Allen & Heath DX ...?

Latia Sotak 03.10.2009 | I had a good play with the DX at BPM today. ....Damm, that's a lvely piece of kit!! I wish I'd have held back on buying my VCI 300 just a few weeks ago. My only critisism isn't really about the hardware, it's about the 4 deck version of itch that accompanies the DX. If you run a lappy with a smallish screen (e.g. 13" MacBook), you're gonna lose half the scrren to the deck waveforms. .....a big screen is essential!! |
Laurice Migneco 03.10.2009 | Ok, but not worth the money imho, if it was a |

Laurice Migneco 03.10.2009 | Played with it today, it's very solid and the layout is quite intuitive.... Buy two vci's though and you've got a better set up and value for money IMO... Cheers D |
MadMan Ajms 03.10.2009 | price is a little stupid for a darn usb controller and a soundcard. |
Latoria Kavulich 01.10.2009 | $3000nzd+ |
Florence Alch 01.10.2009 | its so ugly and overpriced....:s |
Delila Vandommelen 01.10.2009 | "How to do lame channel level lights" re-edit, now with a new section by A&H :/ |
Vernetta Sulenski 01.10.2009 | The 20 channels on the soundcard that was mentioned above is the same amount that is on the 4D. Which is equivalent to 10 stereo pairs. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same one. That would make it a mini 4D without the MIDI faders. They prob took them out because they really weren't that useful. I never use mine and seeing that Ritchie Hawtin's moved to the Traktor Controller from the 2D which doesn't have any either. |
Mechelle Duncil 01.10.2009 | Why is it so expensive!! I really cant bealive that it cost nearly as the Xone 4D? May it be use as a stand alone mixer (analogue) ? I guess you can |
Ernie Stieglitz 01.10.2009 | +1 You better go for 3d or 4d with that price level. You get more bang for the buck. |

Catrina Swisher 01.10.2009 | Full pic this time of this new bad boy. its sooo freaking expensive. I believe ill stick with my VCI-100 thanks. Plus its for use with Serato, (not that it cant be mapped). can buy one here. http://www.dv247.com/dj-gear /al...-xonedx--68596 |
Nick Ross 02.10.2009 | I just ordered 2 of them from djdeals.com for $0.00 with free shipping. I swear. |
Fidel Fluet 02.10.2009 | On the basis that the Xone 2D has an external power supply and a soundcard with fewer ins/outs plus less flashing lights etc, I'd be VERY surprised if it was bus powered.
but I thought that someone finally would release a controller with a dedicated analogue mixer section for redundancy.
|
Karine Noe 01.10.2009 | Well, "balls" is not really what I believe about it (I looks really nice)... but I thought that someone finally would release a controller with a dedicated analogue mixer section for redundancy. |
Nick Ross 01.10.2009 | My guess is that it won't be only bus powered, but you'll be able to use an external power supply. |
Karine Noe 01.10.2009 | Balls =\ |
Nick Ross 01.10.2009 | Not if it's bus powered |
Karine Noe 01.10.2009 | Does anyone know if it's purley a midi controller/sound card or if the mixer unit is analouge/standalone? My chain of thought is: what happens if your computer were to crash? Would the mixer section of the unit still function? (For fast playback of a new song from your mp3 player/other comp/cd) |
Nick Ross 01.10.2009 | I like it. A lot. A WHOLE lot. |
Fidel Fluet 01.10.2009 | Higher-res pic here for anyone who wants to see the controls in more detail: http://www.decks.co.uk/ImageGenerato...w=14320&h=9800 Shame about the standard rotaries (as opposed to endless encoders + LEDs) for the FX units as this means no easy way to use all 4 units in TP 1.2 (without soft takeover). Other than that looks pretty cool and hopefully has some decent LED feedback too. I recon I'll be waiting to have a play with one before I reach for the credit card though... |

Madlyn Trocino 30.09.2009 | Would it kill A&H to have an endless rotary encoder that ACCUALLY had LED feedback....Or hey...here's an idea....ummm pitch faders perhaps? And while were at it....whats with the black buttons found on ALL of A&H units (including DX) that are impossible to see in the dark, and have no LED feedback. I can spot 12 Buttons that have no LED and 7 endless rotarys that have no LED.... No EQ Kill buttons? unless its built into the EQ knob (like the VCI having two different CC messages on one fader knob) but I highly doubt it. And please God let those NOT be "Rubber Buttons" I see.... |
John Aird 30.09.2009 | * Includes a full Version of Itch software... Meaning that if you own Traktor Pro you need to pay for the Serato licence to use it... Guess it will be sold first as a bundle then later maybe just the controller... |

Fidel Fluet 30.09.2009 | Not sure if you guys realise but I'm pretty sure by 20 channel sound card, they're referring to mono ins and outs e.g. (likely) 4 pairs of stereo inputs (8), 4 pairs of stereo outs (8 more) and some digital ins and outs I guess Some sort of cross between the Xone 2D and 4D soundcards |
Otis Lagman 30.09.2009 | Who needs a kidney? Better start mowing more lawns... Any hi rez pics found would be amazing. Want to see that 20 channel back panel! |

Ernie Stieglitz 30.09.2009 | If this is somewhere in the range of 700 euros or under, it might just be my future weapon of choice. Here's a better looking picture.http://www.divky.com/upload/xone_dx.jpg Edit: Anyone else noticed the "20 channel soundcard" part? |
Gena Tautolo 30.09.2009 | f*cking hell, looks like i'll be selling my vci300 as well..... |
Shelby Blancaflor 30.09.2009 | finally 4 lines of faders and rotaries for internal mixing, I just bought an external mixer to have that kind of control and seriously felt that this was really anachronistic. I really wondered why no one really did that before, too bad that it's gonna have an A+H price tag. |
Janyce Henningson 30.09.2009 | Wow, I stand corrected. So Itch is going 4 decks, I just sold my 300 was gonna get some cdj2000s.. Not now - deffo going for this - looks awesome |
Fidel Fluet 30.09.2009 | Very interesting still excited to see more knowing that it's going to be Traktor compatible. I'd be interested to see how they deal with pitch fading as there isn't a traditional fader for that... Maybe those stripes to the right of the jog wheels are touch sensitive?! It seems quite different from the 1D/2D in terms of the various controls so I'll be interested to see how they map each of those banks of buttons as standard Bring on Saturday and more information!! |
