yes, I agree that it wouldn't be portable. However, something like this would eventually become cheap enough that every club would install it. After that its a choice of the DJ bringing his own laptop/software/hard-drive.

As to emulating knobs and faders, I'm sure that this is just another step in the evolution of useability. People used to say they would never type on a touchscreen, or that records could ever be replaced by mp3s and midi controllers... There will always be the old guard.

You'll see in the video that these knobs can be controlled like faders.
I also show why the original Traktor-knobs work horrible.

Sadly I couldn't run the dumb app on the Evoluce One:

CANT WAIT FOR THE REVOLUTION of the EVOLUTION !

way too expensive and not portable at all - ergo: unlikely to spread.

plus, trying to emulate knobs and faders on a touch screen is a joke. I'm working on touch UIs at my university and that's the first thing our dev team immediately dismissed. if you're going to make a touch screen, implement features that make sense (such as x/y pads).

similar to the reactable, it definitely looks cool but has little to no way of becoming a widespread system unless it gets dirt cheap and portable. I believe everybody here knows that you can outperform it many times over with something as simple as a midifighter.

what I definitely see coming on a large scale are ipad apps.

I can guarantee that this won't catch on. It's just a gimmick. Way too expensive plus it doesn't give the DJ an advantage. I can't imagine anyone scratching with it or even beatmatching.

That being said it does look pretty badass but I just don't see it as a real DJ tool.

Check out this giant transparent touch screen running Traktor Emulator. I wonder how long for this thing to become a reality? I know a lot of you will say that it doesn't have the tactile feel of real knobs and shifters, but I believe this could honestly be seen in lots of clubs sometime in the future. It would eventually be much more cost effective, not to mention it shows everyone how you're mixing...

I believe we're a long, long away before what we see in the video is really practical. A see through screen with at the very least waveforms is something that's pretty close to being widely available.

tried it and wasnt that blown away. first, this only works on 12.1" screens with 1280x800 display resolution. my brother's notebook has 1366x768...powerstrip fixed this problem.
the software itself is really well made and fun to use, but there's a couple of downers for me.
first, the screen of most tablet PCs is a glare type so it's kinda hard to draw on it in a smooth motion (it gets harder with sweaty fingers). the rough surface of my scs3 works a lot better.
second, i believe all the knobs should be designed as faders. it would make EQing a lot easier.
plus, i noticed some kind of lag in the volume faders. you can see what i'm talking about in the videos posted above. when he quickly moves his finger over the fader, it doesn't follow immediately.

my verdict: with external mixing this programm could be really fun, but with EQing in internal mode it's not that good imho.
still, for someone who already owns a tablet pc and who's on a tight budget this is a cheap entry to controlling traktor!

Fuck Me, that is awesome. Star Trek awesome! it really looks like controls for starship, fuken love it.!!

btw, what is this technology? it's touch sensitive display crossbreed with some kind of holographic tech? how expensive is that?

would be dope for some big name DJ to perform with this.
