Midifighter Extreme!! mod project!!
Posted on: 07.04.2011 by Hunter Renslow
Ive been working on a midifighter mod project.I am going to do a full build log,the project just took up alot of my spare time so I haven't had a chance yet!

Bourns 60mm faders and CD4051B multiplexers. The multiplexers Fatlimey talks about in this thread http://djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=23597

The multiplexers set up with 8 inputs into each one(some are being used for buttons so i added pullup resistors at a later stage)

case made out of mdf

primed up!!

button layout!
The 4 black buttons on the left are "global banks" the change the midi channels to 3,4,5 or 6.The notes and cc's are always the same just the channels change!!
Code:
Bank 1 - browser
Bank 2 - loops
Bank 3 - deck control
Bank 4 - effects(instant gratification)
The white button under the global bank button is a shift button

The four black buttons on the top are for decks a,b,c and d (four banks mode)

leds on the buttons are controlled by a pic24

I would personally like to see more articles/tutorials on this midi device coding.

I understand how it works etc...but would like to know more.
And I am sure there are others here that would like some advanced stuff like too.

Props dude!

im struggling to understand the start on the jargon... google help me..

Awesome! Just took a look, thanks for keeping it well commented!

I won't be starting work on my project for a little while, but thanks for being open for questions. I'm sure I'll have some once I get in the thick of it.

We finally got around to doing up some schematics and some more photos. As soon as I get around to fixing up sidetrakds website and write up an overview of the firmware changes, we will post more details about what we did and how we did it. Only took half a year longer than expected to get something written up...

Wow this is great! I've got a Midi Fighter Classic on the way right now, and I definitely want to mod it like this at some point. I had wanted a Midi Fighter Pro but none of the configurations really suited me, so I want to build my own. I have a lot of soldering experience and I am a software developer, so it seemed right up my alley. Thanks so much for taking the time on this and customizing the firmware. Subscribed.

I can see that. My issue is that I generally have a shift key and will have knobs set to different effects, this can cause issues. Guess its a matter of preference.

Looking forward to new updates!!

I assume 2 is bad ie. 180 deg is one and the other 180 is 2 and so on.. but I don't know if I need 400 or if that is excessive.

Its a generic satin black car paint,Everything was sanded smooth, well primed and rubbed down with wet and dry sandpaper!
My next project I'm cutting aluminium tops though,We abused this case during testing and reckon the paint wont be the most durable for gigs etc.
