Apple Logic 9 Vs. Ableton Live 8
Apple Logic 9 Vs. Ableton Live 8 Posted on: 14.10.2012 by Clare Arnhold Hey Dj tech tools community
!Last year I convinced my buddy to start DJing with me. Being fourteen and unemployed we pooled our money and bought an S4 as well as a Midi-Fighter Pro and as well a few other toys. We have had a lot of fun mixing music and different samples together over the past year and stuff like that, but we decided its time we step it up, and look into production. I must admit, writing this, I know very little about either of the two softwares, but i have had minimal use of both. Obviously Ableton is much more supported than logic i.e. Mad Zach's sound and it generally being more popular. Although, as I said, none of us are sitting on phat stax, and to come up with $550 is certainly pushing it. And Logic 9 seems like a good alternative for much less money, but i have not heard anything about it. Considering it is made by one of the most meticulous companies in the world, I'm sure it isn't too disappoint. I am just looking for a detailed opinion that can can help my friend and I make the right decision, I am interested in what what you all have to believe. Thank You Marty | |

Celine Surico 29.10.2012 | You will spend a lot of money on Ableton and its upgrades. The upgrade pricing has been horrible. You get Logic for $190 at the Mac App store and has plenty of instruments and plug-ins to do any kind of contemporary electronic dance music. As for the DJ aspect with Ableton Live, it's doable but not as enjoyable as using Traktor. That leaves the clip view performance as the only interesting aspect and there are not that many artists that play with such sets. |
Terica Radue 29.10.2012 | One thing you can do is buy a soundcard that comes with ableton live lite (focusrite scarlett series). It is limited but theres definently enough there to keep you busy for a while until you refine your skills and decide where you really want to go with your music. The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 starts at around $150 I believe. I own a Focusrite 8i6 and the latency is not too bad on it and it gives me plenty of outputs for 2 deck DJing, |
Monserrate Rupnow 14.10.2012 | If you can run logic then you have a Mac, why not start out with garageband which you should already have? |
Linda Chavda 14.10.2012 | Blah, ableton cause I use it. I wish I could afford an s4 and a midi fighter pro haha |
Nancey Inderlied 14.10.2012 | Logic 9 is more geared towards recording and pure production, and realistically doesnt have much going for it in terms of performance. If you were looking for track recording dump and workflow for your band, Logic absolutely wins, but in terms of pure digital production and performance, Ableton is a bit more oriented towards that. Logic is by no means bad, but it's more at home sucking up and processing multitrack recordings off a desk, rather than running the absurd amounts of plugins, sequences, and racks that software production usually involves. |
