Finally started this project a couple of days ago.

The plan is to make some cases for my Technics sl1200's and my M-Audio Xponent.

Here are a few sketchup renders of what i want to build.

I was wondering this too; I assume you took them apart and wired up the arcade buttons to where the controller buttons were, and then use a HID-MIDI translation software?

Maybe you could upload some pictures to the community ? Some people (like me) doesn't have access to public filesharing urls at work... That can limitate your viewers :P

I'm glad you've got this baby nailed. It looks (and here's a word I never use) awesome.

A quick question, did you get XPadder to work the pots or did you end up using something like GlovePie?

Hope you end up having lots of fun with these babies.
Thanks Archies'bald.

Xpadder went out the window as soon as i decided to add a couple of knobs to each case. I ended up using Glovepie which works great.

Good work - the level of effort and detail on these is amazing. I would've liked to have seen the decks flipped 90' - but if you ain't scratchin', you don't need 'em flipped...
Thanks Patch

Funny you should mention flipping the decks as a fellow DJ friend of mine has just asked me to build him a pair that way.

Man you deserve a blog post on the main site...
This project is awesome! Congrats!

I was wondering this too; I assume you took them apart and wired up the arcade buttons to where the controller buttons were, and then use a HID-MIDI translation software?
Thanks again guys.

When i start making the next set of cases i will post an in depth tutorial with lots of pictures.

Hell of a job man. I really like how you made enough room for the laptop.
I have to confess that i never planned that. The main thing was to have the Xponent case the same height as the deck cases. Must admit it put a smile on my face too.

A few more pictures.

Everythings wired and working just need to get some flightcase hardware (angle, corners, handles and catches etc.)

Ended up spraying the Xponent and replacing knobs - still got to get some fader caps

Built a laptop stand for the Xponent case plus fitted both power supplys into back of case

Laptop fits in the case too

Just making a few mappings in traktor now

Heres a few photos of the components being used to build this project.

When i ordered the gamepads off flea bay i thought i was getting 2 seperate gamepads but when they arrived i noticed they were linked together.

I figure this is a good thing as i will only use 1 usb slot on the laptop.

Heres the rest of the components.

And the arcade buttons.

Gonna start putting it all together later today.

Update.

Gave the deck cases 4 coats of Tuff Cab Paint and fitted the foam.
Still got a little more work to do on the Xponent case.

I'm very pleased with how the paint went on. It's got a textured kind of finish and i get the feeling it will live up to it's name.

you could try putting some small washers on the rotaries underneath the plastic knob caps to bring them up a little higher and not touch the casing.

Food for thought and it would save you time modding the case.

where are you getting the new knobs for the xponent? i've got an xsession pro and would like some better feeling knobs.
