Any update on 1.4 fw release?
Posted on: 28.01.2009 by DjMAX MONTANA
Hi Ean,
is there any news on the 1.4 f/w release? either features to look for and/or a ROUGH release date?

Thanks.

Yeah, I've found that the increments are ~0.125, but the display only has one decimal of precision, which is absolutely ridiculous. I basically get it as close as I can, then start nudging (but I'm using the mouse, as I've not remapped anything). It's liveable, but not desirable.

I've looked around a bit (even asked on NI's community s) but I'm finished with my work day and have nothing better to do.. sort of.

I agree, id like to know what their motives behind this is.

with the upcoming TP 1.2 release it seems like it would be kind of cool to be able to turn the vci into 2 virtual controllers to be able to leverage the device target feature. maybe something to believe about for a new firmware?

So basically, those of us on windows, who have the LED / midi out freeze issue are stuffed unless traktor's next update finds a work around ?

I'm bummed. Nice controller, but it has these little glitches. I was hoping 1.4 would solve them....

I'm hoping some kind soul will address it (for worldwide fame/notoriety)

Yeah- I also believe 14bit is the sticky point. Ean is going to try and get one that fixes the other remaining problems without 14 bit.

I was really looking forward to 1.4 firmware and this is a sad day indeed for the VCI-100. I for one was looking forward to 14-bit midi especially with the jog wheels (as I was hoping not to have to purchase a VCI-300 for this aspect). Hopefully someone with programming skills will save the day.

maybe the amazing team or person behind JJOS can help with a firmware update.

Donation schemes yeild next to nothing - so a donation pool would hardly be attractive to anyone

Ouch. It never made a lot of sense to me that Vestax would be willing to support 14-bit midi on the vci-100, seeing as how they would be creating a product that would compete directly with their own more expensive vci-300. I guess I was just dreaming the spirit of experimentation would drive this idea into reality.

Ean- Any thoughts on a 1.4 firmware that would be all the good ideas sans 14-bit support? (I would love to get those filter knobs under control)

Noooooooo!!..... Major disappointment! Is there not some hero that will reveal himself now to do the deed of reverse engineering??? Ean, what about some kind of donation scheme to create an incentive for an inventive soul to come on board to do the programming work??

bummer .. i guess they are also not interested in open sourcing their firmware? if they want to talk to someone experienced in open source and leveraging open source communities for the benefit of a commercial enterprise, feel free to direct them towards me. i wrote my thesis at the university on exactly this topic and i am currently managing the upcoming 5.3 version of PHP.

I kind of figured that. I believe the 100 will soon be replaced by the VCI-400.

14.06.2009
Hey Folks, I have the official word on the fabled 1.4 firmware release. I don't believe its going to end up happening after all unless someone comes up with a way to reverse engineer the firmware and create one ourselves.

it looks like Vestax is unlikely to support 14bit midi on the vci-100 in the near future.

Does the translator support hi resolution midi yet?

I do not believe there should be any big rush for 1.4, 14 bit bit midi in Traktor is nothing like it is in Itch. I have a VCI-300 and the pitch seems no better than with midi.trans

Hey Bentosan,

with the poor implementation of the 14bit u mentioned before, do u believe the pitch faders of the VCI 100 will have a better resolution than they currently do?
(fingers crossed for 0.02%)

Any way to change the VCI 100 pitch sliders to one's without an indent?

Why?
I use double functions!!!

Example: filter knob, turn left to select fx chained mode and control dry/wet chained, turn right to select fx advanced mode and control dry/wet advanced...

Is it possible to have 2 versions? One with double functions and one without...??? PLEASE...
