Any poker players on DJTT?

What do you believe about the live coverage with the 15min delay?

I know the pros like it, but I believe it takes away from the true nature of the game. Mainly reading your opponent. Finding out what they had in their hand 15min later takes most of that away.

Ha, exactly what I did.

80% of the time I would play sit and goes Texas Holdem or PLO. The other 20% was tournaments. Never really cared for ring games much.

well, virtually all US-facing sites do reveal the opponent's holecards. (you gotta enable the writing of hand histories in the poker client and then popular poker tracking software such as holdem manager and pokertracker shows you cards mucked at showdown in a heads-up display.)

but that's a minor point. the thing is that online poker has remained an interesting, read-based game despite such a substantial change (with HUGE implications for strategy). the same will be true of the new 15-min delay at the main event. players' strategies might change somewhat. but the shortened delay makes the game more exciting to watch.

that's important. the big poker boom is over. recreational players worldwide are scared because of the actions by the DOJ and because of the FTP disaster. almost anything that brings the fish back to the game is good. my 2c.

Poker fan here!

Texas Hold'em....for sure!

Don't get to watch it much anymore...used to be on the telly here.

We used to play at my mates house quite often...but have not for a long time.

The 2 cats we used to play with ....were VERY aggressive and competative.

Used to turn into arguments all the time!

LOL

Forgot about hand histories and to be honest didn't use poker tracker software, probably handicapped myself by not doing this, but still made ok money.

You are spot on about it keeping the game exciting, it adds another element to the game. Especially as a spectator sport, but I still prefer the old way where you don't see what goes into the muck and have to work a bit harder or pay more to get the info you need.
I can certainly see how this attracts the "fish" though, as it gives them a security blanket when they play.

It's a little difficult to trust the poker sites to start with, but after the recent events I'm sure they have lost some of their players, and are having a harder time getting new ones. So i hope this has the desired effect. I would hate to see them disappear, as it is an excellent way to learn the game and hone your skills.

For me now it's an occasional home game, or playing at the casinos (only 45min away, but rarely have time to go), but I spend most of my spare time on DJing now instead of poker. Watching the WSOP has given me a little itch to go play though.

i play. not following the wsop right now, though. (i might watch it on video later on.)

in any case, i don't believe the 15min delay thing takes much away. do you play online? at sites such as pokerstars, you can see the hand your opponent mucked at showdown directly after the hand is completed. (something which you usually don't see live as it's proper etiquette to show a presumable winning hand right away and letting your opponent muck.) that's a similarly significant change to the rules of the games. nevertheless, reads still play a tremendously important role in online poker.
