VCI-100SE TSI Version 2 Feedback
VCI-100SE TSI Version 2 Feedback 2_0 has some big changes (hense the 2.0) but its the most usable and fun TSI i have made so far. super easy to use but there are many, many deep layers of power under the surface. To see what the functions of this mapping do, please visit our mapping tab at the top of the page. When Posting bug reports here please make sure you mention:

Love this 2.2 map, especially the "several ways to do the same thing" philosophy - drop a loop using the loop key or using the FX bank. Tweak FX using the FX bank or the filter knobs. Love having 4 decks at last. The center "toggle file browser" button toggles nothing for me. Some strange interactions between the Deck C/DeckD buttons and the Decks C/D performance mode switch where Deck D was being controlled but wasn't onscreen. I guess I just confused the thing. Filter knob FX - Still working out how to use them. Good when you want to tweak knobs on both sides at the same time. Not often I've been able to do that yet. |

If you can sacrifice the function of that modifier for a moment to engage cue map mode, the tsi might be programmed using that modifier, and whatever other modifiers get in the way could change state momentarily. Example: Say chained/advanced is Mod 1 and has values of 0 and 1 respectively. Say the transport buttons are responding to Mod 2. Hitting a button engages cue map mode. If Mod 1 is value 0 it becomes value 2, and if Mod 1 value is 1, it becomes 3. Mod 2 (the one effecting transport) jumps to an unused value, and now mapping the cue won't affect transport. Then the buttons used to cue map can jump all modifiers back to the states they were in previously, and rocking can continue. I love this concept (big ups Ean!), I'm just debating adding it into my own file cause I know it'll take a lot of time to account for every value state the vci could be in. (All my modifiers are used up too). Just when I believe I can stop obsessively programming, someone comes up with another great idea to incorporate...! |

I remapped the fx on the eq buttons to become pan for each deck and it's awesome especially for those who do all their mixing on the vci. It makes layering 4 tracks sound a lot better and more interesting. I'll try and post the tsi later this week. By the way I'm off to Japan for all of April. I am planning on calling in to vestax to give them all a hug. I'll make sure they know it's from all the se users. |

Reece Murray 28.03.2009 | Has anyone played with the cue storage and mapping functions of this tsi? It seems that to store the cue you have to touch the top of the jog, which also engages scratch mode (stopping playback while the hand is on the platter). Wouldn't it be better to momentarily escape from regular jog behavior while in cue store mode... Or am I missing something? |
MadMan Ajms 28.03.2009 | good idea...I'd actually believe better the other way around as most users are used to those lil knobs as loop on/off buttons and usingSHIFT and hit a lil button enables fx 1,2,1,2 |
Karl Forde 28.03.2009 | How about Shifting the little black buttons so they also turn on and off the fx for decks c & d??? |
MadMan Ajms 28.03.2009 | fluorescent blue .hmmm nice !! They both look nice. could be fresh..maybe the blue on the image looks like a soft blue, but perhaps this other could be nicer and new. Again, maybe you come up with 2 different themes (TSI's) as Traktor is getting so deep...and two different color schemes? you know the more I look at the blue, it is nice and fresh. maybe keep on with your idea Ean. I can still send it if ya want. -again , fx on the eq's are a little messy and a VCI-300 trick for those without a dedicated fx section...idea was cool though for use with the new looping section. |

Marcel Almero 27.03.2009 | im having probles period..i have traktor pro tried to import tsi 1.4 files and a "warning:error while parsing setting file on import" message came on??? have the Vci arcade edition #19 and trying to figure out how i get the mapping done on it.. |
casey rascal 27.03.2009 | Traktor Pro 1.1.1, FW 1.3 I agree with the weird thing obout using the EQs af FX. Turning them ON/OFF is a bit of a bitch. Isnt the Loop+ supposed to lengthen the loop, and Loop- supposed to shorten? Mine works the other way round. And still having that darn problem with deck-copy working but not deck-copy-play. Even with the destination deck already running and "load only into stopped desck" and "stop playback at end of track" unchecked! Suggestions: I really like the new looping features (section), theres just a problem with using the knob to select loop length. If the knob is all the way to the left (0%), a loop is engaged and you want to change the loop length with the knob, it is impossible not to engage the very small (1/32) loops first, and thereby resetting the loop and causing a small buzzing sound. Maybe this could be prevented by switching the order of the loops on the knob, so that the small loops are to the right (100%) instead of left? And why not have beatjump on the transport section with the shift engaged. So the four buttons are 4, 8, 16 and 32 beat jumps? And any way to bring back the jog-scroll-track collection? If the problem is that theres only two modifiers avalible, maybe the outher part of the jog could be used. ++ for the hot selection of predeffined effects. |
27.03.2009 | Hey Claudek, shoot me back the AI file and I can work some of your ideas in. We did gold before and that does appear to be a better option than blue- although it was planned to use florescent blue which shows up really nicely! if anyone has any tips on compressing files for PC's on the mac it would be much appreciated- apparently we still don't have this thing figured out yet. To the PC folks that are having issues, have you been abel to open the last 3 TSI's that were sent out in .ZIP files? |
Rey Gutierrez 27.03.2009 | I am still not able to open the zip file using WinRAR. |

Corey Holm 27.03.2009 | Thanks. Now it works. Strange... |
Bernadine Somes 27.03.2009 | Make sure you're using WinRAR to extract it. It's going to throw a bunch of errors at you, but itll extract the file and the .TSI is one of the subfolders. (2 Folders will be named the same, one blank, one containing the .TSI and readme, etc.) I just did it right now so I can confirm it works. |
Corey Holm 27.03.2009 | Yes i have try that. No luck. The zip file is password protected. |
Bernadine Somes 27.03.2009 | There's a new email with an updated link for PC users. Did you try that? |
Corey Holm 27.03.2009 | I have downloaded the 2.2 TSI but when i try unzipping the file all of the contents failed to extract. I use PC. What can i do? |

When scratch is off the cue mapping function doesnt work this is on all decks My old pal deck copy autoplay has reared its head again. Again it copies but doesnt sync tempo or aotuplay even into a playing deck. Hopefully ill get these sorted and post back in a year when BT connect my phoneline. |

Beatjump 1/4 half not etc. with each button and maybe a shift to change beat amounts amounts if desired. Mapping the jog wheels to browse /up down is not hard and did it last evening with a modifier. I love the Fader FX!..awesome for Beatmashing, and advanced fx mode with 1.3 and freeze. For me this TSI is quite nice now and fresh. |

MadMan Ajms 27.03.2009 | Hi Ean, like 2.2 just the graphics bug me little with the baby blue for the layers. I played with the graphics and wondered what everyone believes? I changed the fx names to fx 1, ,2 ,3 ..as the fx can always change upon user. I still believe maybe create 2 types of overlays would be best for Traktor Pro as there are loop/techno orinetated dj's and those who are more conventiona or beat jugglerl 2 deckers simple tsi's..The 2.2 is great ..! very practical and smart layout. Also would be cool in one of the Looper Tsi's to offer a Hawtin Style loop sync off button to let loops run wild and then jump back to sync. Also I believe looper dj's would prefer "Juggle" mode to be "Beatjump" mode. and Juggle mode on the other TSI, if there were two types f overlays. |

Ryan Deegan 26.03.2009 | Just a quick note. The link for the survey that I got in my e-mail doesn't work. To get to the survey page you need to go to the address bar and pull out the double http:// that is up there. The correct link is: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/110845/...pping-feedback Ean, once again thanks for all your work on this |
Salina Belonga 26.03.2009 | Ean, Nice work on the 2.2 revision. I am totally diggin what you've done so far. 1 problem I noticed is after using the SHIFT+ deck buttons to navigate the tree, any attempts to navigate it manually by mouse causes the tree to systematically move up until reaching the top. i.e. i click on iTunes and it scrolls up to Track Collection automatically. No idea if it is happening to anyone else, though. |
Jean Marc Lopez 26.03.2009 | Yo Ean I am lovin the new looping section, very Hawtin-esque. However I'm not diggin the EQ Fx section, there is just too much going on when using that to make sense. I can see its uses in controlling Fx on both decks simultaneously but it all gets a bit muddled when trying to switch off the effect and turning it back on. Cool idea though! I still can't figure out how to load into C/D though...........! @ Fatlimey: The Deck A 1/2 and Deck B 1/2 refers to assigning decks to either of the Fx banks. Pressing either button toggles that Fx bank on the respective deck. |
MadMan Ajms 26.03.2009 | 2.2 !! Ean ..when do you sleep? Your a TSiholic! tried 2.2 and very cool & interesting. Love the new looping section! I believe I'm sold.. a few quick things I noticed..maybe "soft takeover" checked on the eq's, so when using the fx in eq mode, they do not interfere with fx settings.. Nice work ! |
robert chanda 26.03.2009 | TSI 2_2 The JPG diagram has the buttons on the left, next to the snap beat and quanitse buttons are labelled "Deck A 1/2" ans Deck B "1/2". Deck A what? Another label describing what that means would be nice. Another thing: My *most* wanted feature is beat jumps - I use them all the time to line up events and get clean transitions over long layered sections. and to drop cuepoints 16 beats before an event. Using the shift key I could map the SYNC and PLAY buttons to Beatjump left and Beatjump right, with the DROP and PAUSE buttons jump size increase and decrease. At least that's what I'm aiming to do. It might be possible to turn the SYNC<>DROP<PAUSE and PLAY buttons to blue when the shift key is held down, turning them back to white when it is released. (or would that a Bome's thing?) Either way, this is getting really interesting. Good work Mr Ean! |
MadMan Ajms 26.03.2009 | Ean gotta thank you for your hard work. You have far more patience than I would I was trying 2.0 again toevening and really not into the looping this way. I preferred the old way in that way the user can see what loops are engaged and active/non. Again for me 1.7 was almost perfect. Like in 2.0: the browser, c/d separate control cue drops, (key lock buttons are not necessary in my opinion) Love in 1.7: the looping section, c/d volume control / fx / cue via fx bank c.. like to see browsing via jog wheels again nice work , thanks and your darn close! my vote is mix 2.0 with 1.7 and hit a bulls eye! |

Oh also a few bugs while using FW 1.2, just for all those out there that don't spot them: 1. Fx 3 on while controlling Fx Unit 1 does not work and instead toggles key lock on Deck A. 2. The same applies for Fx Unit 2, Fx 3 on doesn't do anything at all. 3. The pitch fader control resolution needs to be changed as by default it will only move about 5mm either direction on screen. 4. As stated elsewhere, the direct Fx select using Shift+Fx buttons produces random results, I got two reverbs and a gater. OH AND HOW DO YOU LOAD INTO C/D?! Can't find it for the life of me! Thanks again Ean, some great work! |
