Who else think unrelated pic threads should be stopped
Posted on: 05.08.2011 by Loralee Erban
Its come to the stage where you are trying to read posts about an intesting subject that may actually be relevant and when you scroll down and see the name of one of a handfull of members you pretty much know an unrelated picture is coming up with some shitty remark under it.

This community is going to end up turning into a joke. The same people seem to keep derailing threads with this utter and blatant spam... This is what the off topic section was about but it seems like some people are just pretty much jumping up and down waving saying "look at me" now I know there are some younger members on the site and we need to respect their childish antics but at the end of the day this is an informative help site dedicated to djing not "google images"

Who else finds this annoying and believes it should just be kept in the off topic section??

If you believe this place is abusive, you really need to get out onto the internet more - this place is one of the friendliest places I know, given the size of the community s and that many of the people on here have never met ...

I fear you might be fighting a losing battle on this one ...

Lot of moaning at the mo.

I would mind an example of a thread that asked a genuine question that didn't get answered and was derailed with pics.

I believe that it happens I just want to see your example?

Ps posting pics on this thread is totally relevant to make a point and not bullying.

seriously stiffy. nobody took it to heart.

just the same as how you shouldn't take random pics etc. that are for a laugh to heart.

half the fun of djtt is that it's an easy going crowd of jokers, who also generally know their shit about dj/dance culture.

if all it was was tech talk it would be a total bore and most the people who share knowledge of 'on topic' subjects wouldn't stick around.

i was just believeing of how much it just attracts people to POST up the exact kinds of things your talking about when you name the thread what you did.. im believeing maybe next time if you name it" HEY PEOPLE POST UP SOME AWFUL DEGRADING BULLYISH PICS" the result might actually be a bunch of people telling you that its not really appropriate to post such things on a site people come to for learning?

just a thought.

I see the point your making but if shit like that gets outa hand the site will go downhill several other people have brought up stuff about it before. I dont want it to be an unfriendly or unwelcoming atmosphere because thats the whole reason I come here...

Just believe the bullying/spam is rather annoying and im pretty sure if the shoe was on someone elses foot they would believe the same.

For me to notice this and point it out to the members here ive been rather amused at the childish responce ive gotten off a lot of what im sure are "grown men"

What needs to be done to help keep the site nice is.... Stop the spamming, stop the snotty remarks with the pictures but keep the fun and post pictures were appropriate.....

Now I know about 10000 people will prob disagree and say no but thats just my suggestion when people come here looking for help im pretty sure they dont want to be bombarded with pictures with little phrases insulting what theve asked... Now hopefully someone will see this from my point of view and be mature but after what ive seen I wouldnt hold my breath on it.

Ha people dont get the point im trying to get across though... I have nothing against the pictures but im against when they are used to either derail a thread with a genuine topic or to gang up and bully a respondant or OP with a sly message as you will notice throughout this thread

Wouldnt really call it that but a community to inform us with djing shit and people just get abusive and spam everything with pictures people need to realise this isnt a chatroom or a social network its a dj related community ...

Im fairly sure rules will prob be put in place anyway, just like there should be a way for mods to suspend people breaking the rules and bann if done too much.... We have off topic chat for all this shit now....

This is exactly why I posted it OP's or respondants getting abused with pictures... In the case of some people saying some of them can be funny, the ones posted in responce to this come across as bullying in a way.... They should really put an age limit in this site but then again most of you are probably just imature men.

Exactly... I said sorry if I offended, now instead of helping the situation you are pretty much doing what you are accusing me of doing on that thread.... 2 wrongs dont make a right... Thankfully the OP didnt get offended in that thread you were the only person to.

Now the stuff you are talking about has nothing to do with the Original topic so we dont want you getting reported for OT spam do we??

That stuff was in the past and I did appologise to the OP wether it was or was not influenced by you, I realised I was in the wrong and admitted it their and also here...

You barked at me then, you bark at me now.
You tried to be funny in the wrong situation and now you want the "unfunny" pictures to stop.

I got my facts straight. You crawled back and said you were sorry after I called you out for it.

And how does it have anything to do with posting pictures? Read my previous comment again.

No more like you were trying to make out that I was the one being a dick... When If you go back and look at the thread you can see that I blatantly said im waiting for someone to say that... Then I later said sorry... How is that anything to do with spamming the shit out of djtt with unrelated pictures??? Grow up would you and at least get your facts right before posting

Actually if you go back to that post you will notice I said "waiting on someone to say"get a windows"" not actually saying get a windows and then someone else "lol'd" then after realising the person may of even took that the wrong way I gave a sincere appology and wished the op the best of luck with getting it fixed.........

I'm unsure how a meme pic etc. could lend anything helpful to a thread not in the off topic community . Kinda see where OP is coming from on this one. Not everyone is here to hang out and pass time, and I guess that's what OT community is for for those that do?
Loralee Erban

I dont mean in general like im all up for a bit of fun and a laugh but like when its a proper serious question and like people have said already the whole "this again stuff" it gets kind of old and lame, and once that starts someone has to come in and better that person with a better picture and so on.... And then it gets out of hand. It usually is down to the same people though and with off topic it stopped a bit but looking through a few threads in general chat today started to notice them popping up all over again since some people arent getting that whole *audience standing there clapping* responce they used to get in general chat....
