Will They Blend - VOTING TIME Posted on: 15.02.2011 by Dorcas Bassignani Original Thread Direct Link to set on Soundcloud So, the idea was simple... Take 10 tracks, spanning 5 styles (dubstep, breaks, house, techno and dnb - 2 of each) and mix them together. The idea of this challenge was to push the creative boundaries of people, as opposed to normal mix competitions where you just throw down any tracks you like. The trick was to show the most ingenious use of the tracks supplied. These are the 5 entries received The Tracks; Biometrix - Bass Skanker Chris Lake and Marco Lys - Stay Cyberoptix - Geisha Dopamine/Diverted - Only One (BLIM remix) Jason Fernades / Hugo Paixo - Intruder Kiko & Ginos - Anse Vasta Kuilema vs Rosyroze - Ay Que Linda (Original Mix) Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass (Commix remix) Ram Trilogy - Grid Lock (Break remix) The Rogue Element - My Style Mix 1 http://soundcloud.com/bradcee/1-1 Ram Trilogy - Gridlock Biometrix - Bassline Skanker Jason Fernandes - Intruder Kiko and Ginos - Anse Vasta Dopamine and Diverter - Only One Kuilema - Ay Que Linda Rogue Element - My Style Cyberoptix - Geisha Chris Lake - Stay Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass Mix 2 http://soundcloud.com/bradcee/2-1 list is coming, found it but feeling a bit lazy Mix 3 http://soundcloud.com/bradcee/3-1 Jason Fernades / Hugo Paixo - Intruder Link (techno) Kiko & Ginos - Anse Vasta Link (techno) Cyberoptix - Geisha Link (dub step) Biometrix - Bass Skanker Link (dub step) The Rogue Element - My Style Link (breaks) Dopamine/Diverted - Only One (BLIM remix) Link (breaks) Ram Trilogy - Grid Lock (Break remix) Link (drum and bass) Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass (Commix remix) Link (drum and bass) Kuilema vs Rosyroze - Ay Que Linda (Original Mix) Link (house) Chris Lake and Marco Lys - Stay Link (house) Mix 4 http://soundcloud.com/bradcee/4-1 Beastie Boys - Intergalactic (SAMPLE) Jason Fernades / Hugo Paixo - Intruder Chris Lake and Marco Lys - Stay Kiko & Ginos - Anse Vasta Dopamine/Diverted - Only One (BLIM remix) Kuilema vs Rosyroze - Ay Que Linda (Original Mix) The Rogue Element - My Style Cyberoptix - Geisha Biometrix - Bass Skanker Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass (Commix remix) Ram Trilogy - Grid Lock (Break remix) Mix 5 http://soundcloud.com/bradcee/5-1 Rogue Element - My Style Kiko & Ginos - Anse Vasta Kuilema vs Rosyroze - Ay Que Linda Jason Fernades / Hugo Paixo - Intruder Chris Lake and Marco Lys - Stay Dopamine/Diverted - Only One (BLIM remix) Cyberoptix - Geisha Biometrix - Bass Skanker Origin Unknown - Lunar Bass (Commix remix) Ram Trilogy - Grid Lock (Break remix) Fatboy Slim - Champion Sound (Fatboy Slim remix) - Sample proactive edit while obviously feedback/opinions on these will be greatly received, try to keep it constructive and not start flaming. | |

Charline Dye 17.02.2011 | #4 pulls away from the pack with photojojo's vote. LOL @ Deviant. I'm lazy, but we had to send the list in with our mix, so Brad would just have to copy and paste. I'm curious to see who did the most drastic bpm changes. Also I have listened to those songs for 2 weeks plus while working on the mix, listened to 5 mixes of them 2-3 times, listened to specific transitions several times, and I am a little tired of them at this point |
Leeanna Ayla 16.02.2011 | I voted, but it was really a hard decision. |
Stephan Denigris 16.02.2011 | love the concept and dedication! |

Dorcas Bassignani 16.02.2011 | Can I be cheeky and ask a mod to sticky this til poll ended? |
Danae Dumler 16.02.2011 | I have to say this was a brilliant idea for a contest; I hope there are more of these. Still listening to them all but the ones I've listened to so far have blown me away. Inspiring! Thanks!! |

But then 5 had quite a few transitions that were really impressive. Great use of FX too. So in the end I gave my love to 5 but it was close all around. All 5 of them had their moments to shine for sure. |

Melinda Shick 15.02.2011 | This was a really good idea, i'd like to do the same thing again in the future!
I would like a breakdown of some of these transitions (how they were achieved) after this is over.
|
Antonetta Wikel 16.02.2011 | Really great job done by all with some VERY different tracks. It was quite interesting to see the differences in mixing styles. I'm betting those Latin House horns gave more than a few of you evening mares or at least kept you up at evening . Thanks BradCee for organizing a really interesting "experiment" in mixing. |
Charline Dye 16.02.2011 | There were brilliant moments in all of them. I really liked comparing how different people mix the same songs. A couple used the oriental flavor of Bassline Skanker and Geisha together, a few used some of the same spots to transition, etc.; but what I really liked was the big differences in how they were mixed. Some truely brilliant transitions in these. #5 loved his gater, and used it amazingly! #4 used fx in some very cool ways, and the first 2/3's of the mix was very nice! Last 1/3 was also good, it's just the other was slammin. (also got my vote) I would like a breakdown of some of these transitions (how they were achieved) after this is over. |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 15.02.2011 | Good god man. You have made more polls than the Guardian. You ought to know what your doing now. |
Dorcas Bassignani 15.02.2011 | quick, dumb question... never set an end time on a poll before, what happens when it ends? do results disappear, or stay there? |
Melinda Shick 15.02.2011 | Gave them all a listen, very impressive guys! Voted 2, like what they did with the first dubstep transition from the horns. |
nayit ruiz jaramillo 15.02.2011 | Voted. Well done guys. |

Melinda Shick 15.02.2011 | Will listen to the others toevening
and make my vote. Good luck all! |
Dorcas Bassignani 15.02.2011 | lol, now dropping the edit |
Latoria Kavulich 15.02.2011 | dont forget i live 13 hours in the future so i already know i like the 4th one best |
Dorcas Bassignani 15.02.2011 | lol, now what if you don't like that one? |
Latoria Kavulich 15.02.2011 | added my prediction. |
