Comet Elenin?

who heard about this?

do you want me to share more info on the topic ?

Have to say that this event seems perfectly aligned with the fabric knowledge of our age/time ...

Btw, who wrote about a comet aligning with the earth and the sun? Come on... It's a comet. I don't care if it aligns with my mothers questionable values of encouraging 4 year olds to freebase heroin, but a comet isn't affecting anything unless it's crashing into the pentagon. Awesome thread.

That's not exactly true. Gravitational effects rely on mass and distance so more mass essentially means more gravity. The problem with planet alignments is the distance between the planets means they are too far apart for their mass to have any noticeable effect on the Earth. However, when the moon, Earth and sun align (bi-monthly) their combined gravitational effect causes our spring tides (peak ocean tides).

Thanks Chris! I was counting on you, tbh

the lady who did the video claims it was done with iphone4

never mind, thanks a lot for the effort!

I just took a stack of photo filters and looked up at the sun and didn't see anything,
Francina Decosse
11.09.2011
so you don't see it or you didn't even look for it?

I have too much trust in people to believe that someone could try and fake it

please check it if the Sun is still in the skies

thats bullshit...its fake you can see it moving when she moves the camera...nice try

here is a video made few minutes later - it should be easily visible

have to say that it wasn't like this today from where I am ...

do you guys see it ?

Could someone from the US check if this is real?

I was looking for it today, but did not try with a filter. It's now 11PM and have no chance to do it.

here we go again :-P

although http://sydneystargazers.com/ are seeing the comet as dimming and eventually breaking apart, this still stays in-line with the capacitor theory. Besides the video for this theory in my early posts in the thread, there's one more quite interesting article on the topic:

it really seems ridicules to believe how such a small comet would affect us at all, but the capacitor theory is interesting. If true, it might really cause electro-magnetic storms and seismic activities during the line-up. The current data is that it appears to be "fading away" in the last 3-4 days. It is even expected to disintegrate before it reaches the closest point to the Sun. Funny but that is the expected behavior and actually adds to the probability that it really is a capacitor.

Here are some daily pictures: http://members.westnet.com.au/mmatti/sc.htm

Do you also know that there are actually 3 commets which will all be here at around approximately the same time - the names are Elenin, Honda & Levy. According to the orbit projections, they won't crash, but will be very close and also close to us.

When you compare the gravitational effect that the moon has on the earth, as opposed to elenin and the size difference between the two, you will see that there is nothing to worry about.

Gravitational alignments are bogus too. Just because a planet is aligned with one or more planets does not somehow magically multiply the gravitational effect they exert on another object

It's so sad to see so many people believe in all that crap that is thrown on the internet by all those freaks that have not even the slightest idea about what the hell they are talking about. All those esoteric "prophets" and their conspiracy theories are absolute trash. I could easily disprove any of the theories those fanatics throw at my by simply believeing about what I learned in the physics classes back in school.
Those people base their theories on selective cognition, which (sadly) works with dumb people (any conspiracy theory is believed and spread by [relatively] dumb people). And the whole wuss about Elenin is generally sad, just because certain idiots post stuff on the interwebs a simple cosmic object gets hyped to a world destroying, conciousness raising brown dwarf (which it isn't)? Come on people, learn to believe for yourselves, learn to believe critically and don't believe all those bullshit theories that get put on the internet.

i do believe in consciousness growth with all my being. It's happening and i'm seeing it in all and everyone. People are naturally trying to be better with each other, despite all the difficulties. That is a growing trend. You have to be blind not to see this, honestly ...

Have to say that I somewhat don't want to trust these cataclysms thing. So far, I haven't found a reputable source for an Elenin disaster. The more I dig into it, this whole thing seems to be a hoax. For example, the Australian astronomers, who can actually observe it, don't see any clues for it having huge mass or being extremely dense (=very unlikely to be a dwarf star) - just a comet, they say:
http://sydneystargazers.com/2011/08/...n-27th-august/

the capacitor theory - could be, but why such a severe projection?

Nonetheless, it's strange how the media is mute about it and no one says - "look, it's passing and it'll be beautiful. Make sure not to miss it" ...

Jerks that get on internet community s and call be stupid because they do or don't believe in something are the real idiots.

I'm sorry Voetsch, I never should have insulted you like that. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that right. Next time I'll just stay out of the conversation unless I can disagree in a productive manner. Maybe you can do the same.

you guys are right that it's difficult to filter all the BS from the real info, but this resonates with me as TRUTH. I believe I feel it coming and it's geting stronger every day.

according to the videos in my upper post, the trajectory of the comet is such that we will start witnessing severe events just next weekend (sept 3-4). damn, that's close. have you seen this video (made in Hawai at 4600m. altitude)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3661LUl1Lik

if it's already so obviously visible in the southern hemisphere, they can't hide it much longer. Any chance someone from the south part of the globe to confirm if they can see it?

I just hope that the people and the society have grown enough to act properly and respectfully to each other. That's my only wish, besides that it's all so great. Love this world and am really thankful for what it gave and continues to give us!

exactly. and i'd say close to 0% of the vids on youtube about this contain any real facts at all. that's the problem when any old nut job can make a video with their phone and upload it.

like anything else i guess - it's always people with extreme views or want to complain about something that take the time to write about it etc...
