Record and needle cleaning Posted on: 09.03.2012 by Ninfa Mazariegos How do you clean your vinly? I saw a recomendation for this http://www.jr.com/discwasher/pe/DW_1...ductTabDetailsI've read that the Shure m44-7's like to collect grime and should be cleaned often with a brush and solution. Tania Somppi 04.02.2013 | I use isopropyl alcohol and water for vinyl, applied with a microfibre cloth or Rodec brush. and An ultrasonic bath in isopropyl alcohol for the styli |
Delila Vandommelen 02.02.2013 | Mr Clean Magic Eraser for your needle cleaning needs, one box of three will do you years. As for record cleaning solutions, I'm a bit wary of them, sometimes I swear the surface noise of the record has increased after what looked like a good cleanup. On my control vinyl I don't care so much but... I've pulled quite a few handfuls of hair trying to get a cleaner record for digitizing. |
Teresia Janusch 30.01.2013 | i might rub a record on my t-shirt...or use an anti-static brush...used the same technique for 13+ years needles get brushed with the brush that came with them (Ortofon DJS) when needed |
Brunilda Kora 30.01.2013 | Lighter Fluid, and a dry wipe board wiper. |
Ninfa Mazariegos 29.01.2013 | Found a thread on vinylengine on how to make your own cleaning solutions. http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable...p?f=53&t=31958 |

Danae Dumler 10.03.2012 | Gruv Glide is great but for really dirty records you want Groovy Record Cleaner. Or just soap and water. But for everyday use I use a dry carbon fiber brush so I can play the record right away. This one here is the bomb: http://www.amazon.com/Hunt-Carbon-Fi.../dp/B001A9ST2G You can also clean dry with a lint roller (not the tape kind but the kind with a gooey layer of rubber crap that sticks to things); this sort of thing: http://www.amazon.com/STICKY-LINT-RO.../dp/B000N4LYSK Nagaoka used to make a lint roller style thingie just for records but I don't believe you can find those anymore. But I got a lint roller for five bucks at the drug store and it works fine. And yes it's good to clean your stylus once in a while because they do get coated with gunk. Q-Bert shows how to clean one stylus with another stylus but I find it only works if you have bionic vision. Look for this sort of thing: http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Static-Ca.../dp/B004MJ0OEW There are different ones out there but you want to make sure you get one with a brush with lots of short bristles packed into a tiny space rather than long bristles loosely packed. Here's a good place for a run-down of a lot of different cleaning products available, though their prices can be beat: http://www.needledoctor.com/Online-Store/Record-Cleaner |
Len Lukawski 09.03.2012 | +1 I Continue to be amazed at how much crap it picks up. For those who do use gruv glide, how do you clean the little pads? |
Noelia Martig 09.03.2012 | Try gruve glide this is pretty much the best you can buy. http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CHwQ8wIwAQ# |
