I agree, if i have different needs and a certain program can see to those needs quickly and efficiently then i find myself jumping from one daw to the next. Nothing extreme, but i find myself back in cubase for the final mixdown as i am familiar with the plugins and techniques etc. but for getting my creative juices going, i always start in ableton, simply for its ease and fast access.

I agree with the point in try everything, discard that that doesnt work and keep in mind that which does

The program is as only as good as the person operating it. 9th wonder, lex luger, and deadmau5 all use fl studio
You're right, but deadmau5 does alos use ableton as well as fl for everything.

The biggest diffrence between diffrent DAWs is the workflow they all are built on very similar sound engines and there for neither will have better audio fidelity. Most pro's use multiple DAWs for diffrent reasons. Example (IMO) - The piano roll in FL is AMAZING and the equivilent in Ableton is a little bad in comparison.

Best advice is try both demo's and see which works for you. Also FL is a lot cheaper which may help your decision.

I've tried both of these programs and to be honest i could not get used to using ableton, i have been using FL since its release pretty much and now with FL studio there really isn't much you can't do with it, pretty much any plug in will work with it nowadays (any worth a mention anyway) and if you are mainly sample based then there is no limit to what you can do. But to be sure you have to at least try demo's of other DAWs just so you know what you like.....

Saying that, Madeon who did the famous Pop Culture uses FL Studio for his productions. I remember when he first entered one of the FL Comps and won! That's the start of his fame.
I also saw Kissing Sellout using FL + Live. Saw it when it happened. LIVE on the stream that was. Still he's got mad skills!

I'm just going to say I was about 16 or 17 and purchased FL studio XXL, and currently as a 19 year old, I prefer ableton more. FL studio is super easy to use, which is why it is seen as a beginner program. The VSTs are amazing compared to Ableton, but you can purchase and download better VSTs. I find it much easier to see what you are doing in Ableton. I also have switched over to mac and ableton is the obvious choice, but even if i was running PC id still be on ableton. The learning curve is just longer haha.

Kissysellout uses both Ableton Live and Fruity Loops. He shows it in that video:

How does he use both in conjunction? I like the workflow.

I use FL as my main DAW but I also use Ableton aswell. Might want to check this video out, just shows, that you can use bother and they work just aswell.
I don't like using Audio in FL, I believe that side of things sucks. Midi side, is far better than Live if I do say.
"Sound Quality" of both are just the same in my opinion.

Something i've done a while back!

I believe I've found the balance XD I've been using FL to make the samples and everything, then rewire it to Ableton for Ableton's effect(I like how they do their effects, It's simpler) To master and assemble the track. I find that it's easier to master my tracks and such in Ableton than FL, but that's just me , Still confused on a few things in Ableton but thats me XD

fl studios learning curve is a lot easier, ableton is complicated for begginers and isnt very straight forward at all. I believe ableton is good for full on music production if you have patience and time and fl studio is good for simple/minimalist dance music (or if willing deep complicated songs) I personally find fl easier to use but I know soo many people swear by ableton so will never disregard it. I like to make my samples using Fl though
