first step to dubstep

So, I wanted to try out creating something dubsteppy. This is what I got so far, so thought Id upload it and see what you guys thought. Its not mastered or anything just so you know.

I just wanted to see where I ended up and this where I am so far, any thoughts, ideas or critizism. Hit me!

Reminds me of skream..good job. The only gripe i have about it is the hats..its cluttering the whole mix. Try a different hat and eq and compress..might make the mix sound great

Good start!

Have you tried cutting out the actual "kick" part of your reverse kick and using a forward(normal) kick at the same time? I do that sometimes, so I'll have the reverse kick coming in and I'll draw a filter cutoff in the sample just before it actually hits, but the "forward" kick will be there to replace the reverse. That way you get the real kick, but also the lead-in from the reverse, which sounds pretty cool.

Thanks mate, changed around the kick now so should be a lot harder. Not sure what you mean with the lfo'd base synth? since im already using one lfo'd synth, wouldnt it just sound weird having another one beneath that?

I believe you have a good framework, just add some lfo'd bass synth, and some harder hitting kicks and you have a winner.

Also, I love the reverse bass, I use that In alot of my productions too.

Great job!
