VCI-100 for Traktor Pro (user modified SE)
VCI-100 for Traktor Pro (user modified SE) Posted on: 18.11.2008 by Makkins Clifton Changelog:v3: - improved browser-mode: You can now load the selected track by moving the outer jog-wheel backwords to load it into deck A or forward to load it into deck B this will also quit the browser-mode (thanks to Bento for the suggestion) v2: - new browser-mode: lets you browse through your filelist with the jog wheel, while it is active - updated transport-section: it basically works like the official settings from Vestax for the VCI-100 - floating cue-point : whenever you move the jog-wheel a temporary cue-point is set (like in Traktor 3) - loops will reset to a length of 4 beats after you turn them off (thanks to ean) - Loop & Key are swapped A lot of features are planned, but I'm currently short on time due to exams in the coming weeks. To see which, check out the attached image. Please comment them and drop ideas in this thread. This is based on the official DjTechTools-VCI-file from the other thread. I used burndownthediscos VCI for the FX unit toggle. It also fixes the bug where deck A is stopped while using the jog-wheel in Fader-FX-mode. Personally I find the whole fx-stuff too complicated in Ean's layout. Therefore I tossed the 1st effect (only 2 per FX bank are useable but because of the FX unit toogle 4 effects can be used per deck which should be enough). And mapped it so you can browse through all the shiny new effects, instead of being forced to use only a few ones. Effects turn automatically on when the knob is turned to the right side and in most cases their LED lights up (some don't work because of firmware issues). I made this with FW 1.2. | |
Makkins Clifton 26.11.2008 | I was almost done with the new version and then forgot to export the .tsi file before importing another one = bye bye changes... To at least get something useable out I changed some stuff of the last backup. It just has SOME of the new features and the not-so-ean-like transport-section because it was the only backup I had. The only fix I implemented so far is defaulting the loop-length, but I will have a look into it as soon as possible. There is a new one coming with the more-ean-like transport section but I changed some more stuff about it, like using a floating cue-point and having a button to store cue-points (which is handy for preparing sets or setting up cuepoints for some live cue-juggling action). I need to know what you like and what not! I will another time fully change the FX-section to make it a-lot easier as I saw my solutions gave me some headache on a gig last weekend. Here are the changes: v3: - improved browser-mode: You can now load the selected track by moving the outer jog-wheel backwards to load it into deck A or forward to load it into deck B this will also quit the browser-mode (thanks Bento ) v2: - new browser-mode: lets you browse through your filelist with the jog wheel, while it is active - updated transport-section: it basically works like the official settings from Vestax for the VCI-100 - floating cue-point : whenever you move the jog-wheel a temporary cue-point is set (like in Traktor 3) - loops will reset to a length of 4 beats after you turn them off (thanks to ean) - Loop & Key are swapped ToDo-List: - easier FX-change (knob) & activation - all 3 Effects in chain useable - switch to Deck C,D with 1 button - complete browser-mode - improve pitch-fader to make fine- pitching + normal pitching possible - restore Ean |

Annette Verzal 02.09.2011 | Hi Ean, I only recently got my VCI 100 fw 1.2 and am seriously believeing of upgrading it to the 1.4 though it comes out really expensive to get it to Portugal. Is there anyone in Europe that sells them for you or do you know anyone on this side of the pond i could get it from? I really like the last tsi you made but i believe the browser mode would be much better if it was like Lupine said on this Thread: "Ok, a couple more ideas for browser mode. I was just reading Phaidon's post about his 4 deck tsi and he's using the right jogwheel to control the track list and the left one to control the tree, which seems like a good idea. I was also believeing that it might be worth setting it up so that the hitting space bar would bring you directly to the search bar so that you don't have to mouse over to it. And finally maybe tapping the jogwheel could bring you into preview mode. You could then use the jogwheel to search through the track using the jogwheel. Tapping the jogwheel again would bring you back out of preview mode to the list of tracks." I have been trying to add this to your 3.6.4 tsi but finding it hard as all the modifiers are already being used. On my BCD 2000 i had the left jog scrolling thru tracks and the right scrolling thru preview and used one button to load it to preview and stop. I guess the button could be tapping the jog on the vci. Is this possible? |
Rochell Ulvestad 24.12.2008 | I believe I found something. Loading tracks with the side of the jogwheel only works when key is off. Is this intentional? Also I can't seem to turn on/off the effect for fx1 when the value reaches 0 or past 0 like you have it for the other 2 buttons for fx |
Brigid Lagerman 08.12.2008 | I notice a couple of things:
Btw, I am running the Vestex VCI-100. DJ Ataru |
Pedro Gooding 08.12.2008 | I believe that could be interesting that with the outer left jogweel u browse the folders list, with the right one u browse the song list, and when touching left Metal jogweel->load A, when touching the right Metal jogweel->load B |
Makkins Clifton 07.12.2008 | Personally I block loading tracks in a playing deck. Therefore the load track thing with outer jog works fine, but it feels a little strange. I already have an idea to improve the fx-changing and activating and will try to release an updated layout by next week. Have to look into the Beatjump-thing though. |
casey rascal 07.12.2008 | I have been testing it, and find the jog-scroll throuh track collection very usefull. I am not shure about the load track function, it might be to risky. I find the fx scroll very usefull, and love the ability to change out wich effects are selceted, on the fly! And like earlier said, I miss the be beatjump function. Thats just my 2 cents. |
07.12.2008 | who has tested this TSI and found aspects of it that they enjoy? I am working on a new SE TSI and perhaps I can integrate some of the concepts. The FX selection seems to be natural- did anyone prefer this method? |
Sasha Alexander 04.12.2008 | Hey Hedgehog, slightly offtopic, but where did you get the picture of the SE layout? I searched the whole site and couldn't find it. Could you please point me to it or post a file without your edits? Need it to plan my own custom layout. Thanks |
Ryan Deegan 01.12.2008 | I'm really new to all this, so you can take this with a grain of salt. At the moment I'm trying to find a good tsi - the one that come with Tractor pro doesn't seem to be worth a damn-, learn to DJ, and learn Tractor Pro all at the same time. Anyhow. I was playing around with your tsi toevening and I noticed a couple things: 1. When deck A is in CD mode using the jogwheel in browser mode still activates the CD seek function for deck A. 2. Play/Pause seems to drop a cue point where ever you pause the track. Maybe this is the floating cue point feature that you were talking about though? 3. I love navigating my library with the jogwheel, but I'm not sure about using the forwards and backwards motions to load a track. Seems like it might be pretty easy to accidentally load a track into a deck that's playing as you browse your library. Also how do you load a track into decks C or D? I'm having enough trouble operating decks A and B for now, so its not really a concern for me at the moment but... I was believeing that it might work well if it could be set up so that in when your in browser mode the transport controls under the jogwheel load the highlighted track into decks A, B, C, and D. The leftmost button would load deck A and the rightmost would load deck D. The buttons are still close at hand and it seems like it would avoid the accidental load problem. 4. Ok, a couple more ideas for browser mode. Tapping the jogwheel again would bring you back out of preview mode to the list of tracks. 5. Ok last thing, did you totally remove the sync button, or maybe I'm just just missing it? I hope some of these suggestions are helpful and thanks for all you work on this so far. ps Good luck with your exams! |
casey rascal 27.11.2008 | This tsi sounds real promissing I must say. Looking very much forward to this! Suggestion: Now that going thru track collection and loading tracks into the decks is possible via the jog whell, maybe the old tracklist/trackload buttons could be used for beatjumping? And what are your thoughts on the deck copy function? |

casey rascal 24.11.2008 | Hi Sounds like a godd idea with the effect scrollin option and the track collection scrolling with Jogwheel is a super idea! I would deffinetly prefer to keep the transport section the way ean designed it. Are you planning on implementing the bug fixes from the new official 1.2SE.tsi? |

Makkins Clifton 23.11.2008 | Just got up! Checking what went wrong later that day. Problem is that I now totally modified the layout. So it's going to be another one. With browser toggle mode which lets you browse through your collection with the jog wheel. I will make a 4-decks-with-one-button switch version next week, because I noticed yesterday at a dj-contest it's not very handy to control deck c with deck b There is just one thing I need to know. I changed the 4 transport buttons below the jog-wheels to their original layout for the dj-contest because i'm used to that. So the order goes: Play/Pause - Cue/Play - Cue/Pause - Set Hotcue Do you rather want that order or the ean one? I also use a floating cue-point like in Traktor 3. |

Jasmin Suzan Barthel 19.11.2008 | Hi HedgeHog, Looks a great tsi file would like to give it a whirl. For some reason though it's refusing to import the midi mapping I use vci-100 black 1.2 |
