VCI-300 Mapping for Traktor 2 Pro
Posted on: 19.12.2012 by Shawna Kordsmeier
I have tried ALL the mappings posted on this site for the VCI 300 and Traktor 2 Pro, but non of them work at all... I am very close to attempting my own mapping, but I thought I would try the community first. I simply want the functions to do exactly what the mixers is meant to do... I have been at this problem for months and months now... Anyone have a fully functional tsi file??

Problem is with reading MIDI massages for sure. Now I see why DJTT never made performance mapping for VCI300.

They are both sending signal for sure. Encoder doesn't seem to work at all... You can see my frustration now... I have a gig this eve, looks like i'll be using itch again.....

Fader-relative was strange from beginning, using this type you can't perform longer nudges since you eventually hit 0 and 127 at some point. Encoder type should work as other VCI does. Did you try both encoder mode?

Add another generic device and add jog turn (encoder relative). If still doesn't work make sure if side of jogwheel send MIDI at all.

btw, on the mapping we were using before, they were set to the "pitch Shift' buttons on the mixer.. wrong spot for who ever originally mapped this

Ok, so i got it sort of working.. There are no modifiers for it, But I believe there should be as the pitch bend doesn't dis-engage when the wheel is released.. I've this mapping soo close to being the way I need it. Frustration!

It was tempo bend(X2 1 inverted, one not) - Fader/knob - Relative.

I've tried screwing with the sensitivity and rotation but I was unsuccessful...

Good idea..
Thanks man

Well I'm blind here. If you have replicated same settings I gave you it should be working after all. Maybe you should start new mapping and map only this command and see will it work properly. That way we can know if any of modifiers are conflicting this.
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
I was curious what the modifiers do
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
tried that. This was my first guess as well
Kellie Myrum

The command is correct, I use it effectively. Could be strange to bi option but try to change type of controller in to fader/knob.

I see a lot of modifiers going on in this mapping so that can be holding too.

Jog turn seems to mess with the scratching too
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
Yup, thats a given.. Still did not work. I of course learned the action to it as well, keeping the motion going until I depressed the learn button as one would with faders..
Kellie Myrum
21.12.2012
That should work... Don't forget to assign it for deck.
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
Negative.. Does nothing...
I believe your on the right track though
Kellie Myrum
21.12.2012
Ok that's good. I want you to follow this path: Add in > Deck Common > Jog turn / type-encoder / interaction-relative. Then you can play with 'rotary sensitivity' to adjust rate for best result.
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
If I knew which add in it was, I could do the learn on my own.. Just unsure which command it is...
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
I had it working at one point but only forward. not backward
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
Scratching works juuuuust fine. two jog wheels. deck a and deck b.. Ya just the nudging. This platter has the scratch surface and the side of the platters for nudging
Kellie Myrum
21.12.2012
To be clear on this, how are your jogwheels acting now? Can you perform scratching? Is side of jogwheel doing anything at all?

I've look in to tsi and seems like scratching is mapped in but I'm not sure for nudging part of jog.
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
To be fully honest, I have no idea how to do a screen shot
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
here is the State I have now..
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
This is what I am having trouble with, Is it tempo adjust, or bend, or what?? Right now I have the map you were working on, and its set to the little buttons by the pitch slider.. I want them to be on the side part of the jog wheels..
Kellie Myrum
21.12.2012
That could help as well. Or screenshot of controller manager with command and settings.
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
Like export my current settings?
Kellie Myrum
21.12.2012
Good to hear! As for pitchbanding, can you make a screenshot with current settings?
Shawna Kordsmeier
21.12.2012
So far my mapping is going smooth as butter. All the major functions work like a charm except the pitch adjust for the jog wheels. I can't seem to figure that one out. One way I had it going, it would only pitch forward no matter if I was spinning the platter forward or backward.. any tips?

Looks like I got those mapping issues figured out. Had a friend teach me how to create one from scratch. I am just running through it, but if I have any other questions, I'll be sure to send em your way. Here is the dj sets I mixed yesterday. Turned out great!

I know since I have created one for VCI100mk2 on this community as well. Although that one was bit advanced.

Feel free to send, I'd like to hear and if it's good I'll use it in performance video for my mapping.

Indeed it does. You know your stuff mate. Can't thank you enough. I'm working on a 2 hour New Years 2012 mixed set most of the day today.. I have a deadline, but tomorrow my entire day is dedicated to this. If your into good house, I'll send ya a copy.

Thanks again

No worries, there should be decent VCI300 tsi and it's 20min mapping really. Just make sure to double check all assignments. Also check with holding shift and see if unit is sending midi in other channel or with different codes then first layer. Most VCI does.

I'm in, just waking up, give me some time to get on it. Seriously thanks for the help.

Found this: http://community .djranking s.com/showthread.php?t=1492

It's MIDI diagram for button LEDs for VCI300 from where I've found out the buttons and LEDs are not sharing same notes... If you can create full diagram for all buttons, faders and jogwheels I could easily create some simple mapping you are looking for by assigning all commands manually and then share it here for testing. I'm requesting this because I don't own VCI but being able to help out if you're welling to participate.

Let me know if you're in.

I did double check and it seems that highs are not assigned to same knob as low is, mapping looks correct for that one.
Shawna Kordsmeier
19.12.2012
Also, play buttons don't work, and every time I touch the jog wheel, it brings the track back to a diff location about 3 seconds back.
Shawna Kordsmeier

Nice one dude. 2 more issues, the gain controls the filters... and the low on channel 1 still also moves the hi's with it.. I'm troubleshooting the rest as we speak. Your the mutha fuckin man btw.. I play live often, and have a bunch of gigs for the NYE season. If i can get traktor to work right, you will make my job much easier

Fully positive.. This particular tsi has the issues I spoke of, and the channel faders are upside down, in that when u turn them up, they go down and vice versa... I'm not without skill, just the knowledge in this case..

Just given it a shot and couldn't replicate same issues you were on about... You sure to post correct file?

If you have a tsi file that works for the 300 (not the mk 2) please feel free to email it to me @ - [email protected]

Now move the knob you're experiencing issue with - in your case EQ low knob and command should be assigned to it, then, scroll trough mapping list of commands and look for highlited ones... In this scenario EQ high adjust, click it and re-map it for corresponding knob. Note: if your high knob already works just delete one you have found earlier using this principal. Do the same for volume knob where your filter comes up along. Don't forget to delete temporarily added command once you're done with editing.

I use this principal effectively.

You can also post this problematic mapping here so I can give it a look.
