So if spent hours amongst endless hours within the past week trying to figure out what controllers i want to use.

Im down to

and i want to add an Ipad with the Traktor Dj App

I need advise on what Mixer i would need

Audio Interface i would need.

And Other Equipment I would need to Buy to get the setup going

You could use the ipad as a midi controller for decks 3 and 4 using touch osc or similar app. I really believe you're barking up the wrong tree trying to use the traktor dj app alongside your laptop.

Basic DJ setup tutorials:

http://turntablelab.com/pages/beginn...uipment-setups

Google "how to set up a dj rig" and you'll get a bunch of tutorials...

Trying to build too complex of a setup is a big part of your confusion, imho. You don't need all that if you're just learning. Start simple, and don't overwhelm yourself with a ton of gear you don't know how to use.

I say forget the ipad thing, at least for now. If you really want 4 decks, you're way better off just using the 4 decks in Traktor. Learn the basics, figure out what you actually need, then expand your setup. If anything, buy an ipad to use as an ipad, and integrate it into your setup later when you have a better grasp on what you're doing.

Any where you know to get a good study on dj setups? If looked around through the internet and haven't seen anything good.

Haha thats what i been doing the past few days none stop is trying to figure this stuff out.

I understand everything i believe but im confused exactly how to add the Ipad into the setup and it doesnt seem to many people know either.

All i know is you cant connect the ipad to the computer to mix internally. It has to be a separate channel i believe

Depends on if you want to mix internally or externally.

If you're mixing internally you can just use the NI audio 2 (I believe, I don't know how Traktor DJ works). If you're working on 4 channels externally, then you need a 4 channel mixer and a 4 channel sound card like an NI Audio 8 or 10.

Ok I believe it will make since to start out with that. But when i want to add an ipad in the future. what would i have to do?

Would I have to sell the NI Audio 2 for a Audio 6?

Mixers and soundcards are two different things unless the mixer has a sound card built in.

It seems like you don't really know what your gear is supposed to do yet. I REALLY suggest just internally mixing with just an X1 and an NI Audio 2.

Mixers are used to EQ and fade in songs as well as a ton of other things. The mixer you linked seems to only change gain levels. Whoever suggested that to you really doesn't know what they're talking about...

Hey someone suggested that to me earlier this week. It work though wouldn't it? I mean i haven't tested mixers and audio interfaces out to be able to till how huge of a difference an audio 6 and that would make. all i know is that traktors audio interfaces seem pricy and making me pay for software i dont need

What if i use a Rolls MX42 RCA basic mixer for the laptop and ipad to connect to the pa?

So like laptop connected to audio2 for sound quality [and headphones] connected to the Rolls MX42

and the ipad connected Rolls MX42 that outputs to the speakers ?

Yeah learning all this gear and new gear stuff lately easily becomes way more stressful than needs to be. To many possibilities

I want an ipad cause i really like the freeze mode in the traktor dj app and will i never had an ipad and want one.
Also I dont know if i could handle 4 decks. How many people actually use 4 decks? Is it really important or anything?

If it's your first set up, jumping into 4 channel mixing is a bad idea IMO.

I really believe you'll be just fine with just an X1 for a while.

Jog wheels are up to you. I like having jog wheels, but they're not required.

It sounds like you're set on your setup though. In this case, you'll need a 4 channel sound card like an Audio 8 or Audio 10 to work with a 4 channel mixer.

Ok so heres what i've like I said been putting ridiculous amounts of hours into the past few weeks.

What controller/controllers i want

All in one vs modular

How important are jog wheels

If been waiting for behringer to release the cmd line for many months now. Should I wait or get a setup now

I was for moment comparing S4 with CMD Studio 4A but i believe im going to go modular.

Then Im currently stumped on what MIXER and AUDIO INTERFACE to hook up the controllers i decided on.

This is going to be my first set up and im basically new. Im also not made of money but want something that is sturdy/ reliant / and has a lot of room for me to improve on

If you've never used the X1, you should buy just one to see if you really need two.

Will right now im missing with a launchpad

I bought an x1 a feel days ago but haven't installed it or anything cause im going to return it cause one of the buttons isnt pressing right.

I want to use two x1 for 2 decks each on Traktor pro, and use an ipad with the traktor dj app as two extras on the side.

09.04.2013
I believe you should always get a 4 channel mixer so you always have the possibility to expand/back up by popping in an ipod or something, but a 2 channel mixer should work.

The audio interface outputs to the PA system.
Anabel Sanderfoot
09.04.2013
Even if i mix internally and i go to a place and there isnt any external mixer would i need to provide an external mixer to connect to the pa system correct?

Or will the Audio Interface be able to connect directly to it?

question number one:

what do you use at the moment?
Anabel Sanderfoot
09.04.2013
I was talking about getting a two channel mixer just in case i would want to use one.
Gaynell Rydberg
09.04.2013
You said you want to mix internally. You don't need a two channel mixer then, that's for external mixing.

I don't know how the Traktor DJ app works, so I'm not sure on that aspect.
Anabel Sanderfoot
09.04.2013
Ok Im using the x1 to control traktor pro2 on my laptop

I want to use an Ipad with the Traktor dj app separately as two extra decks. It Will Not be connected to my laptop.

I prefer to mix internally with the x1s

and use the Ipad on the side.

So im believeing thats two channels externally correct?

and i would need a two channel mixer?
Alphonso Deitchman
09.04.2013
You can't use X1s with Traktor DJ
Gaynell Rydberg
09.04.2013
If you mix internally, you don't need a mixer.
If you mix externally, you do need a mixer.

If you're mixing internally, an audio 2 will suffice. If you're mixing externally, it depends on how many channels your mixer has and you want to use.

AKA, we need more information.
