Hi Everyone,

I saw this recently on facebook and I just had to share this AMAZING deal with everyone here!!

"There’s no escape from the bass invasion. Native Instruments are proud to have helped shape bass music and dubstep with a trio of formidable synths: MASSIVE, RAZOR and FM8. Now you can pick up any of these interstellar instruments – renowned for devastating subs and laser-like leads – for half price, or get all three for only $199 / 179 €. This offer ends June 24th. Resistance is futile!"

For me, Session Strings Pro, Alicia's Keys and the Mouth would have been the most interesting pieces in the Komplete Ultimate Bundle but I believe Kontakt will come with some decent strings as well and the Mouth, well I will have to live without it or buy it solo. Instead of Alicia's Keys I might buy the Giant soon since it is exactly what I've always been looking for...

Passing on Razor is no problem for me. The Komplete 8 synths are high end and I never really liked the sound of Razor.
Re Alicia's Keys - The Yamaha C3 Neo, in that room, just sounds horribly bright to me. There are some other, killer piano sounds out there (and real pianos).

The Evolve products sound fantastic as well, but I'm quite happy with the impact sounds I already own and use for my songs so I believe I won't miss anything at the moment.

So if you believe you might miss some of the packages if not going with Ultimate then you should probably take the chance and get Ultimate. For the price, the value is unbeatable. I personally believe I will take the money and buy some other gear. There's some pricey stuff on my wishlist

Did you buy the Komplete 8 or Ultimate?

Wondering if I will use a few of the other pieces like 130 gb more of samples, RAZOR, EVOLVE MUTATIONS, EVOLVE MUTATIONS 2,
SESSION STRINGS PRO, SOLID BUS COMP, SOLID DYNAMICS, SOLID EQ, THE MOUTH, MACHINE DRUM SELECTION.

Wondering if I should just spend the $400 for everything and have the option to anything I want with it.

Any thoughts?

I've pushed the button! My Komplete 8 crossgrade is on the way. For the price definitely a must-have ITraditionally a new version of Komplete is released at the end of August but for me that doesn't matter. It's a killer deal as it is now.

Wondering if I should pull the trigger on the Komplete Ultimate cross grade for my maschine. With all the packs you would definitely have any and every sound you could ever dream possible. Anyone have experience with their cross grades?

wine seems pretty simple to use these days - but not sure about using it with vst's. if bitwig is at least as good as ableton and the price is right i'll go for that instead of upgrading to live8. atm my linux laptop isn't as powerful as my mac anyway so i'd be using the mac still for production. having the option to use linux tho would be great... massive doesn't seem too cpu hungry, just had 5 instances running in live5 and my macbook is sitting at about 86% idle. not bad... that free minimoog V is quite fun too

I tried Wine once... I just don't have the time for emulation. Wish I did, as I like dicking around w/ software, but I gotta be productive too.

When I saw the sale I thought about it, but really can't believe of anything they can do that the Virus TI can't. But if you have input on this by all means express it.

Got it -- finally.

Non-portable means not portable between architectures which isn't entirely true. Honestly I don't know how VSTs are compiled, but it is logical that the same source code could be compiled for any compliant architecture (likely in C). However, usually they are not, and the fact that I've seen some Windows-only VSTs, I'm going to guess that some of Microsofts' development packages have some type of classes that would prevent them from easily become MAC compatible. Someone that has VB/VC++ experience can say.

PRE-EDIT: I actually Googled around, and yes, you can even write them in C#.

I'm assuming all of this, but programming is programming in general, and for the most part unless something is Java, Qt, or C, it takes some work to make it work on any system. Even with those there are gotchas.

i ordered just a couple of mins before making that post, so close to "06-23-2012, 05:12 PM". bitwig will support 32/64bit vst's i thought? how u mean re: "non-portable"?
Nestor Witkowsky
25.06.2012
When did you order?

>> Bitwig

That looks cool indeed, but I see a huge caveat of VST's being non-portable. Kind of a deal breaker.

same here. for the savings i made i can afford to wait a few days... pretty sure that i'll have plenty of uses for massive and razor just looks interesting and is worth it just for the cool 3d display main thing that concerns me about razor is the cpu usage, but the sounds do seem very cool.

could well be they're going to replace with newer versions sometime, but i'm still using live5 and pretty happy with it. maybe my decision there to hold out and see what bitwig is like was worth it instead of upgrading to live8. if it's half as good as we hope and runs on linux.... with mixxx becoming far more usable (i use mixxx 1.11 instead of traktor these days) and bitwig for linux i'll be very happy...

Also…has anyone noticed that sales only come up when stuff is about to be discontinued or replaced with a newer version?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. iOS stuff seems to be luck of the draw. I got Animoog on Bob Moog's Bday for $10. I know it's not as good as the $3 it was offered for for it's first 10 months, but it's worth it to me. Awesome synth, and it's what has gotten me looking into the so-called "different" synths.

That's why you don't buy sales. Except for when my email address was screwed up (some weird forwarding issues tripping some of gmail's security system) the longest it's taken me to get a serial was like 5 minutes.

just picked up massive+razor anyway. both sound good from what i've listened to for what i really need. i still miss having an arsenal of physical synths but these take up way less space wasn't sure about fm8, maybe made a mistake not grabbing that for an extra 60, but wasn't as impressed with it.

FM8 and Massive have demos available. Razor doesn't AFAIK.

I don't personally like them very much, but I absolutely understand why some people do.

There would be enough stuff for Komplete 9. Didn't we have a new version every year now during the last years?
Hoping for a nice deal on Komplete 8 in fall 2012 before they (probably/hopefully/maybe) announce Komplete 9

what do people believe of massive+fm8+razor? seems to be a pretty low price for such a lot of synths... pretty sure i'll grab a copy of massive but on the fence regarding spending another 100 and getting the other two. any thoughts? i.e: could my 200usd be better spent elsewhere? i've only played about with free vst's so far - and like the idea of getting some decent soft synths.
Nestor Witkowsky
20.06.2012
From the tutorials/intros I've looked at for the 3 items above, if you're using them in a DAW, you just load them as a VST in your DAW.

Razor looks to be the most fun. Of course I have little time to mess w/ anything, but I've found that Animoog got me back into the "tinkering" mode, as it's not a traditional synth. Much more visual, and in my experience rewarding. I can mess w/ it when I'm taking a dump, too!

I just can't. I want to play with Reaktor, but…I just can't deal with NI's "players". In Maschine it's relatively straightforward and transparent (if you're using or starting from a preset that's saved as a Maschine sound, at least) but it's just so fucking pointless. It wastes resources and kludges up workflows.

If they dropped Reaktor and Guitar Rig for synth and effects hosting, I'd have a little respect left. Kontact makes sense because it's basically a sampler with a bunch of libraries, right? But Reaktor and GR are just stupid unless you're actually using them to build your own shit or for amp modelling.

There's way too much awesome stuff out there to bother with a company that makes it hard to use their products.

When are MPC-R and MPC-S due?

How are these tools? Are they that much better than the other synths out there? More importantly, Analog & Operator?

>> Reaktor <-> Razor thingy
That sucks. That's kind of a deal breaker.

EDIT: Fixed as of 5.6.2?

Think I'm going to get these. Now to just use a proxy so NI doesn't make me pay 10% higher b/c I live in freakin' Japan.

Foot in the door phenomenon. Also known as one of the easiest ways to manipulate people into doing things they don't want to do but are vaguely related to something they'd consider.

I know a lot of companies do it…just about everybody does. But that doesn't make it okay.

I believe every day I want to ditch NI completely just a little bit more.
