Instant Gratification & Akai MPD 24 Question
Posted on: 02.08.2012 by Desire Piedmont
I'm using Instant Gratification on my Akai MPD24 and all works well except for one small issue. The 1st beatmasher button on Deck C doesn't disengage when I let it go, I have to hit it again and toggle it off.

I've tried looking under the hood of this beast to figure it out and fix it but can't see the solution. Any ideas?

Cool then, good to know

I didn't even realise that the MPD could be set to toggle or use direct mode with signals. Changing that fixed it.

Given that nobody else was experiencing my problem, I guess it was obvious that the fault was with my mapping of my device and not the Instant Gratification tsi.

Thanks for your help, it's working brilliantly now!

So you are using original MF mapping, I thought you got some created out on MPD24 itself. You definitely need to check how's that problematic button set by unit editor (should be "hold" by default).

This is the one.

I tried to reimport times two, but no luck there.

It baffles me as nobody else seems to have this problem with the mapping. I've changed every relevant toggle to hold and back again but it hasn't sorted the problem.

The same button works fine doing the same thing on decks A,B & D and all other aspects of the mapping are good.

100% sure. Or you didn't import it twice from big import button from down left of the screen? If you got "effect settings" box checked in import window you might need to do it twice. It's traktor bug...

I don't own it ether but having this issue only for deck C and for other decks is working properly makes me believe it's some mapping thing because that button works for other decks at it should.

Probably has to do something with the way AKAI wanted this button to behave. It's some of this kind of hardcoded stuff. Just a tip, I don't own an MPD24 but an APC40 which also produces some weird problems with knobs that glitch around when syncing inbound with outbound signals.

Is there any way to make the MPD24 send pure MIDI inbound-signals? On the APC40 it's called Dumb Mode, where every button is a button is a button. So no programmings, MIDI assign it and define if it's hold or Direct or Toggle or whatever. Maybe something like this exists for the MPD24?

Are you sure it is as simple as that? I don't seem to have any luck with that approach, I've spent a lot of time fiddling with the many button commands for the beatmasher effect and have had no joy.

First check which FX slot is Beatmasher effect engaging from and what FX unit does it use. Then go back to controller manager and find command for that button and change it from toggle to hold.
