exactly.

I feel sorry for people leading themselves to drug abuse due to the thousands of problems they face in their lives. and I dont dare call them junkies, as they've been through loads of shit that most of us wouldnt have the strength to endure.

however, I cant feel sorry for someone who had EVERYTHING they dreamt of and ruined their life because they thought rehab was a bad idea... thus her death was no surprise to anyone.

"so they tried to make you go to rehab but you said no, no, no?"
sometimes it seems as if life has a weird and cynical sense of humour. and I love it.

Very Clever.

Now, Winehouse died at the same time as a horrible atrocity was committed in Norway. Winehouse led a drug-filled, abusive life, in Norway, ~90 people were murdered, for no reason other than not being nazis.

When the death of Amy Winehouse gets more publicity (not in the media obviously, but stuff like Facebook etc.) than the terrorist incident in Norway, I can see how that might upset some people.

Now, I'm not saying that any death is somehow "more important" than others, someone passing away at the age of 27 *is* sad. But I can definitely see why the way some people prioritize whatever they share on Facebook/community s can upset others.

It's sad that she's dead, but the tragedy in Norway was much worst. Get your priorities straight A-murrika.

Great voice.

Had the misfortune to have paparazzi follow her around every time she wandered around Camden looking confused; all because the British public lap up celeb's tales of woe.

Most addicts don't have to face that too. Anyone who has ever bought a newspaper or magazine because of a 'look what Winehouse has done now' should be ashamed.

Just read in the paper and several news websites that she died from overdosing on alcohol and ecstasy. Which quite frankly I believe is bullshit

For me i see it as one main problem: America (and many other ppl) have their priorities messed up for the most part. I by no mean any disrespect for Amy (may she rest in peace), but this makes me feel all these "rest in peace" status updates and such rather unneeded. I can easily tell most of the people posting statuses like that only knew her because she was a celebrity and have never heard any of her songs (hell, even I am one of them).

What I am getting to is that people die everyday (some unfortunately in worse ways then others). What about the attacks in Norway or the recent gunning in Texas earlier today? Those were tragedies too. Yes I understand that people were obviously more connected to her then those people (and even some of us musicians), but I just feel that people take celebrity deaths way too seriously.

im just tired of my facebook page blowing up with Amy Winehouse, when 92 children were shot on a secluded island by some guy!!! its horrible! just because she is famous, we give her so much attention.. I mean she over dosed on drugs, its not like she was an angel or somethin. makes me mad.. Sorry if i sound like a dick, but there are worse things going on in the world people should be upset about.
i agree with this 100% dude...i could care less about a drugged out celebrity when you look at the tragedy of what happened in Norway! you dont sound like a dick i feel the same way

funny, I'm tired of my facebook page blowing up with people suggesting that if you cared that Amy Winehouse died you were somehow disrespecting people who died in Norway. The two things have nothing to do with each other; a tragedy is a tragedy, and whatever you believe about how someone led their life, the day of their death is the wrong time to judge them.

Not yet I don't believe. But it's going to be either one of three things: heroin, crack or alcohol overdose

edit: should have read the whole thread before posting

Sad... I don't know if she'll have the same legacy as those others. Frank is a great album and Back to Black is a phenomenal album. I don't believe she had enough success for "legendary" status though.
