Deadmau5: "burn all electronic music down, i don't care"
Deadmau5: "burn all electronic music down, i don't care" Posted on: 27.11.2012 by Rochel Papillion Dj Sneak got all butt hurt over this interview, which then started a bunch of other people stating their opinion about EDM 90s rave and techno on twitter and facebook!http://www.mixmag.net/words/news/dea...wn-i-dont-care | |
Cassidy Galindez 28.11.2012 | He's spot on, but we are often times comparing apples to oranges in this discussion. This whole pissing contest is as old as mankind, it's how we do. |
Salvatore Husley 28.11.2012 | fuck fuck fuck fuck... that's all i got out of your post. |
Carlee Pickard 28.11.2012 | Fuck mainstream bullshit, and fuck this fucking stupid fucking group mentality bullshit that goes on in (every) scenes. "Omg Deadmau5 hater? YEAH YOU TOO?!" it's SO stupid. Do you not have enough of a brain to formulate your own opinion? And if you believe his music is shit, you're out of your fucking mind. I only heard a few tracks here and there off his most recent release and was extremely impressed by the productions and the sounds and overall enjoyed them. Get the fuck over it. Learn to believe. Spread love, not hate. GO FUCKING PRACTICE INSTEAD OF RANTING ON FORUMS. I'm done . <3 |
Nedra Fresneda 29.11.2012 | Another mau5 rant yawn |
Nestor Epper 29.11.2012 | I believe deadmau5 is spot on. Music is meant to evolve. It will always be changing and mutating. If someone believes that it should stay "pure" and they way it was 10 years ago they will be left behind. No one wants to hear the same thing forever. It gets really boring. I still believe song selection is important. Yea just about anyone can "string together some tunes" but you have to believe about how the tracks will effect the audience. |
Lilliana Perris 29.11.2012 | Yep....and I am sure he realizes that ANY publicity is good publicity....so he just has his say and lets it blow up and watches from the stands. Its clever in a way... |
Sherrell Dargenio 28.11.2012 | I don't even like deadmau5 but I find I often agree with the guy, even if he is a pompous douche. Sneak's ranting and ravings are getting so tiring to read and he's honestly just as full of shit as everyone else. By 'calling out' other DJs, he's really just doing anything to keep the spotlight on himself so he can sell his House Gangster line of clothes. He calls out SHM because they sold out, but he just branded house music into a clothing line and is making a profit. I actually like Sneak too, but him being agaisnt any sort of change makes him sound like an old rambling man saying sideburns are for hippies. |
Romelia Stankard 28.11.2012 | can we ban deadmau5 threads? |
Lillia Datson 28.11.2012 | He's absolutely right. He seems to just nail the point, without skirting around what people all believe and most importantly know but will never say outright. Props to him. |
Carisa Ridgel 28.11.2012 | sarasin, yea, I've seen this video before, I believe it was even posted around here a couple of weeks bag. I have to agree, though I don't care much for his music, he seems like a nice enough guy, in fact very well spoken and I believe he brings a great point regarding internet VS. taking it to the real world. gonna read the mixmag article now with that video in the back of my mind |
Lilliana Perris 28.11.2012 |
Take a look at this interview. It is not fair, to judge old Deadmau5 on a few 5min interviews. He is not going to get HIS point across proper. This vid above really impressed me (I was a DeadMau5 hater too). He is just an average dude....that feels he needs to stand for his morals and beliefs. Cant fault him after this interview...seriously. |
Jonas Hanway 28.11.2012 | Both do different things so shouldn't be compared. Deadmau5 is an entertainer/performer and all round amazing producer. He openly admits he doesn't DJ. He puts on a show. DJ Sneak is an accomplished DJ and producer. He is all about being a skillful DJ not a performer per se. But I agree with what Deadmau5 has said. Sneak would prefer that the dance music scene (hate the term EDM) never alter. So stuck in his archaic ways I'm surprised he's moved onto newer technology. |
Alla Bluemke 28.11.2012 | haha yeah. Never said I liked that fellow either lol. |
Tesha Freudenstein 28.11.2012 | on the other hand: DJ Sneak is butthurt all the time |
Alla Bluemke 28.11.2012 | DM is a bitter artist who can't really entertain much anymore other then being that loud a-hole everyone hates. He's just butt hurt he is getting left behind with the progression of music. |
Elizabet Sledz 28.11.2012 | I don't believe it really was about him being dispassionate about EDM music as a total. He (at least from what I understood from the interview) didn't feel protective about the state of the scene now. He's going on to talk about evolution of Electronic music as a general, and how he felt that by being protective, it's slowing innovation and progression within music. DJ Sneak is just an example of somebody he feels fitting that category of not shifting, and hindering that progression. (By the way, I fucking love that Washing Machine metaphor), and then feels it necessary to bash the current state of house for where it's progressed to. Didn't see it as particularly controversial, I just believe the 'burn' quote can be taken completely out of context. Found the interview actually kinda interesting =P |
Latoria Kavulich 28.11.2012 | Controversial interview: marketing. The terrorists win |
Antonetta Wikel 28.11.2012 | Never owned nor liked ANYTHING by Douchemau5. I do however, own some DJ Sneak tunes. I'd wager Sneak will still be somewhat relevant long after Deadmau5 is, well, Dead. |
Lela Umanskaya 28.11.2012 | I bet these two are best friends when the media isn't around |
Margie Pavell 27.11.2012 | "Canadian found with two records and mixer stuck up his ass, witnesses say it was a big puerto rican" |
