Couple questions so i can finish up tomorrow:

1) When connecting the diodes to the ground extensions, which way do they need to be soldered? Black stripe closest to wire, or button?

2) Is the diode wire that was attached to the original circuit board useless like the LED wires (for this mod)?

Thanks again.

where did you find the lead wires? or how did you make them?

Definitely right on both accounts.

Thanks, just trying to keep a running tab and encourage those who believe this may be out of their league to rebelieve it and give it a whirl. I went into this blind and found that the hardest part is trusting your machinist to cut the perfect holes. LOL *fingers crossed*

there certainly has been a lot of talk about it, but to be honest, your nearest electronics shop has all you need, and it aint that much ;]

Ok, so I finally finished. Sorry for crappy quality (cell phone). My machinist ended up drilling the holes to close to the front, so I had to sand the bottom tray back. That took forever...
Here is the end product. Just getting familair with it, but first impressions are great. The response on the arcade buttons is fast as hell.

Bento,

believe car bog/bondo would be a good way to seal the casing (square holes) around the arcade buttons?

Im am no machinist and i cut the holes myself with a step drill piece, admitedly they wernt perfect But it was nothing a piece of plastic to backup the holes and some car bog to fill the gaps and reposition the holes didnt fix

So if anyones scared about doing it themselves and making a in the cutting process it is quite possible to correct the mistakes without anyone knowing any the wiser.

Its pretty imporant if you are repairing the holes with any kind of filling compound that you sand back the edged of where the metal and the bog meet so the hole doesnt crack open again.

A dremel is a really really handy tool to have when doing this mod job.

Ok, worked on it more toevening . Everything is in place. Just waiting for the Cover to come back from the machine shop (This is the bit I am most worried about it .
Tested everything out it with traktor and the buttons and grounds work great. Gonna be bangin.

To answer my own questions for the first time venturer such as myself.

- the ground extensions attach to the diode cable on the circuit board pic posted in this thread, not the one labeled ground. =simple mistake I made.

- The diodes will only work one way and that is to have the black stripe furthest from the cable (closest to the button).

Can't wait to get the case back from the machine shop. Will post pics when complete.

Ok, so i was on crack last evening . Everything worked out. I wasn't accounting for the fact that I wouldn't need the screw holes that used to hold the circuit board. Dropped it off at the machine shop out in Brooklyn today. Should be done in a week or sooner. In the meantime I will solder the wires and prep it, so when it comes in I can just solder the buttons and be done.

Thanks.

OK, so I got everything out of the case and am getting the holes put in over the holidays. I printed out the schematic here for the holes, but on my VCI they seem a bit off. I have the SE edition. Are the holes bigger on them. It seems the holes will be drilled into some screw holes. Am I nuts? It seems I am most worried about the holes as the machinist only has one shot to get it right. (See attached photo)

Thanks again

Don`t want to open new topic, just to ask EXACTLY which pushbuttons to buy (I believe from reading posts that this site is best http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/...uttons.shtml)?
And can someone send me "blueprints" for cutting in dxf or whatever format.
What do you believe of ordering 16 buttons just in case or less? I am now able to order them and who knows when will be another chance!
Thanks

You don't really need anything special with the diodes, just got your local electronics shop and get some standard low voltage ones.

Connect wires number 1 red x 4 to the diode part (-) and wires (+) 1-2-3-4 to the button

I got sick of having my VCI-100 in peices so i am wiring up my arcade buttons at the moment, the wiring i just said was just from looking at the circuit board but i am pretty confident that is correct.
