Something new from Pioneer tomorrow? - Pioneer RMX-1000
Something new from Pioneer tomorrow? - Pioneer RMX-1000 Posted on: 15.03.2012 by Amira Gotcher There's lots of chat on Twitter today about a big announcement from Pioneer tomorrow. At first I thought it must be the CDJ2000 Nexus that everyone has been speculating about recently but i'm starting to believe it might be a new FX unit. Sasha tweeted earlier that he'd got to see a new 'thing' today from Pioneer which he said was a game changer. I'm intrigued to see what they've come up with...

Ulysses Vittetoe 16.03.2012 | Yeah that's what it looks like, I'm anxious to see what the software is like that accompanies it. |
Bethel Himmelein 16.03.2012
Basil Forshee 16.03.2012 | It's an FX unit and you can sample some shots with it and overdub that, as far as I can see. |
Ulysses Vittetoe 16.03.2012 | This looks really cool, I'm excited . It's definitely not just an FX unit from the way they're shown using it. |
Raymundo Lazzarotto 16.03.2012 | Holographic waveform projections ... No ... Waveforms on an iPad via wifi ... No ... FX via a touch screen ... No ... Red 2000s ... etc |
Basil Forshee 16.03.2012 | So, just looked in my inbox (yes, I'm subscribed...) and received an email for their new announcement: http://pioneerdj.com/mlmg/rmx1000-en.html
Pioneer is setting a new benchmark in pro-DJ gear
, with the awe-inspiring RMX-1000 remix station. Taking a totally new direction to effectors and samplers, the RMX-1000 is a three-in-one system comprising editing software, innovative performance hardware and VST and AU plug-ins.
Club quality and fully customisable remix station unit The ultimate multi-use unit, the RMX-1000 can be used with mixers, CDJs and laptops in the booth, or with a PC in the studio for recording and producing. With fully customisable settings, the RMX-1000 offers the kind of flexibility never before seen in hardware. The control parameters can be completely modified using the remixbox software included. The hardware offers three ways to access settings. Default activates Pioneer’s intuitive factory settings. And User settings can be stored on the unit, or on an SD card to be taken along to the booth – DJs simply plug their SD card in to get immediate access to their personalised controls. And Pioneer plans to make settings from internationally renowned DJs such as Chuckie, Kissy Sell Out, Kutski, James Zabiela, Doorly and Laidback Luke available for DJs to download. Personally, I believe it's lame. FX from Pioneer sounds like nothing for me - especially since I've used the Xone DB4. But for CDJ DJ's it's a great extension, plus it's not so big as the EFX-500/1000. So this was the game changer that Sasha was talking about? |

Alla Bluemke 15.03.2012 | Thats actually pretty sick. Makes you not really require a DJM 900 as its already got those features...Get an 800 and this and call it a day. |
Verlene Geevarghese 15.03.2012 | Considering that they've been slashing the prices on all of their gear, maybe they're starting to get the hint? I was going to say anywhere between 1500-2000, but if ~920 winds up being the retail, then the street really won't be all that bad! |
Dino Hapgood 15.03.2012 | when someone says "Game Changer" about pioneer - I'm just going to believe "replicating what software can do with overpriced and complicated hardware" from now on. I don't understand the appeal of products like this for a few reasons - If you're the type of person who just likes to "turn on and go" with your DJing - then this doesn't appeal to you. If you're the type of person who likes to sit at the computer and remix - There is software that is more powerful and built specifically for this purpose. And you can buy hardware to suit your needs. And Software is more modular. The only people this would even appeal to are individuals who already have the newest kit from pioneer. It doesn't expand their market. It is trying to compete directly with traktor, especially with the F1, and 2.5 w/ remix decks coming out. It basically signals to people "we didn't make the FX in our mixers as good as the FX in this box" so on and so forth. I just don't get it. Forgive me for my ignorance. Maybe I'm young and stupid, but hardware solutions like these just seem a little silly, especially since pioneer is (at least rumored) going to have full integration with Traktor very soon... 1000+ for what would be used as a simple midi controller is strange to say the least. |
Christina Fallo 15.03.2012 | According to the site the twitter post got the info from, the street price is € 699.00 ($914 USD). Sounds a bit cheap from Pio gear, and definitely cheaper than the EFX-1000. Would like to see a demo of what it does before I consider it, IMO the 900 has plenty of effects as it is... |
Danae Dumler 15.03.2012 | OK Game changing for sure but not necessarily in the good way. And I thought I was tired of hearing poorly thought out button-mashing wonkathons with people overdoing effects, this will take it to a whole new level.... Still, looks like it will be a lot of fun to play with and I certainly would love to get my hands on one though I probably wont buy it. |
Dorie Scelzo 15.03.2012 | That actually looks like it could be fun. Anyone want to speculate on price? $1500USD street? |

Verlene Geevarghese 15.03.2012 | I believe he's still using CDJ2000's, but with a DB4 and Rekordbox analyzed sticks. Occasionally he'll connect a MBP with ableton for samples every now and again if I'm not mistaken. He was definitely using T2 recently, as my buddy who was at his show was quite bummed about (he's a vinyl purist). But I definitely fourth the notion that if Sasha is standing behind the product, it must at least be interesting (and overpriced). |

If he says its a game changer, I'm guessing either that the CDJ-2000Nexus (or whatever) is somehow really awesome or that they did something subtle like giving Rekordbox functionality to an iOS app, so you don't have to have a computer to use Rekordbox. I don't really know what to expect, but I'll bet it'll be overpriced. |
Alla Bluemke 15.03.2012 | I'm feeling like a new apple goodie is being released. Like iphone 5 day or something haha. |
Romelia Stankard 15.03.2012 | Yeah that's the only reason I'm excited, I trust sasha here. |
Amira Gotcher 15.03.2012 | You're right djproben but coming from Sasha, who is not Pioneer sponsored (he was very late to switch to CDJs and uses Allen and Heath mixers) suggests its a genuine comment. We'll see tomorrow I guess. |
Kasi Marget 15.03.2012 | Maybe it's not hardware :D |
Alla Bluemke 15.03.2012 | haha very true. Although the idea of a link feature that has waveforms on top of each other would be insane. zoomed wave forms, and waves showing up on both screens overlaying each other would be so crazy though. They will never have an all in unit that in not hooked up to a controller. People what their modular products, and it would kill their business model. |
Len Lukawski 15.03.2012 | Steroids. Now that was a game changer. Level 2. Now that was some next level stuff. |
Danae Dumler 15.03.2012 | I suppose it's not possible that the term "game-changer" is just an overused marketing gimmick. |

Lang Abriel 15.03.2012 | One unit, no computer needed, has side by side waveforms...if its a "gamechanger". Something that acts like a computer but doesn't use a computer because obviously pioneer can't give in to dj's using laptops. |
Alla Bluemke 15.03.2012 | I hope its not a 2k nexus. Cause I just got my 2ks! haha I don't want gear envy just yet! |
Amira Gotcher 15.03.2012 | James Zabiela has been doing a few photoshoots for Pioneer recently and he's their FX guru which made me believe it's a new FX unit. I'd prefer it to be a 2k Nexus though as I'm pretty covered for fx with the DB4... |
Alla Bluemke 15.03.2012 | And a new CDJ is? I mean not sure how much they can change to a CDJ to make it a game changer.... But who knows. |
Romelia Stankard 15.03.2012 | I'm sure it's the 2K Nexus, I'm very curious to see what they come up with and I really hope it is as big as they make it out to be and not just a 2K MK1 with a few tiny updates. I doubt it's an FX unit, there is not a big enough market really and external DJ FX units aren't game changers. |
