DJTT Drum & Bass Train

DJTT Drum & Bass Train

All aboard!

Ok, I decided that this really needs to happen.
It's gonna be a 2 hour (6x20min) mix.

Whoever wants on speak up.

Some guidelines blatantly copied from Jester:
- The new DJ gives room to the previous DJs last track to develop
- DJs won't touch the tempo of the previous DJs, but will buildup/slowdown BPM during the set.

All styles of Drum & Bass are welcome, I'm personally planning to play some Techstep & Neurofunk.

On Board:
1. MIDIfidler
2. Bigheadmikelove
3. crass.mix
4. Citizen_Insane
5. Theory
6. Tekki

thats alright. it was just a suggestion

so are we having the guy before us send the mix upto his part, then i would load it in deck A, hit record, let it play and when the last song is on i would mix my first song in?

or are we all sending them to one person who will do that?

crass, what do you want me to end off with (more aggressive, less aggressive, hard, smooth, etc etc) and all. I have a different version of the earlier mix I put up it is here lemme know if that ending is more acceptable.

Yeah the file size isn't actually that big of a deal. a 1 hour mix in .wav is around 650MB, if you set your file size limit to 2GB for recording then we're fine. Also listening to what the others have played would I believe help get us in the mood for our parts, help us streamline our part into the mix. Far more likely to get a streamlined mix that way than if we just edited it all together.

Also I just uploaded a mix I recorded a couple days ago, might give you guys an idea of the kind of stuff to expect from my part:

Aha, no worries then. Also if it's at all possible could we get a key signature from the incoming track as I don't have access to my guitar at the moment (it's in dallas at my father's house) and I don't have mixed in key yet. It would help me out immensely. Also wouldn't it be a bit easier to have one person edit the whole thing together...It wouldn't be so bad for me because I come after someone early, but for the later people wouldn't traktor have a problem with files that large?

Listened to what you mixed and it's good. I believe it's best if we do it by having each person mix off of the previous person's part. As such (this goes for everone) please provide what BPM you finished at. Being two minutes over might be workable, probably a fair bit more workable if it were a minute over, but yeah, best to just see what MIDIFidler puts together to get this thing rolling.

Yeah, probably best to just wait for what MIDIFidler does. If you wanna go with something entire different by all means do so, you'll just need to find a good song or two to get there. I'm about to go to bed but I'll listen to what you put together in the morning, if it's anything like your previous mix I'll enjoy it.

Theory, as for the powerpuffgirls intro, might work as a break of sorts to reset the mood for your part? Not sure it's gonna set the right vibe for what MIDIFidler is gonna do, really have no clue what he's planning.

I just listened to the above mix...I realize that it ends terribly now (never, ever use the Phaser believeing that it's on flux when it isnt or else things sound like that also don't overuse the beatslicer) I really should just wait my turn but that's kinda the vibe I go with MF lemme know if it's too relaxed... Sorry about that all

12.11.2010
oh shi-

ill re do it tomorrow, i didnt realize the fader was at 100% when i brought in nexus (sorry its late) its supposed to be at 50 and i bring it up slowly.

well, now you have an idea of how it would be
Maisie Marras
12.11.2010
heres the intro, should you choose to use it. i wont take it personally, it only means i can use it myself later lol. here: http://soundcloud.com/theory28/powde...ix-train-intro

One idea...
22:47 (Sorry...) 175 BPM and it starts in B Minor and ends in B flat Minor (or 10A and 3A if you are a camelot wheel user)

Gulfway Cartel - Harvest Dub
Madcap - Red October

LoLz... Might be dropping bombs in the end.

(Or do you want me to end with the same theme as you start with, MIDIfidler? )
Marguerite Salsedo
12.11.2010
Umm, I dunno. I guess we'll have to discuss using that as an intro... maybe make a recording of what it will sound like?
Each persons slot should be kept as close to 20 minutes as possible since we're should try to keep this thing at or just under the 2 hour mark.
Maisie Marras
12.11.2010
no not the opening, just an intro (ppgirls theme and sigma- nexus then he can take it from there)

and ill take the 5th slot

but 20- 40 minutes is ok right?

EDIT: here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mmCMUPCNgE

then ill loop the break right before the fighting and ill bring in nexus. (ive tested this several times, it sounds great

BE WARNED! the start will be slow and then during the build up for nexus i bring it to normal speed (mentioning this just to avoid confusion if you give me the green light on it)
Marguerite Salsedo
12.11.2010
Alright, crass and Theory are filling the remaining slots, choices are 3rd or 5th, I've arbitrarily slotted you guys in for now.

@Theory: sorry man, MIDIFidler had called dibs on the opening slot.
Maisie Marras
12.11.2010
damn. my collection isnt large enough for a 80 minute slot

ill be happy to do a 20- 40 minute one though if thats ok

If that's ok with you all of course...

can i do the intro?
its going to be the powder puff theme song going into sigma- nexus

and then fidler can take it from there
