So who ordered a Z2?
So who ordered a Z2? Posted on: 01.11.2012 by Johnsie Kingrea Anyone ordered one and received it yet? | |
Erich Vallabhaneni 07.11.2012 | I wanna say I heard the same thing, the mini inno's in the Z2 have 2 settings you can choose from if you take them out of the mixer and flip a switch. I might be wrong as well though |

Lina Rawie 07.11.2012 | I got mine today, but I won't be able to set it up until tomorrow. I took it out of the box to have a look though. Build quality seems decent. The crossfader feels really nice, but the line faders - whose idea was it to put faders that stiff in a mixer?? I also bought an Innofader Pro, so I'm going to put that in as the crossfader, then I'll use the original crossfader as one of the line faders and buy another loose mini Innofader (when they're available) for the other line fader. |
Leeanna Ayla 07.11.2012 | Out of curiosity I just connected the Z2 to my 08 2.4 ghz iMac with 4 gigs pf ram. Using 2.6 I was able to activate all FX banks using macro FX, fill the sample slots and flux mode my ass off with no hiccups. So it's most probably the overdue maintenance on my MBP that's causing the problems. |

Cassidy Galindez 06.11.2012 | i only have 4 gigs and have none of the issues described with high CPU usage in 2.6 or any of the cracks/pops using the Z2, even with flux mode, key lock and macro effects running. I would assume your unit is defective or there is something else holding you up that you have not explored yet. |
Rochel Papillion 06.11.2012 | http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2012/11...trol-z2-mixer/ the section under setting up talks about the trouble he had setting up Z2. And yes 4 gb is gonna do that. When I bought mine and using it with traktor 2.5, my CPU would go crazy, luckily i found 8 gb for cheap so I totally upgraded. |
Leeanna Ayla 06.11.2012 | There is no driver for a Mac that I'm aware of, in fact it says that in the manual. My RAM light is flashing and I've never really bothered upgrading from the 4 gig it came with so I just ordered 8 gigs from OWC that will be here tomorrow. That's really something I should have done a long time ago anyway. When using the Z2 it does default to 48000, and I've always ran at 44100 so that may be what's pushing it over the edge. |
Rochel Papillion 06.11.2012 | THe guy at digital dj tips had problem with his Z2 too, something about the driver |

Leeanna Ayla 06.11.2012 | Hooked up the Z2 and got serious fluctuations in the load meter with pops and crackles while playing a song. Tried to go back to using the A10, which worked just fine yesterday and got the same load on the load meter. Might have a Z2 for sale here pretty soon. |

At least with my S4 it's roll in....plug into a channel on the existing mixer...and away we go. |

It's so annoying when I'm spinning at a club and like the opening DJ and myself are using timecode, and then the last guy is using a kontrol S4, so I have to do this whole juggling routine with taking one TT out on the fly unplugging it and making room for the massively wide S4 or S2. Note, this also pertains to all the Pioneer DDJ users as well. I don't have anything against controler users (I used to use a controler for my gigs) but the reality is that there simply isn't much space in the booth. |
Barton Rigazio 06.11.2012 | Looks like I'm ordering me a new Z2 :-) |
Hanna Ridenbaugh 06.11.2012 | Anyone going to be taking it to clubs to use? |
Lina Rawie 06.11.2012 | I bit the bullet and ordered one. It arrives tomorrow, along with an Innofader Pro. |
Rosina Steinkuehler 06.11.2012 | Nice pairing with the 3900's. I love mine! In z2 news - On FedEx vehicle for delivery.. Gonna be a long day! |
Evelynn Pennycook 06.11.2012 | Ordered mine from zzounds.com, still listed as backordered but they said they expect shipments in today or tomorrow. Going to be pairing it with the Denon's 3900s and and F1. Should be a nice setup |

Glennis Cartin 05.11.2012 | And Craze's video has dropped! |
Lina Rawie 03.11.2012 | The guy I mentioned on page 1 of this thread received his Z2 yesterday and first impressions are good: -
Very happy indeed so far. Makes Traktor a much friendlier place - I'm definitely more of a hardware kind of person, without any mapping skills, so it's approach suits me. Not an all out battle mixer - the crossfader is surprisingly good, but the ups are set way too stiff. One day mine will have a full inno in the cross fader and the free moving variant of the mini-innos in the ups, but for now it's fine. It's not every answer to every problem, like a 62, but for the money it does a lot and does it well. I'd speculate that some of it's shortcomings will be improved upon with future software updates (I bought maschine when it came out with a few flaws that were all fixed with subsequent free updates). As predicted you can't use it's FX when in real vinyl mode (yet)... but when scratching with DVS, I believe it's the tightest and most like using real vinyl I've ever experienced. If you did buy one now and found that you couldn't stand it, you'd probably be able to sell it on with minimal loss. Let me know any specific things you want to know and I'll do my best to help.
For me, it's made some of traktor's abilities so much more accessible - I've used more of what traktor can do in the last few hours than I've done with the software in the previous two years. Software with dedicated hardware is definitely my preferred working method for both DJing and production though... and so far, I've found the Z2 more reliable than midi mappings with other controllers. Early days, but so far, so good.

Rochel Papillion 03.11.2012 | I tihnk the people geting Z2 might be interested in this |
Dung Domingus 03.11.2012 | All you who pre-ordered are lucky. I have two stanton str8-150's and a f1 sitting mixer-less and lonely. I'll be ordering a z2 by the end of the month though . Looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion of it when they get them. |
Kori Shatz 02.11.2012 | Wednesday for me in Chicago - I am like an old kid waiting for Christmas!!! |
Kanesha Bredin 02.11.2012 | Lucky rascals. My estimated ship date is by the end of the day on Thursday... This is going to be a long weekend and next week. |
Leeanna Ayla 02.11.2012 | Yeah I'm looking at Tuesday as well. Good thing though because I have a show on Monday and I would probably try and use it live fresh out of the box. |
Rosina Steinkuehler 02.11.2012 | Guess monday is the big day for everyone. Mine should be here tuesday. |
Leeanna Ayla 02.11.2012 | Don't have it yet, it's just the order has shipped. |
