Your Gig/ Party Pics
Posted on: 25.10.2010 by Wanda Insel
Hi there,

I was believeing that although we all speak daily about where we play and what we do for parties/ gigs/ actual DJ jobs, everyone else doesn't get to see it so why not start this thread to upload pics from said Gigs/ parties etc that you play anytime (if you feel they are generally viewable , I'll leave out mine where I'm wearing cowboy boots and nothing else).

My latest ones were at the end of the thread below so I won't post again:

Let's see some of yours then so we can all get a flavour of the places we all ply our trade!!!!

Nice gig Michielygil! I reckon that there was a lot of splashing around, maybe that's why stuff broke down? Then again, a deck-cover for your mixer would be hard to work with.

I know, I was pretty happy it wasn't my gear. Also, check out the case my friend made for covering his macbook. Smart huh?

I'm living in barca temporarily as a student, but if I keep getting DJ gigs I'm considering getting a cheap flat and staying here and working part time, I have dual US and UK citizenship so I could do it legally. Where abouts in barca do you live?
I live in the Raval area, not much more than 10 minutes away from the BLVD club. PMing you

Dexeus that's awesome!! Congratulations on the bookings man! Very very cool!
Thanks dude I appreciate it, I was so nervous beforehand so for it to all go so well really was amazing, I have another show there this week so hopefully they'll be some more photos and stuff to show you guys. never doubt the power of a midi controller haha!

the lights look awesome. what creates the small dots all over the place? laser vs discoball?

always great to hear about such experiences. congrats and everything, man.
Thanks man! I was so excited when everything finally came together, it was the best feeling in the world. I'm pretty clueless about the lights to be honest, but it did seem like they had some sort of laser system so maybe there were directing it through a discoball? I'm going back to the same place to play this tues so maybe I can find out more then.

The gifs only annoyed my laptop, the gifs themselves were pretty cool.

Though I really dislike the whole anchors/"I'm a sailor"-bullcrap that seems to be raging (mostly for tattoos though, but I dislike all "trend-tattoos"), I really liked the fact that one laptop seemed personalized :3

Unfortunately, I have no audio- or video-recording of any of my sets.

But in reality, they don't sound all that different from my music itself, only with more glitches, beatmashing, build-ups, filter-playing etc for some of the tracks or the master (usually the drumtrack gets abused the most). I only play my own stuff (a few cover-versions too, like a low-tempo jazzy Doctor Who-theme etc), using Ableton Live, so I get to play around with the different clips and scenes.

Barely related, there are some tunes free to download at Soundcloud and an entire digi-album (released shortly before christmas, hand-drawn cover and everything on the real-life-release) is hosted here on MediaFire at the moment. Imagine those things, just more glitched and gated on the different tracks. I rely heavily on NI's The Finger for Reaktor and Traktors 12' for Guitar Rig when playing around live.

Now that I'm going to use the community s, or at least try to, I figured that this might be a good place to start (after the introduction thread).

So to start, here's a few from my first gig, from Klubb Kanin V
