I can't tell by the pictures, but even with the displays on the Maschine Studio, it's still not stand-alone right? You still have to have it hooked up to your laptop yeah?

Let me be the first to say, I am that asshole who will upgrade his gear for no rhyme or reason. Especially when it comes to Maschine. However aside from 2 additional screens and a VU meter and a few additional buttons I don't see what the big deal is about it. As a MK II (used to own the original as well) owner, i'm completely satisfied with my MK II. And for those of you who own the Mk I, the MK II's pads are a huge upgrade. I absolutely love how playable and finger friendly it is now. So given everything i've said, I doubt unless there is some other significant upgrade to the hardware that i'm unaware of I doubt i'll be upgrading.

Does look an interesting development, as long as Maschine 2.0 SW is available to and supports existing owners, I'll be happy sticking with my MkII.

Stuff I can make out from google translation:
- Maschine 2.0 update will be 99€
- Multicore support
- Built-in drum synth
- Sidechaining
- Unlimited groups and effects slots
- gate function for note repeat
- multiple selection and editing of Sounds and Groups
- macros for all sounds, groups and master
- new Plate Reverb
- Program Change to the presets VST / AU plug-ins

Built-in stand.

Color display look dope and it's got more dedicated buttons. Looks like the scene arranger now shows you how long each scene is visually:

NI has stated on their own site that they plan on supporting the original Maschine for a very long time.

Not sure if I care, hell the mk2 wasn't enough to get me to switch from my mk1. Depending on the features I'd probably only be a buyer if I sank some money into a decent desktop.

Damnit! Is this real? I was gonna upgrade soon and as a production thing I was gonna get a MK2 but now I can't because you need to have the newest things and be hip.

To johnnypepp:

I hear you, man. I know it's annoying. But, unfortunately, it's apparently profitable. They want to sell as much old product as possible before revealing their next release. It's a pretty common business model, actually (not that it makes it ok).

As long as the hardware is compatible with the software updates, it's not really a big deal. I like that Maschine is moving towards becoming a real DAW.

You misunderstand what I mean, I have no problem with them releasing new products. It is their lack of communication torwards their userbase that annoys me. This is how I feel, I don't claim it's a fact.

Which is exactly why they didn't let you in on their plans.

I have an Audio 10. I have Maschine MK2. I have no use for Maschine Studio. I'm happy. But I'm glad this new Maschine is an available option. Why not have more choices?

Also, you have more options now since you own a Maschine and a separate audio interface. This can be an advantage, as you don't have to always have them linked together.

Yeah I know, they are supposed to co-exist like mikro, MKII, and then the studio. I'm just annoyed because I would have paid, and I have nearly paid that amount (including external audio interface) for such a product and again NI is gonna come out of nowhere, announce and release it in a 2 week window or something. It just sucks if you're the kind of person who has to make a lot of effort to save up some money, and are an absolute horror about making purchase discisions. Hey, I can always get 2.0 faceplates right?

mostly just controllers. other gear seems to have a much longer viable life and holds its value a lot longer.

Even my Motu audio interface came out over 10 years ago and is still supported and works great.

Interesting, as long as they keep supporting the MK1 I'm happy with it.

These updates mostly seem mostly insignificant- you can get a used MK1 with software for under $200. $1000 can buy you some nice real hardware and open you up to a different world...

Yes, you're mostly right. But the thing that really grates is the fact that you don't know with NI what's coming up. they are so closed about their product development and they have been completely silent about maschine for a year, except for some expansion packs and some promo vids. I know new stuff will always come out and your gear gets outdated, but the MKII is a year old, I find it lacking in respect to your base who have allready payed a lot of money, to keep em in the dark like that. sure, noone is is forcing me to buy the new one, but I was under the impression that I was paying for something that would be a standard piece of gear for some time to come. had I known that this was coming I would have waited a while longer and not bought a mkII plus audio interface (wich is integrated in this one it seems).

so yeah, it's mostly a hindsight thing.

EDIT : Also, if they made a modular addon, everyone could just add it to their existing setup. Now you either have to sell your old one and get a new one, or just buy it new and have a double software license and an spare small one lying around, either way, you lose more money, yay.
