I wonder how many unopened, untouched boxed 1200s there are still sitting in warehouses around the world today

I dunno why. Im sure a lot of people would buy them.

They are restricted in the fact that they are only 4 minutes long but as i play a lot of funk and northern soul type stuff at some of my gigs its fun using them like old funk 45s.
That's neat you guys should produce them. Also are there new colors, lemme check that would be sweet if you made neon yellow/green vinyl.

I have a few extra turntables at the moment- 8 total be exact.

I bought out a bar that closed down and got 5 1200 MK2s and a GLI TT for $600. I am cleaning the Technics and refurbishing them. A couple pitches need replacing or might be able to be salvaged, they need to be cleaned up, 4 pop up lights are out too and I am going to be replacing all the cables with the high quality monoprice cables I got. I might remove the pitch lick and do an external ground removal mod while I'm at it. I just ordered 12 full conversion LED kits to replace all the lights on the Technics I have along with extra sets for future tables I plan to buy and fix up and sell, plus a set for my black MK5s.

I am swapping parts around so I have 4 good perfectly working pairs and then the 5th might end up being kept just for parts or I could probably refurb it too and sell it, the case has a small dent and I need to buy a bunch of replacement feet but they are like $20 a piece so I'm going to try to just find some more broken technics for cheap. I might do some custom super high quality and well sanded gloss paint jobs too.

It will be a fun projet and I will make at least $1000 off two pairs (I have someone who wants one pair for 900 already when I finish one).

I'll be honest, I LOVE my dn-hs5500s setup, but it's getting pretty obvious now that I Spend more and more time with my vci-100.. the kind of stuff you can pull on a vci-100 is simply impossible on a traditional setup, and its breaking my heart

Still loving vinyl for the tactile aspects of it all!

Though MIDI is giving me nice new additions, even while I am not into auto SYNCing.

Would even buy 2 if they would be available without a mixer!
Just to put them in my collection somewhere, as a divider

cheers man. I hosted regional album launch for the "We Are The Night" album and i got a load of goodies to give out.
I kept the slipmats for myself, along with a Chemical Brothers UDG Record bag.
I love swag..!

To be honest the Chems slipmats are just for show. The print on them is so thick it would scratch the vinyl :-(

I'm starting to get a horrible feeling that with the more midi gear i get, the more i lose the ability to.. just mix

Got a 2 hour set opening for Josh Roberts on Monday evening .. I'm torn between a 2 Deck DVS setup or full out midi... Joshy's an incredible house DJ on CDJs (honestly, check him out if you've never heard of him http://bit.ly/4G0icv - download one of his mixes) he's resident at MOS Ibiza at the moment, quality stuff! When I've played with him before, he's always a bit scorny about Controllerism, and takes the piss quite a lot. Having said that, he hasn't seen my VCI arcade yet...

I'm also supporting quite a housey evening , so I'm prepared to crack out the top 40 (shudders...) and RnB. Luckily it's a fairly rah crowd, so some DnB can fit in somewhere...

The only thing stopping me from going CD is that I feel I could massively fuck up, as I don't have any available to practice on, and haven't played on them for a while. Is it like riding a bicycle?

Don't go cheap, get some used Technics for the same price and a DVS or get CDJ-400s at the least. If you are pressed for cash some Denons will do and I would get DNS 3500s over 200s.

When I had no cash, I'd buy some good 12"s here and there which I'd rip for traktor use on the family TT. Meanwhile, I practiced traktor with pitch faders only, anticipating for a brighter future with a classic setup. After realizing the possibilities of full digital, I stopped buying wax. Still, I purchased a bag, stuffed everything in it and it is now at a friend's who has a pair of not so fancy vestax and a small djm 300.

I'd never spinned them (although I knew them in and out), and my only vinyl experience was from a few minutes of ping-pong with him and his records that I didn't know.

When I took it to his place, we toured a few vinyl shops in Paris for his collection (with the 12ton bag punching holes in my shoulders) then headed home and I played most of what I had for two hours. He had to pry me off the decks and I've been looking for excuses to go back there to play some more since then

Unfortunately (for me ) I helped him convert to traktor+mpds so he only has one deck left for sampling... For me, both digital and old school are really fun in different ways and I'm waiting for my pilgrimage on a pair of 1200s with that record bag
