A little help with diy game pad controller please!
A little help with diy game pad controller please! Posted on: 26.04.2010 by Charline Dye I am in the need for a physical crossfader to control the one in Traktor via midi. I have a nice little controller the Stanton SCS3 system, but because it has all touch controls, I have no way to really learn any scratching techniques. After much googling, reading, etc. I believe this can be done with a cheap pc usb game controller that has the thumb joysticks. By connecting a fader to the joystick wiring then using mjoy or the like to translate the HID to midi. 1. Am I correct so far? 2. What kind of(or which)fader/crossfader should I use, and how (what wires go where) would I connect it to the joystick wiring. 3. If I leave the other joystick alone, couldn't it be used for an X/Y controll? Anyone with knowledge or experience out there that can help out? I appreciate any assistance! | |

Charline Dye 27.04.2010 | Hey, thanks that helps! Now to get ordering parts. |
Latia Pfleider 27.04.2010 | I believe you are understanding it all correctly. Crossfaders, knobs, and thumbpad joysticks are all potentiometers. the thumpad joystick uses 2 pots one for X and other for Y. For most of the boards and controllers people mod 10k restiance pots are what people use. this is what I got for a crossfader http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...SJ8GW14g%3d%3d This one is very easy to move (low physical restiance) so thats why I went with it for the crossfader. Standard ones for volume control are cheaper and not as big. |
