It depends.... What's your set up atm? Traktor? CDJs?

There's only two mixers in this world I would ever have atm, and that's

Allen & Heath Xone 92, or Pioneer DJM 800..

Both can be found for u under

At the time, I decided it was "too much" mixer for me in the wrong ways…never been that into effects, so I bought something that was cheaper and didn't have a bunch of stuff I wouldn't use anyway.

Has anyone stopped to believe that this place might confuse people more than just not offering advice?
lol yeah

every week I believe I've seen something I want and which direction I want to go with djing only to be confused by the end of week.

I would love a xone 42 personally but can't justify the expense with an audio 8/10 soundcard.

cheers

As stated earlier, your best bet is to go out and demo as many as possible. And as for the people talking negatives on the Pioneer, please don't listen to them. I won't say for or against, but I will point out that if it did suffer from the issues most people are claiming (poor effects and sound), it wouldn't be recognized as the industry standard, and DJ's across the world wouldn't be requiring them in their contracts. Again, not arguing for or against the 800... just calling the personal opinions out for what they are, and acknowledging it for the tank it is. Definitely worth your consideration at least.

Allen and heath is ownded by denon and marantz also, so soundqualitywise there is much more knowledge with them as pioneer will offer, because on the pro audio-market marantz is a serious player and pioneer have no real part in there and don't forget that in 2009 when the 1600 came on the market for 900euro's, pioneer didn't even come close with their mixers at the time.... not for 900 with a perfect soundcard a fully midi mappable and routable..... weakpoint:the fader.....

Before dropping $1K on anything I'd be asking myself "What am I going to do with this thing that's gonna' cost me $1K on and why do I need this so darn bad?" Do you need 2 channels, 4 channels... more? Are you considering New, Used and Refurbished? Are there any features you know you want (and don't want)?

For that cost you could pick up a used Evo 5 or DN-X1700 and get a LOT more mixer for your money, and still be happily TSP certified. A few hundred more and go for a used Xone 4D. Plenty of things I'd rather do with a grand than a pioneer mixer.

Laidback Luke, Roger Sanchez, and thousands of other professional DJs around the world craft great-sounding mixes and they certainly use their fair share of effects, so I'll respectfully disagree with you there.

Let ask you a question; do you believe effects sound cheesy in general, or just the DJM 800 effects in particular? If it's specifically the 800 you don't like, what effects do you prefer? I'm not bashing you here, I'm honestly curious.
Hi there, well i'm open to any discussions & thank you for your time to reply to me. it makes me feel useful
Usually i would play around with filter & the color effects (my fav is crush)..it's the only 2 effect set i'll use.
I play a lot of trance so basically it's fine at their own, i believe i dont need to drench the layered atmospheric & padded music with more effect...but i'm not a pro either. When i put effects on them it makes those tracks sounded even sharp & tinny
Effects might work well with other types of music though, or i have to revise my mixing method to more interesting styles (which now after 4 years i admit i'm getting stale & can be easily bored since i dont have any support), or try other music genre (not too successful since i keep coming back to trance :P )

Not sure if i'm answering your questions but that's what I personally feel about DJM-800 effects.

The DJM-T1 is likely to sound fine. It's been a while since a good DJ mixer or sound card actually sounded like crap.

The other arguments are perfectly legit, though. I don't like the way Pioneer's mixers feel at all, and I agree than an X1 is a better choice if you're running Traktor. If not

Eh. Sure it has the Traktor soundcard, but I've heard nothing about the sound quality and the mixer has no on-board effects, just midi controls on the mixer. It's cool to have them on there, but I really don't see what's so special about it since you could do the same better with an X1. At least the value proposition is more reasonable now though. Still, I'd much rather have a used DJM 800 and an Audio 8 than a DJM T1, even though it would cost a bit extra with the X1.

If traktor, the dnx1700 does look like a great choice If u find one for 1k.. That would be alot of bang for the buck..

If not traktor, djm800 isnt bad.. Rane mixers are usually pretty nice but dont have much experience with them. I probly wouldnt go with AH if i didnt have software to complement it with fx.
