Setup
Setup Posted on: 21.05.2013 by Marjorie Fallucca I learnt to mix drum & bass & hip hop about 17 years ago on Pioneer CDJ-500's (which I still have and that still work) and the same DJM-500 in these pics. Pioneer gear is such great quality and although I have had it all serviced over the years it really is a testament to the build that I am still using the same mixer. I got these Technics about 13 years ago. They are still in immaculate condition and have never needed any kind of service or repair to date. I got TSP 2.5 years ago, however I really started to mix more often and really enjoy a DVS once I got the Kontrol X1. I didn't enjoy having to use a laptop while mixing after having spent all my years of mixing on one level. Having the X1 next to the mixer and never needing to touch the laptop has been a revelation for me. Next step is to get a Z2 and finally retire the DJM-500. I will sell the X1 as I won't need it anymore. I don't need that level of control for effects as they are something I use pretty sparingly. I only have two custom mapping commands - The Beat Jump button is set to reset the pitch to 0, and using Shift with the Loop Encoder I can change active Cues between a Hotcue or a Loop. Hopefully the Z2 allows me to map those same two commands. I am really looking forward to a more simple compact setup - a mixer and two turntables is a match made in heaven - both aesthetically and functionally. | |

Annalisa Shogren 23.05.2013 | http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20cm-Down-...-/261141871093 This one but like 1.5 meters long and with a USB B connection on the end would be great, but i can't find one like that. |
Alphonso Deitchman 23.05.2013 | One of these won't do? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20cm-Down-...-/261141871093 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Down-Right...-/180582331225 |
Annalisa Shogren 23.05.2013 | I've tried looking and there isn't. If you know of any, do let me know. |
Alphonso Deitchman 23.05.2013 | There are all sorts of variations with angled ends at the laptop side too. Just search "USB Angle". |
Annalisa Shogren 23.05.2013 | Yeah, but you'll find that they are angled at the USB B end, and not at the laptop end. |
Alphonso Deitchman 23.05.2013 | There are plenty of angled USB cables and adapters on Ebay. |
Annalisa Shogren 23.05.2013 | It's a shame they don't do them in black, damn |
Marjorie Fallucca 23.05.2013 | I actually bought them on Amazon.co.uk, when I was there as nobody will ship them to NZ unless you want to pay $50 shipping. http://www.hosatech.com/products/550...port_DJ_Series http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hosa-Beatpor.../dp/B0088OU14K |
Annalisa Shogren 22.05.2013 | Where in lords name did you get those L shaped USB cables from, please?! I've been looking for some for ages, but failed miserably. |
Vernita Hanington 21.05.2013 | Nice setup and cool story bro...... Glad u still have all ur original gear, shows care taken and quality of Pioneer and Technics respectively . |
