Anyone in UK got VCI-100 SE?
Posted on: 04.06.2009 by Belen Graziose
Hello!

Very interested in getting a VCI-100 SE but not sure exactly how much I will have to pay in total, can anyone in the UK who has bought one previously let me know how much it cost for delivery, and was there also tax to pay?

Thanks

After reading alot of community s about why the Belgium customs do this locking of packages it's about getting those taxes.
The most important thing for me to get my package was to send the reciept so they probably can calculate how much then can charge.
I also read on some community s that when the Belgium customs get "gifts" send it they lock them very fast because too many people abuse this kind of sending.
I believe the best thing to do is send it with the reciept on the outside of the box in plastic (maybe even a reduced fake reciept is good) but the customs here really want to see that reciept if it comes from USPS. Other delivery services have less trouble with this if i can believe some community s.

If i get a taxbill i'll let it know how much, but i expect about 25% of the total price (witch i love to pay, i just want my vci-100 SE! )
I took the possible taxes into account when ordering the vci, this way i'm not surpriced when i get a reciept

After they could confirm that they got that email they will now send my vci within 3 days, else they would have just sended it back to the US.

Judging by the attachment, you'll just have to pay the 2% Duty...

I found this website that calculates Import Duty and VAT, so it should be able to give us a indication as to what the worst case scenario would be.

With the current fx rates the unit plus shipping is around

The VCI was send may 27th and was recieved at the customs of Belgium june 2, anybody know if it is normal that a device is stuck at the customs alone for over a week?

Hope it will come through... pretty hard looking here at the overlay i allready recieved but not having the divice

yeah- you just have to tell the customs folks that its a non audio device and then your not charged anything in europe and apparently some in England. We also declare the item as a USB control device when we send it via USPS as well which should reduce any taxes. Worse case scenario we can also try other means of lowering taxes as well

Hey weltraumpapst,
I ordered mine here and could convince the customs dudes ("Zoll") to charge only the 19% VAT, but both on the item itself *and* the shipping cost. You just gotta make sure that they believe you that it doesn't have a sound card, else it'd be a different customs number.. and more expensive. Btw..the VCI is way to pricey to work as a "gift".

weltraumpapst: yep got it from here, don't know if i'll recieve the tax reciept together with the vci itself, but ones i know i'll post it here
i hope i'm lucky and that the customs will let my vci go through without taxes
who knows, maybe i'm a very lucky bastard

was believeing about the same thing a week ago. i heard if shipping from the us to europe (germany in my case), they don't tax it, if there's writen something like "gift" on the package. is that true or just a missunderstanding?
Cristine Stele
03.06.2009
If you go through the order process but dont confirm it gives you the shipping prices. Taxes and VAT are about 30% altogether I believe, not certain though.
