DJTT Internet Radio: Should it be a thing?
DJTT Internet Radio: Should it be a thing? Posted on: 05.07.2012 by Xavier Ponce In connection with a soon-to-be-published article, I'm curious as to if there's interest in our community to have an semi-official internet radio station. We'd need an incredible volunteer to run it and vet/train/schedule DJs, and we'd of course need a bunch of DJs who would be willing to contribute! What can we do to make this the way coolest internet radio station ever? DJs with experience on internet radio, we're looking to you for advice as well : ) | |
Cole Maroto 10.01.2013 | bill murray avatar ftw! nice one! it's almost exactly in sync with what i'm listening to. |
Latoria Kavulich 10.01.2013 | Yes! |
Cole Maroto 10.01.2013 | i completely forgot about this post. i hope it's still being seriously considered. |
Marguerite Salsedo 10.01.2013 | I'd definitely be down to spin Drum & Bass on a once a month basis, soundcloud's in my sig if you need any examples of my mixing. Regardless, I'd definitely listen to the station and I feel like it's about time we had a DJTT internet radio station. |
Ngoc Ninow 10.01.2013 | Do it! |
Irwin Ney 10.01.2013 | Waiting for a spot to mix psytrance |
Tatum Ansaldo 10.01.2013 | Sounds cool. |
Halley Wurzer 10.01.2013 | I'll contribute when I can. |
Benjamin Sieh 10.01.2013 | Why is DJTT internet radio not an actual thing yet? |
Deangelo Boender 10.01.2013 | This is a great idea, I would love to see a variety of content! Live or pre mixed performance routines are great, but music release mixes that talk about the tracks and artists as they are mixed are great too! |
Lillia Datson 10.01.2013 | That would be awesome! Different Genre's, different styles and categories, abilities and setups. |
Cornelius Matlosz 10.01.2013 | If this starts I will...was gonna say love DJTT more...well, I dunno what I'd do. I already love DJTT all I can...but maybe I'd love the DJ's more, as I'd have a more personal connection to them than the community s where they can show their personalities and style. |
Evangeline Boleyjack 10.09.2012 | I would be keen to contribute. I founded and have run www.budgiecollective.com from inception and would be more than happy to syndicate mixes, play live and perform management/technical functions. As this is only conceptual at this stage, and DTT seems to encourage and support the community, if anyone wants to play some live sets with us while this project (hopefully) gets off the ground, feel free to get in contact with me offline. |
Gwen Calvaresi 26.07.2012 | All over that with some varied bass music flavours |

Rosina Steinkuehler 22.07.2012 | I'll be down for some DnB. @rdale might be in for some tag team using 2 systems. |
Stephnie Godbole 22.07.2012 | Im willing to join in Trance |
Sadye Chabert 22.07.2012 | Also, I'd love to join some of the guys on here on registering and maintaining the djranking s.fm site. |
Sadye Chabert 22.07.2012 | I'd be willing to join in and mix on some loose ends, comment while other DJ's get their connections ready, and play some steady "DJ... D-D-D-D-D J TechTools Radio. Now on-air."-ish breaks. I love radio DJing! |

Kasi Marget 18.07.2012 | So ? Any news on this DJTT staff ? Looks like we got people ready to run the thing, and a bunch of DJs to provide content. What's missing ? |
Julee Fone 19.07.2012 | Yeah. Featuring both community members and well known Djs. |
Neal Brazzle 12.07.2012 | I'd be up for submitting mixes or mixing live tbh. I just love to mix and show people music. I mainly mix trap atm because I've become addicted to it but I normally play UK bass ((hate the term) if you don't know what I mean believe girl unit, hudmo, evian christ etc.) and hip hop (new and old) and can throw in some old sould and jazz stuff when the time is right. Not sure if I would be of any use to any of this but thought I'd give my 2 cents. I like the idea of a weekly podcast (maybe by the 'bigger named DJs' on the site?) and then a number of live mixes and pre-recorded shows throughout the week. If this seems like too much then maybe a monthly podcast feauting DJTT tips, news etc. and then live and prerecorded mixes throughout the month. I imagine there are enough members here to be able to get a 24/7 non stop stream of mixes (whether live or recorded), in the DJTT soundcloud group alone there is A LOT of music. I really like this idea though, sorry for going on. Based in London so idk if this fucks up with time zones as it seems most of you on here are from the US? I could be wrong though. DOCTOR ACULA. |
Erich Vallabhaneni 11.07.2012 | so what plan of action to take? DJTT channel jhes?? |

Arcelia Siebeneck 09.07.2012 | I would definitely tune in regularly. also, I like the idea of having different genres... would be boring if it's just one or two genres. |
Georgetta Buenavista 10.07.2012 | Hey everyone. I wanted to introduce my self. My name is Bryon Stout and I currently run www.deephouselounge.com. Please dont mind the temporary site that is currently up. We are in the middle of developing a custom CMS specifically for internet radio stations. I cant get into too much detail about the features as I feel this is going to be a game changer in the internet radio industry. V2 of our software will include a auto dj program that will replace centova cast or WHMSonic. ( those two programs are the leaders ). Once our software is complete I am launching a huge network of radio stations/websites split by genre. Similar to di.fm but each genre will have its own website and community. Again I cant get in to much detail about this yet. We stream via shoutcast in case you were wondering. Ian golden, If you are reading this you might remember me from when we spoke on the phone. We discussed my ideas about linking (relating) tracks together in a library to be able to search for tracks that you marked together that you know play well with each other. So when you search for Artist ABC you will see a list of tracks that you linked to that track and you know go well with it. anyway. I would be down to include or even create a dj tech tools stations on my network. It would be beneficial for everyone as my network will be very large and have tons of listeners. My business model is not like anyone else and has been proven to work. for example. I launched www.deephouselounge.com 1 year ago in march. The website has just been a temp page with a chat box since day 1. we average about 250-300 Unique visitors a day on our website. Our stream averages about 100-150 concurrent listeners per day. This is actually a few hundred thousand people because people are always coming in and out of the stream but concurrent means "at once or at the same time". I am about to launch the following.. www.bassradio.fm www.trancelounge.com www.dubstepradio.com www.triphopradio.com Once the software is complete I have a lot more that will be up and running. Our new software is a mix between RA , beatport and facebook. Not to toot my own horn but its a big game changer and we have the force to drive it to be a very successful network. We will also be leasing our software for those who want to start their own station. I am up to talk about this further with anyone. [email protected] |
Erich Vallabhaneni 09.07.2012 | I'd totally be interested in playing some if you have space. This should happen. I also would be so down to help out in anyway even if im not mixing. |
Glenn Vanderford 08.07.2012 | I'm willing to help with organizing stuff & other tasks cuz I'm still fairly new to DJing though I have had previous experience with online radio |
Latoria Kavulich 07.07.2012 | official podcast sounds badass too |
Celine Surico 06.07.2012 | It seems that most content owners in EDM has just given up on the illegal use of tracks in podcasts, so it's similar to all the myriads of mixes posted online on mixcrate/mixcloud/soundcloud and so on. If you at least give credits to the tracks so there's something good coming out from using the material for distribution, that's more nice than not even including playlists out of laziness. |
Spencer Kilcoyne 06.07.2012 | Jojo and Rename have it spot on (fwiw I play on the same station as jojo) These things cost money, both in terms of bandwidth and licensing fees to whoever collects these things (PRS in the UK) Someone has to stump up. Live mixes with old mixes on a loop when no-one is playing works for Purple Radio Weekly is way too high frequency for all, many people cannot commit more than a couple of hours a month Podcast licensing is different to live licensing, someone needs to be on top of this 80% of the people who are dead keen now will drop out within the first 6 months. Just, imho and all |

Danae Dumler 06.07.2012 | Count me in. I'll even wear pants. |
Celine Surico 06.07.2012 | Most likely 1000 contributors versus 1 listener ratio. Podcasts are more practical. |
Len Lukawski 06.07.2012 | I'm in and I won't be mixing, I'm Far more interesting than that |
