Help: Traktor's Mapping frustrates me.
Help: Traktor's Mapping frustrates me. Posted on: 26.06.2011 by Veda Zarella Hi all,I just got the LPD8 form Akai and want it to control my effects in Traktor Pro 2. By just plugging in the lpd8, and by launching Traktor (without touching any of the mapping settings), the blue light next to "Control" in Traktor goes on whenever I hit a pad or turn a knob of my lpd8. This means it receives some sort of signal form the LPD8. However: 1- I have imported different presets into the akai controller manager software and their corresponding TSIs into Traktor, and it just won't work. 2- So I tried doing the mapping manually, but the Learn button doesn't work ! I bought the controller today and was very excited to use it next to my numark mixdeck, but now it just frustrates me and spoils my mood. Please DJTT community members, help me out ... dsmit | |

And what does the "Add Out" do ?? I will try to make a mapping myself, which will be difficult with the Learn button not working ..
the 'learn' function needs to work tho... if data is coming in (which seems to be as you say you see the activity light flicker on traktor) and it is set to route to the mapping your are editting then 'learn' should just work - and if not then something else is wrong. no chance you got the lp8 in+out back to front when choosing the ports in traktor? worst case scenario download something like midi-ox and just check what is coming out of the lpd8. |

Shaunta Jobs 29.06.2011 | D.S.M.I.T. How do you have your audio out routed? I was trying to set up my Total Control to control decks C/D while my Mixdeck controls deck A/B and I coldn't get any sound out of C/D. |
Charline Dye 27.06.2011 | No problem glad to help. |
Veda Zarella 27.06.2011 | Found it ! My enire mixer section is hidden because I don't use it, but I put it back and saw the FX 1/2 buttons, it works now. Thaks for your help guys, it's much appreciated ! |
Veda Zarella 27.06.2011 | Turning on the FX in the FX Unit would be equivalent to seeing the orange "On" light underneath every single effect ? If so, check. It might be something very easy and stupid, but I still don't see it |

Charline Dye 27.06.2011 | I'm sorry. I should have been more specific..... Is the Fx unit on, in the mixer section of traktor? |
Veda Zarella 27.06.2011 | Hi The mixer isnt midi compatible, only the decks are. So the effects are directly controlled with the lpd8. Dry wet is on, volume up, .. I'm sure it has something to do with traktor's settings but i can't figure out what it is. Thanks for the effort. |
Charline Dye 27.06.2011 | Is the fx unit on in the mixer? Is the dry wet up? Ez stuff I know, but going with the obvious first. |
Veda Zarella 26.06.2011 | I wanted to play around with the effects and check if everything worked, but I noticed that none of effects affect the music, as if they were all switched off. The controls work perfectly though, and I can see on Traktor the parametres changing and the orange "On" button. I tried setting the effects routing to Insert/Send which didn't change anything. |
Veda Zarella 26.06.2011 | Hi again guys, i'm back with good news. I rebooted again, tried another port, deleted all the imported controller TSIs, and started from scratch. The Learn button worked very nicely, and so I just finished my effects mapping. Strange though that Traktor didn't recognise the lpd8 at first. Thanks for your input guys! |

And what does the "Add Out" do ?? I will try to make a mapping myself, which will be difficult with the Learn button not working ..

Veda Zarella 26.06.2011 | I've tried all of that with no result. I have no idea why it wouldn't work. On another note, is there a thread in which all of the different mapping terms are explained? What i refer to is the list of items when you click "Add In". And what does the "Add Out" do ?? I will try to make a mapping myself, which will be difficult with the Learn button not working .. Thanks for your help guys, keep it coming. |
Charline Dye 26.06.2011 | Looks like you have the ports selected properly. Is the LPD8 plugged into the laptop, or a hub? Unplug it then reboot. Plug back in and reselect the in/out ports. Try a different USB cable. Let us know how it goes. |
Veda Zarella 26.06.2011 | I don't know, you tell me. *edit*: also, the FX Unit Routing of channel 1 & 2 are both set to send. I don't know if this has anythign to with it. |
Tatum Ansaldo 26.06.2011 | have you set the in/out ports correctly? |
