That's a great idea.

What were Crane doing reading this community ? Getting ideas from DIY projects for their new products I guess ... has anyone seen a newer video ? links ?

I have a great laptop stand from a brilliant company in Catalonia who don't mind me posting about it. The only problem is it's too heavy to be portable. So I am building a lightweight version of their design. I informed them I would be doing this, and they didn't mind.

I removed the extendible legs, and it's perfect for an S4 underneath and a huge laptop above (with space for a MIDIfighter) ... and the best thing, (apart from being rock solid) - IT'S CHEAP !

I for one would love to see a list of the alleged international Laws broken....

If this was a commercial venture I'd be all up for them protecting their ass, but showing peeps how to create a DIY project, Seriously

I'll try to figure out a way to use aluminum tubes and no soulder, so it can get lighter!

in the spirit of being childish i say repost the video as the c*nt stand. seriously pretty lame to shut down a diy thing. its not even like their product is exceptionally complicated and your revealing a trade secret. lame. hope the vid goes back up i'd like to check it out

I made one of these from the ideas originally posted in this form, and I've gotta say its awesome and if you have a build it yourself and save money bone in your body you should do this. I notice the C**NE stands are a little bit too short for some of us (I'm 6'4") and don't like to bend down to see my laptop for every single song. Bending down over and over hurts my back after 2-4 hours of spinning. I also made the inner leg (the base piece that sits on the table) extend a little bit wider like a "T" shape at the end. I did this to give it a more stability and to make sure my laptop doesn't go crashing to the floor if somebody accidentally hits it. It cost me about half as much as the C**NE stand including tools and it has an open section where my laptop sits so that there is plenty of air flow. I also put some rubberized tape where my laptop sits so that it doesn't shift around at all. It's awesome and you should do this if even contemplating it!

I wouldn't use the word Crane at all since they are already watching what you do.
I also believe they are being a bit overzealous about a do it yourself video. Most people who want and have the $ for a high priced laptop stand would just buy it. The do it yourself crowd probably wouldn't buy it anyway. If anything, you just raised their brand awareness.
I'm not saying they were wrong to have you take their brand name out of your videos. Just sounds like they were not very cordial about it.

Your idea and video were great!

what about calling it a "Crane Style" or "Inspired by the Crane" stand?

Thank's PhotoJojo!
I'll see what I can doo, cause I believe I still have the videos, but I can't put them again because I said Crane too manny times... hehehe!! They're quote: "You have broken roughly 30 international laws", so I gess I better get off so I dont get a law suite.. hehehe!
I'll see what I can do (The only way I see possible is by changing the name and say wathever, and film it all over again, but this time saying aluminum instead of aluminium, hahahahhahaha), but I'll have to wait just a bit before I post something again...
Sorry about this you guy's! Hope you understand my situation...

I've removed all of the videos and put a note there explaining it. I hope you can reshoot the videos or maybe just rename them so we can get them back in.

Hi guys!! Sorry I've been away for a long time, but now I'm back!
As for you guys asking me for a tutorial on how to make it... Don't know if that is going to be possible, since I'm not believeing on making another one, but I'll post another video were you can see all the pieces apart, so you can figure it out.
It's really a simple process, the most important thing are measures!!
Once the locks are in closed posicion, you don't have to worry about the weight.
It's not going to fold down wille you're using it!! hehehehe!!
As for the ones wondering about the paint job... It's all covered in textured black carbon fiber vinyl. I've bought some sheet's and made it all myself.
For the ones wondering how much it costed, well, only the tubes and joints costed around 40
