A big 'public' thank you to Ean! Posted on: 18.12.2008 by Karl Forde Hello DJTT Community,At the risk of sounding like a sycophant, I thought I'd start a thread to allow myself and other DJTechTools users to say thanks to Ean and his team. You have literally transformed DJing for me. I've been mixing now for about 17 years - turntables mostly - and (stupidly) thought that I'd learned and experienced all there was to know about DJing. I'm not saying I thought I was the greatest - far from it - but I'd pretty much understood everything I could do and knew all the limitations. DJing became predictable and boring at times. The VCI-100 SE has literally blasted open the doors of my perception and I'm enjoying DJing on a whole new level. Yesterday I played with Traktor Pro with Ean's new 1.3.2 TSI and smacked the club up. I was so excitied by using the effects and tactile controlling that I had an amazing time and so did the punters. The club I played at uses promoters from London's biggest club promotions company. That company's MD happened to be passing by the club last evening and seemed so impressed with what I was doing, he asked me to call him today to discuss 'things'. Potentially, that means a lot more (and hopefully better paid) work. I'm certain this would never have happened if I was on turntables or using Traktor without the whole SE mods. So again, thank you Ean, your team and the entire DJTT community. Your hard work and altruistic nature is enriching the lives of many DJ's (even washed up, jaded feckers like myself ) This is something great to be a part of. I must also admit that, at first i was a huge Vinyl snob. Thinking that manual beat-matching was the only way to go. to make a long story short I ditched turntables, adopted MIDI via the VCI 100, and never looked back. I had initially purchased the firmware kit a while back and after trying a lot of different combinations, realized it was faulty. Ean kindly had sent me another one and now I can't believe what kind of a powerful beast I now own compared to the one I initially bought (VCI-100).. Vestax directors or anybody from that moron-village company, hear me out: If you have a single cell of a brain left in you, sack the lot of your product design team and try to get Ean into Vestax because after your initial appalling and embarrasing failure of a launch of this product, he is the man who put the life and soul right back into the machine as far as the 'thanks-to-him-firmware-upgrade' is concerned. Ean, once again, thank you for the second kit, I have finally upgraded to 1.3 and cheers for not charging for it also. You are the man. Baran. |

Not long ago I've been an average DJ playing with turntables for decades now, but when I found out about Ean Golden and Controllerism last summer everything changed. I'm still playing all my clubsets with a DVS (started with FS in 2003, tried SSL, TS, but found out Torq is best for my workflow), but I'm very interested in controllerism and impressed by all the good work of Ean Golden and some of his crazy ideas and routines. Thank you Ean!!! |

Just being a part of the community has inspired me to take my build projects to an even higher level. I've been modding devices to fit my needs for a while, and while that's fun, you and the community have inspired me to build my own from scratch. I'm computer DJ since 2001 and times are changing... now with traktorpro+vci-100, i'm pretty comfortable with what I do. I waited for this to happen all the time... for some way of hardware control over traktor. It's here and with your invention - even more than I've ever expected. Thaks for that!!! | remy deroche 25.12.2008 | i'm not too big on the thank u's normally but this is a little different. if it wasn't for ean i don't believe i would have the same scope or feelings towards controllerism as i do now. after the laptop wars scene i pretty much dropped it all and went full serato, but now with this community and ean, well things have changed. even if i play with turntables i travel with at least 2 controllers...its ingrained in me now. mc'lovin it. so to everyone here and of course ean........ happy holidays and wishin' you all a good new year!!! |

You promoted that VCI100 like you've been paid to do so...if vestax is not paying you per unit sold maybe we all should write one Christmas note to them and explain that they should. I'm not implying that ean golden has stolen my clothes but I am about to fly to Belfast and Dublin to play biggest gigs of my life and this is all thanks to Ean and his SE When I discovered this site and digital djing it was like the first time you hear a new song or band and believe "fuck if I had a band that is exactly what I'd want to sound like". Ean has basically served to me on a plate everything I needed to get my ideas out of my head and on the dancefloor and through this site my knowledge has grown and I have been able to pass it on to others things I have learnt. So thanks Ean. On a serious note why don't we all club together and help ean release that banging number (around32") from his physical mix ?? If he is willing of course ! Or at least a big ass bottle of Irish whiskey |
