Korg NanoKez, nanoKontrol, nanoPAD / Finally something useful Posted on: 13.06.2008 by Thomas Vitez http://www.dv247.com/news/Korg%20nan...o%20PAD/131777Korg is coming up with some midi controllers that might be incredible useful. The prices in the link at the top might not be fixed, I believe they will come out for 99$ each or something like that. The nanoPad is really awesome for controllerism I will buy at least one, perhaps two for 4 decks. | |

It looks like it will work in Windows XP but have someone managed to pull it of in Vista (2 Nano Pad, 2 Nano Kontroll or 2 Nano Key)? |

Rosella Brickell 01.05.2009 | I have seen the nanoKONTROL, and it does feel kinda plasticy, but not bad. Maybe use the KONTROL for FX on Traktor or a different program. I'm sure you could map the buttons to something usefull (scrolling through effects?). |

Rosella Brickell 28.04.2009 | Can anyone give any info on how the nanoKONTROL works just by itself? Is it any good, or do you really need the VCI-100? |

s for a while and appreciate all the useful info and tips shared by all. I am purchasing TS Pro tomorrow and have been debating on the Xone1d vs. the Nano Pad and NanoKontrol. The size and price of the Korgs are nice. Are you able to run the nanopad and kontrol together to control functions of TS Pro? If not which is better suited to control FX and Loops? Cheers |
Lue Jenssen 23.12.2008 | well its better upon reanalysis, but seems to stop sending if i hit it too hard. ill have to be careful |
Lue Jenssen 23.12.2008 | I just got my nanopad as an early christmas gift, but PAD 6 doesnt seem to send any midi info!!! What the beef??? Could I fix this or is it a dud? |
Alessandra Dussinger 23.12.2008 | mapped nano pad to control effects along my vci-100 with traktor pro. it's all fun and cool except that you can only control all effects at once using XY pad. so you either have to turn on one effect at a time or go with the same strenght of few effects, which obviously limits your creativeness. anyway, it's a fun thing to play with |
Sha Machia 20.12.2008 | has anyone come up with a sample tks for the nanopad? would love to see how others are doing this. |
Sade Ayres 26.11.2008 | have a doubt, wy use the kontrol editor if you can map directly in traktor? am i missing something? thnks |
Elease Hanners 23.11.2008 | Kama- I just checked to see & I believe I told you the right way to do it. Set T Pro to hold and program the Nano to toggle. That way the leds will stay on properly and you shouldn't have to cycle through. When you first open T Pro you will have to press the button on the nano to get the led to light up to show that whatever you have it programmed to is on. So far I haven't figured out a way to merge two TSIs & I don't believe anyone else has had much luck with it either buy you can check the community s and see. |
Thomas Fone 23.11.2008 | thanks - I will try it. Here is a post I put up on the NI Forum - any help would be great thanks I am using 2 controllers* for Traktor Pro and would like to know what the workflow is for dealing with the TSI. It would be much more efficient and communally effective to be able to work with one TSI file per controller and then 'merge them' within Traktor. It would be ideal to be able to update them separately as well. Also is there a way to export the TSI in a legible form? (Like what you see in the Preferences Midi Mapping Window) (How about making that window expandable as well) This would obviously help immeasurably in developing maps. thanks *VCI-100se, nanoKontrol, OS X |
Elease Hanners 24.11.2008 | Kama- I was having the same problem. You actually need to set the T Pro to hold & the Nano to toggle because it acts like a double positive- they are both toggling so then you have to cycle through. I'm Actually in the car right now so I believe this is the right way round but I will check to confirm when I get in & repost if I am wrong. Good luck ! |
Thomas Fone 23.11.2008 | I am putting together a vc100se & nanoKontrol TSI. For loading effects it seems to get the nano LED to stay on you have to set the 'button behavior' in the korg editor from "Momentary' to 'Toggle' But that makes it so you have to press the button twice to get anything to happen. What am I missing here? thanks ( BTW: I just used Rustoleum semi flat spray-paint on mine and it seems to be holding up OK.) |
20.11.2008 | I picked up the last one on display at the local GC today... First off - it's getting returned tomorrow because of a faulty #6 pad. This really peeved me off... I'll probably pick up another after the holidays and see if KORG's quality control has improved. other than that, I might sell off my mpd32 and replace it with a nanopad, based on the sensitivity of the pads and trackpad ease of use... or just go for a secondhand padkontrol... I do like the portability aspect of it, the inexpensiveness of it, and the gumminess of the pads.... wondering if the roll can be synced up via midi... probably not seeing how the padkontrol is unable to... |
Pedro Ber 21.11.2008 | I just got mine.. touch sensitivity feels nice.. sure it's plastic.. but for this price, who cares.. i'd like to paint it black, Kama, what kind of paint did you use? |
Thomas Fone 17.11.2008 | I, like many I am sure, am looking for a tsi for the nanokontrol and vci100 se based on the Ean's latest for the se or burndownthedisco's 'tsi for traktor pro vci100se with fx toggle v2' Can Traktor Pro read from 2 TSI's at the same time or do they have to be merged? Leading to the question - if the djtt community is going to be continually creating new se TSI's, how do us nano folks keep up? |
Nayim Chamlal 17.11.2008 | heres my tks for my vci/nanokontrol setup. im using the vci for decks a and b and the nanokontrol transport section along with the frist 2 sliders and knobs to control either deck c or deck d. at the same time, the rest of the sliders/ knobs on the nano control the effects for all the decks including the final slider and knob which control a couple of master effects. the buttons on the nano also select effects for each deck. im working on a couple more scenes for the nano to include some cue juggle points and maybe a single effect to go with the cue points. let me know what you believe. if you want to try this setup, your also gonna need my korg editor file, so let me know if anyone wants it |
Leonila Rajkovich 17.11.2008 | Any one want to post there midi map for nano kontrol? I would love to see how you are assigning them in traktor. |
Thomas Libal 17.11.2008 | Just a quick note: The delay I was talking about was not at all a fault of the Korg- it's really nice; the delay was caused by the "Cue/Play Instant"-function not being implemented into Traktor Pro anymore Fortunately, nothing DJTT-Forums couldn't fix. So right now I'm mixing away, getting accustomed to Traktor Pro. I do however need WAY more knobs... Probably need to get the Korg-Control |
Elease Hanners 12.11.2008 | I've got a nano kontrol to augment the controllers I have- it works brilliantly for effects in Traktor and also with with Ableton- I'd highly recommend it to anyone. Although it is small and plastic it feels pretty solid for what it is. The rotaries are finite though but I would still say go and get yourself one, for this price you get 4 banks of 9 rotaries, 9 sliders & 18 buttons so you really can't beat the price ! There is an editor so you can change the behaviours of the buttons & sliders etc (toggle vs hold) midi channels and cc #'s etc. You can also save different set ups and then load them onto the controller.Don't forget that with T Pro you can use modifiers to act as sort of a shift so you can actually program a key on the nano kontrol to do this which means you can actually have hundreds of functions on this thing if you can keep it all straight in your head. Well worth the $60. Also: There isn't any delay with it as far as I can tell , it must be a latency thing. |
Roberto Viccione 12.11.2008 | Anyone know if the rotaries on the NanoKontrol are endless? That would pretty much mean me buying, like, thousands of them |
samir abu-sharar 12.11.2008 | OK - My order is on hold until the "Black NanoPad" is available. Hope it doesn't delay much... Tigris: The NanoPad is not the cause of the delay... check your sound card latency settings... if you can lower it without getting any pops/cracks... you will be able to get instant/near instant Cue-Play whenever you depress a pad... |

Thomas Libal 12.11.2008 | Right now I'm using my XSession FX knobs as selector for the chained effects. That works quite well. With the NanoPad I miss the Cue/Play(Instant) command. Right now if I jump to a cue point, there is a minimal delay before it starts playing- caused by the new Cue/Play command. Really annoying. |
