Numark Total Mod

With DC stuck in 10 inches of snow, I decided to spice up my Numark Total Control. The first, in my 3-part plan, was to change the color from lame grey to black.

After letting the paint dry it came out looking pretty sick.

My next step will be trying to get my CDJ fader knobs on it, but the issue is the height of my faders. When I put them on it, they hovered and didn't really lock in place.

So unless any of you have an idea on how to get them on their, I

I got them from here

DJTT has them cheaper here

I would have gladly given my money to Ean had I realize they carry the 24mm ones and not the 30mm ones. They're not the low profile ones Which is making it a bit of a challange. Such is life

Where did you find 24mm pushbuttons that where as low as the 30mm ones? I'm only using 3 buttons per deck so it's going well for me, but 24mm buttons would look a lot nicer.

Another Volume Control Widget is specifically developed as a helpful volume control Widget that makes it convenient to change the system volume or even mute it from your desktop

Great news! Got the stealth all pulled apart and thus far its going great. I'm going really really slow because obviously I don't want to screw it up. The only real problem It looks like I may run into is that of having to go with a button setup that goes something like oo8 Once I get this one going I believe I'm going to try get a new face plate from numark and source some 24mm buttons and try it again with them all in a row. I'll post pictures later toevening .

Wow, this is really becoming a team project! I ordered my buttons today, so it's just a waiting game now. Also I got the idea to steal the leads from the "page" button on the controller and use it as a foot pedal. I'm trying to figure out how I can have both the foot pedal and the controller button work at the same time. That way I'm not required to use the foot pedal.

Great thread! I was just looking at the guts of my Total Control the other day wondering how I might be able to jam some arcade buttons in there, now I'm inspired! It's going to get a facelift with all blue leds pretty soon, anyways, so I believe I'll be attempting this as well. I look forward to seeing your progress!

Yeah let's see some pics. It looks like I might be able to do it without have to cut much of anything. Looking at this thing, it looks like its going to be a whole lot easier than I first thought.....famous last words.

I'm glad to hear that the buttons are that low, because now you could just bend the leads on the buttons. If you have them oriented at opposite directions you should be able to make space, right?

Ok so here are the Low-Pro Arcade buttons. The good news is, they are very low profile, the bad news is that they're not quite low enough. The PCB board looks pretty busy down south, I assume that its for the buttons and their respective LEDs but I'm going to have to get in there with a volt meter to test it. Let me know if any one has any recommendations. one option was to do a riser plate out of 1/8" stainless steel.

I received the buttons today! Looks like I'll be able to fit four per side WOOT! And along with that it also looks like I may not have to cut the board as these buttons are very low profile.

I'll post up some pictures of the buttons and their dimensions later today when I get home. Also I'll pull the side panel off my stealth and get a PCB depth measurement to see if they'll fit. Stay tuned.

PS I need a Big-Butt DJTT decal for this thing. Anyone know where I could get one?

That's going to be my first option. Although, looking at the height of the arcade buttons verses the height of the PCB I don't thing this will really be an option.

Can you use a soldering iron to remove those. I am not a pro but I believe that would be a better way to do it.

Ok I just ordered my buttons, the Seimitsu PS-15 30mm. Time to hold my breath. I did order eight as I believe I might be able to fit them all. But it will be a tight fit. If not, I have two extras for spares. When I get them I'll be sure to take pictures and measurements. Next I need some DJTT stickers to prominently place on my arcade modded Numark Stealth.

Although now I feel like an asshole lol, I was checking out his other videos and anyone who commented on his voice he responded that he had speech problems, and his hands are extremely shaky, so I assume he has some sort of neurological disorder. Regardless, his videos are pretty informative and straight forward. Props to him for taking the time to make them regardless of whatever handicaps he may have

Yeah I'm going to order some, I wonder if I can fit four on each side.
Between the Numark stealth, this mod and my scripts of DJDecks I'm building a cheap/ghetto fabulous controllerism setup

Wow sounds like we're on the same page. I'm currently doing this to my Numark Stealth. I came yo the same conclusion about cutting the circuit board.

For buttons, I'm going with

Seimitsu PS-15 30mm Pushbutton

I haven't looked at the board close enough yet as I need my stealth in working order until a Feb 20th gig. Is it just the button circuitry down there, or is the cross wiring going on down there to other components?
