Yes actually, I took a picture of a stack of used cassettes, texted it to him asking what he wanted. That John Denver in my avatar was one of them.

A wide, eclectic taste in music is one of the things I'm most proud to have taught my 15 year old son.

Club pilots.

I believe I will actually use this nomenclature too, if I ever get far enough to be one. Right now I am a noob to the whole scene, but learning fast. My S4 will be coming soon too. Yippee! It is also cool to see people share their trade knowledge like Ean. I want to do this too, not so much to share stuff, but more to document our voyage in the DJ world and how far (or how short a trip) we get.

good luck Scamo - I'm turning 50 this year - if only I'd got my S4 some years back. You're in for QUITE a ride

Great comparison.

I'd like to be a club pilot someday! LOL!

I know I will never come to close to developing the kind of Fine Motor Skills that Ean has, but what I DO know is that the tactile experience of the S4 is unique. Never been a big 'gamer' (now I wish I was), but the ergonomics of this ma(s)chine are remarkable. I wonder if it's urban legend that the USAF talent scout for pilots in games arcades, and if so, maybe they shoud be looking at controllerists!

Hehe, Thanks!. We aren't too far apart. I'm 45 and am actually starting this venture with my son, who is 19, as a father son hobby. It's funny my son and I share pretty much the same taste in music and why we've decided to go with mixing music as a hobby.

It should be interesting.

I just found this place, and decided to register after i read this thread. I just purchased an S4 yesterday, hopefully i get it delivered soon! I'm really glad to see this kinds of reactions to the controller, makes me know that i more than likely made a wise choice in purchasing this over any other controller. I don't have much money, so i am very careful when i make a purchase like this.

Some people i know tell me i made a bad choice in getting a controller over a traditional turntable/mixer set...but after all the research i have done, it seems that you can pretty much do anything that people on turntables can do for like thousands of dollars less.. Anyways, i look forward to start using the S4 alongside the new Traktor 2.0 coming soon! =D

Possibly even a more rookie question, but what is an MBP?

My son and I will also be getting a Traktor S4 and want to start fiddling around mixing music together. So, for those fathers out there, you can also get your sons and daughters interested in music and mixing/ djing as a father/son/daughter hobby too. Why not? Other than the kids are a bit too young, but how young is too young?

If you come from vinyl you'll love the s4, if from cdjs then the s4 is a win.

I feel the same way although never say never. But I can always see my s4 as my centerpiece in the house. I may change what I play out with but its really everything I need for traktor. One thing I'd love is the ability to delete grid and drop grid from the s4. I believe that should all be possible as soon as 2.0 comes out (I have no info just an opinion)
