice. |
Arnetta Koskinas 21.04.2012 | 3-30k freq response...they're no hd25's...the bass is a little on the heavy side...however they are 40% of the price so... They're loud enough for me, and deliver sound well enough to mix in the loudest of situations...and that's good enough for what I need. They wouldn't serve me in the studio, but then again they aren't meant to... |
Floria Regoli 21.04.2012 | maybe they sound well... in soviet russia my friend!!! |
Tova Duignan 21.04.2012 | Killer sound on rellops, i choose not to believe it. |
Arnetta Koskinas 21.04.2012 | I just picked up the Reloop RHP 10's...(I'm short on cash at the moment...) The sound is killer...however they are very plasticy...and very tight on the ears...after about 2 hours they kinda hurt...I'm hoping they will break in more...I've only been doing 1 hour sets lately though so it hasn't become a problem live...just during extended practice sessions. |
Tova Duignan 22.04.2012 | Hehe i starting to believe that this is where i am heading towards... |
Floria Regoli 21.04.2012 | well give a try to the hd25... they are the best cans out there!! |
Tova Duignan 21.04.2012 | I can agree to the fact that the tma 1s and the vmoda headphones are great but the problem is that there is no place where i can test them here where i live. That being said to give such an amount of money in a pair of non swivel headphones(but flexible) would be a huge risk because i really dont know if their ergonomics will please me, making the swivel headphones(at least for now) a one way option... |
Floria Regoli 20.04.2012 | RP DJ 1200 are great... also the tma1 from aiaiai... are awesome... but the senheissers hd25 are the best headphone you can find on the market... i believe only the tmas are closer to this cans!!! |
Rolanda Clodfelder 20.04.2012 | 1. Pack a mirror and iPod in a stylish bag 2. Go to headphone shop 3. Try Headphones to something you like while posing 4. Buy whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy when you listen to the tunes look in the mirror. |
Audrey Pinda 20.04.2012 | I have owned the AIAIAI TMA-1's and the HDJ-2000's. I have friends who have the Xone 53's and the HDJ-1000's. The HDJ-2000's are hands down the best headphones I've personally ever used, and they are the ones I use on a daily basis. (That being said, I prefer over ear as opposed to on ear headphones, and it's a lot of personal comfort choice on that). |
