That's what I thought. I was one of those who felt it was cheating. I liked the aspect of the skill of keeping these rather mechanical pieces of gear
with a needle being dragged across some plastic grooves in time with each other.
I then tried some CDJ's and found them pretty fun. Was about to buy some, but then found out about all this controller stuff. I prefer having music on a HDD. Not really a CD fan. Def better, at least, to use USB sticks |

Sorry if I was misunderstood. I wasn't referring to his build up. If I wanted to hear that I would youtube the master of disaster. Only Laidback Luke can jack off pointlessly for half an hour and then play a hideous track.

I Just watched the whole thing and I agree with you completely. Looks like a jam of a time.
I just figured you were talking about the song itself. |

And yeah that Klansman thing was like WTF?! I'm glad someone posted that info about Nazarenos because otherwise if I ever do go to Ibiza and see some of those I'd be pretty freaked out. Hope they don't ever wander into the wrong neighborhood dressed like that in the states....
On Halloween some dude was dressed up as a Klansman... But he was black so it was acceptable. |

Can't quite get that the same on Traktor, whether using sync, or not.
However if using F1, have to use sync.
Timbo --- we're on a similar paths. I used to play on 1200's in the 90's, then stopped DJing for about 10 yeas as well. When the bug hit me again, I jumped on Traktor and a VCI-100 and that little machine has some life to it, but it wasn't the same. I tried numerous controllers and it wasn't until I jumped on Serato and a mixer with two decks that I felt the same enjoyment even if my feature set was limited. |

about 1 minute and 27 seconds. sometimes I hold loops with effects (over an existing track) longer than that. |

This. Also since you were asking about Serato -- the two main views are whole numbers and percentage -- you only get decimals on the stacked view which is the crappiest.

Edwardo Rothenberger 21.09.2012 | Damn, just watched that video. Really made me want to go to Ibiza again, and leave the kids at home, lol. Reminded me of a foam party I went to in 1990 in Pacha. That was mental. Mind you, the main crowd seemed to have a lot of geezers. Most of the women seemed to be in the vip bit. |

I use Traktor and I press SYNC and then turn it off by manipulating the pitch bend till the mix sounds correct.
why would I waste time searching for the BPM with a slider when a computer can estimate it and my ears can fine tune it.
plus an annoying thing about Traktor is that the slider sometimes won't match the exact BPM (even in Fine pitch mode)
so you load a track that's 124.00 and then try to mix a new track, manually using the slider, and it will only let you have 123.98 or 124.02.
you hit SYNC and you get 124.00. An exact match.

Jay Lumen (the DJ in the video) is mixing CD's which means you get no assistance. it's straight old school beatmatching.
The new CDJ-2000 Nexus has sync.

Edwardo Rothenberger 21.09.2012 | Out of interest. Do CDJ set ups give you bpm read out with it altering as you change tempo, like Traktor does, or is the tempo matching purely done by ear, like in the vinyl days? |

Jerica Salava 20.09.2012 | you guys can speak your mind. i do it all the time. I'm a big boy, my feelings won't get hurt. I live in Miami Florida. I've been hitting WMC since 1999. I've seen the best and the worst. The real and the pretenders. I thought this video had a good vibe. I would have enjoyed to be there. The crowd in the video was a little lame, but that's because David Guetta wasn't playing. Maybe they've been partying for 5 days straight. It is Ibiza after all. |
