My ldp8 Mappings for Traktor pro 2 (with working leds)
Posted on: 09.11.2011 by Simona Schar

Here are my personnal mappings, on going, with their last version in tsi files.
The pads are mapped with cc9-16 following their number on the device : pad 1 cc9; pad 2 cc10, and so on...

Edit : I forgot the essential parto the following attached files : the ldp8 preset you have to load :

First Mapping : All in-one-mapping : 2 Decks(loop control + 4hotcues), 2 samples decks, 2 fx units
Second Mapping : Additionnal controler : C/D control C & D decks either in Decks mode or sample decks mode + 2fx basic control...
Third Mapping : LPD8 "all in one" Controlerist tools : Browsing + 2decks + loop control + Midi Fighter Instant Gratification FX
PROOF OF CONCEPT : I play a bit with this mapping on one track, just to see if it works :

Hey no worries. To be honest I was just looking for a quick and easy fix as the Lpd8 is new to me. I actually spent a few hours yesterday mapping it for myself and now have obvious play pause, load to deck C and D and 4 bar loop on and off etc

You actually helped with this as I was able to see the way the making works from your .TSI files.

This is why these community 's are great. Sharing information like this is essential to it.

Just now have to map the LED feedback. Maybe in a few day's

Well in fact, I did a simple copycat of flashflood's instant grat+deckalized focus mapping : It means I reassign all the buttons of a midifighter on program 2. So this fx behaviour was already mapped this way on the midifighter (I tested it on mine... It works.). I also notice this mapping behaviour, but what was for me a kind of bug reveals as an interesting feature : you can have different value if you press the effect you can hold in different order, and have this way different flavour of the same effect.

I tought about it, but as I said before, it was a simple copy with reassignation. I believe about it later. You can also map the out yourself by mapping a master out led, conditionning by the modifier that enables the sampler mode.
I didn't do it because there was too much output of this kind and it make the ldp8 crash (in fact the usb bus, but it's kind of the same...). Maybe I'll solve this problem by modifying the leds output in the future... But for now on I work on my VMS4 mapping (a big bad huge monster mapping : I'm at the beginning, and it's already twice bigger as this one :$)... So maybe later.

I didn't even tought about it cause I always play with my filter turned on... That'll be the first thing I'll do when I'll work again on it...

You have to press the sampler on, then playing with your favorite effects who will be recorded.

Instant grat+deckalized is a merging of both mappings, using both of them and doesn't use all of both functonnalities.

like I told you I have S4, so all i need is instant gratification mapping for my LPD8.
your mapping is all in one solution but I need just 2nd page (2nd program)

if you have time & good will to isolate just that part of the mapping as a standalone, that will be great! (and in that case I could much easier fix potential problems myself)

in your current mapping knobs works fine (EQ & filter) but I don' need that
pads are problem. on 2nd program everything is messed up. instead of instant gratification I have loop, sync, play, cue... or very strange FX behaviour... only thing that works fine is 4 pads for beatmasher fx (i believe in pad mode) but i can' remember for sure.

Here's the final mapping I'll make for my ldp8.
Sadly, I have not mapped so much Led I wanted with it causes my traktor freezes or having sound glitches. So if you have a better setup than mine I can explain you how I make the leds work so you can add more led output.

The main features of this mapping are*:
-2 decks
- 2 samples decks
- loop recorder control
- instant gratification+deckalized mapping

Knobs : They are the same for the four bank (easier to control in da mix)
K1-K4*: Filter + Three band Equalizer Deck*A
K5-K8*: Filter + Three band Equalizer Deck*B

Program 1 : Play Mode + Transport mode
Pad Mode*:
Pad 5*: Load+Loop+Play Deck A + Select mixer layout
Pad 1*: Load+Loop+Play Deck B + Select mixer layout
Pad 6*: next track + select browser layout
Pad 7*: previous track + select browser layout
Pad 2*: page up + select browser layout
Pad 3*: page down+ select browser layout
Pad 8*: switch layout
Pad 4*: Add as next to preparation list (as I plan to use this tiny beast for casual mixing in friend's flat or for preparing playlist)

CC Mode*:
Pad 5*: Play/pause deck A
Pad 1*: Play/pause deck B
Pad 6*: Loop Set Deck A
Pad 2*: Loop Set Deck B
Pad 7/8*: Decrease/Increase Loop Size Deck A
Pad*3/4*: Decrease/Increase Loop Size Deck B

Program 2*: Flashflood deckalized+instant gratification focused mapping.
In my (very own) opinion, this is the best midifighter mapping to be port on a non-four banked button machine.

Pad mode*:
the two top rows of a midifighter
CC mode*:
the two bottom rows of a midifighter

I won't explain again the way the deckalized+instant gartification mapping works because I assume a lot of people knows it. Nevertheless, you can check the way it works there.
Moreover, you can use the shifted function of the two bottom rows by pressing shift button (and holding it), then CC mode button (and not releasing pad 5), and finaly the button you want to shift (and still not releasing pad 5).
Sadly you can't use the 8 loop button (mapped on pad 5 in CC mode), but the sadest is that the fx secret combos don't work (they use the secret midi note). But you have some killer features(sampler mode, instant fx, crazy beatmasher), usable on the four decks in a focus mode.

Program 3*: Loop Recorder+modifiers+sample decks
Pad mode*: Loop Recorder+Modifier
Pad 5/1*: Dry/wet (M1 activated : knob turns faster)
Pad 6*: Loop size
Pad 2*: Record loop
Pad 3*: Loop play/pause
Pad 7*: Delete loop
Pad 4*: Modifier 1
Pad 8*: Modifier 2

CC Mode*: Sample Decks
Top pads are deck C sample deck
Bottom pads are deck D sample deck
Each button has 5 command linked to slot state and modifiers status*:

Empty slot + M1 = 0*: load from deck
Empty slot + M1= 1*: copy from loop recorder
Slot loaded*+ M1=0 + M2=1*: Start/stop slot
Playing slot*: Mute/unmute slot
M1=1+M2=1*: Clear slot

Program 4*: volume control*:
Pad Mode + M2=1*: Decks volume faders
Pads 1/5*: Deck C
Pads 2/6*: Deck A
Pads 3/7*: Deck B
Pads 4/8*: Deck D

M2=0 + CC Mode/M2 =0 + Pad Mode*: Sample slot volume control.

I actually work on the "final" mapping on my lpd8 :
- first bank : basic mixing, loop control, track browsing,
- second bank : deckalized+instant grat focus (flashflood inside )
- third bank : loop recorder
- fourth bank : sample deck

Does it suit you?

It's almost done for the essential, but now, I need to fix the leds issues on the flashflood mapping to make it works with the ldp8 without making traktor freeze... :$

I also have to rebuilt the sample decks controls, and it'll be done...

After that, i'll merge all the banks in different single mapping in order to let you create your very own ldp8 mapping with the differents experiences I made

Thanksbfor the fedback
Glad to see you like this mapping. But if the little one (2 decks+2samples decks) works, the Big one (2decks + MF instant grat) might not work with vci100 SE if there's fx setting in the vci mapping. If ont, I don no why it shouldn't...

Hey Bro

I have been searching everywhere for a mapping like yours for my setup. I love the fact that u can clear all the sample decks in pad mode and play and stop the samples in cc mode.

This is exactly what I have been looking for.

THe big tsi looks cool too can you use it with the VCI-100 SE Djranking s mapping?

Thanks Again

When the trimestre and all their corrections will be finished, I'll have enough time to finish the mappings I wanna port on my ldp8 :
- instant grat on fourdeck (done at 75%) : cause I use the same midi presets for all my mappings, I reassign every message, and don't do the usual thing on the ldp8 (change the midi sent by the midifighter to make them the same as the midifighter)
deckalized focus A/B or A/B/C/D (it'll depend of the way the mapping is written (0%): for this one, I'll modifiy a bit the mapping, cause when need to be able to hold shift button with the third row and I'll remove the "vinyl deck" (pitch bend, etc...) functions...

Some of us like to have some more control, like when you have a VCI or an RMX or any other controllers which aren't fit for 4decks mixing...
Some others -like me- encounter a very annoying bug when their controler glitches when they switch from deckA control to deck C control (it's a very discturbing issue on my vms4...)

For both of them, here's my additionnal controler mapping for the akai ldp8 :
It can deal with deck C & D either in sample deck mode or track mode. Enjoy!
