Warning: Do not Upgrade! Posted on: 29.11.2011 by Osvaldo Newhall WARNING: DON'T UPGRADE YOUR GF TO WIFEDear Tech Support Team, ... ... Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child-processes that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. ... ... In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activities. Applications such as BachelorNights 10.3 , PlayBall 5.0 , BeerWithBuddies 7.5, and Outings 3.6 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I'm believeing about going back to Girlfriend 5.0 , but the 'uninstall' doesn't work on Wife 1.0 . Please help! Thanks, "A Troubled User" REPLY: Dear Troubled User, This is a very common problem that people complain about. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0 , believeing that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It is also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 5.0 . It is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 5.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed not to allow this. (Look in your Wife 1.0 Manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child Support). I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the environment. I suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate software augmentation. The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook 1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program NagNag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software Dresses 2.1 and Jewellery 5.0. WARNING: DO NOT, under any circumstances, install SecretaryWithShortSkirt 3.3 . This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system and to your computer as well.... | |

Jenni Philippsen 01.12.2011 | That is weird, when I purchased Girlfriend 5.0 it prompted me with an error message saying cd key is in use on another system. I immediately Uninstalled the operating system and am now running Bachelor 2.0, Its even running scheduled tasks, such as Melisa on Tuesday, and Ashley on Fridays. Of course it cam pre-installed with party8.0 |
Osvaldo Newhall 01.12.2011 | @VanGogo: That was funny but so real. Nice share! |
Charline Dye 30.11.2011 | If Gobble it all up has stopped working for you, then you must have a bad version of GirlFriend 5.0 installed, or you have failed to use Return the Favor 6.9 on a regular basis to keep the program running smoothly. |
Caryn Liberato 30.11.2011 | Does any one else believe it's strange that "Gobble it all up" never got the full support it deserved, the program simply didn't run well after beta. It doesn't make sense when you consider how promising early testing was?! I'm told "Fuss & Effort Pro" can help, but I'm not sure about installing freeware that is CPU intensive and not even a 100% reliable. |

Charline Dye 30.11.2011 | I must also warn everyone about the upgrade from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0. In the late 80's I tried this upgrade for the first time. The upgrade seemed to change very little at first, but over time Wife 1.0 kept adding other programs like Redecorate 2.1, FixStuff 24.7, NagNag 9.5, etc. making my system slow to a crawl. Also at this time Wife 1.0 didn't come with the support programs, such as Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook 1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. So I decided to wipe my hard drive clean and start over with Hand 1.0, which had always served me well. The uninstall was fairly painless as I had only been using Wife 1.0 for a short time. Hand 1.0 was stable reliable and free of the bloated software that came with Wife 1.0. I, however, decided to upgrade to Girlfriend 5.0 again not realizing the upgrade path leads to Wife 1.2. This newer 90's version at least came with the support programs Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0, Cook 1.5 and DoLaundry 4.2. Unfortunately the newer version also came with Fertility 2.0 which upgrades to Rugrats 2.5 with out notice. I discovered this too late. It was impossible to change back to Girlfriend 5.0 with out doing major damage to my system. Over time I just got used to the new programs Wife 1.2 would occasionally add like DiaperChange 5.417, Recital 6.2, NagNag 9.5, and the like. Then, Wife 1.2 required that I also start using Hand 1.0 again. To me it was unacceptable to have a perfectly fine (other than being a resource hog) operating system that would require me to use another lighter version operating system just to do one task. So after contacting Tech Support to find out the best program to use to uninstall Wife 1.2 (Lawyer 5.1 which is expensive) the long involved process of uninstalling began. The addition of Rugrats 2.5 made the uninstall extremely difficult, but in time everything was running smoothly again with Hand 1.0 and the occasional use of SexBuddy 4.0, and HookUp 7.4. After a few years of absolutely no trouble with my system other than the occasional virus like CrazyBitch 8.3 or DrySpell 6.0, I came across the latest version of Girlfriend 5.0 which seemed way better than all previous versions. This version's manual promised no upgrade to Wife 1.3 would be necessary, and it also came with Clean 2.5, Sweep 3.0,and DoLaundry 4.2 already installed. I also checked first (having learned my lesson with Wife 1.2) to see if it came with Rugrats 2.5 or BiologicalTickingClock 2.4, and it did not! This version of Girlfriend 5.0 seemed too good to be true. Fortunately for me the manual was correct. I had finally found the best version of Girlfriend 5.0 ever made. Having learned my lessons with Wife 1.0 and 1.2, I used this latest version of Girlfriend 5.0 for several years to see if it would start adding other programs I didn't want. No upgrades or additions were added, and there wasn't even a pop up asking to add additional software. After researching what had gone wrong with my previous upgrades from Girlfriend 5.0 to Wife 1.0 and 1.2, I discovered the first 2 versions of Girlfriend 5.0 were never ment to be upgraded. They were buggy and full of bloatware to start with and an upgrade to Wife 1.0 was just doomed from the start. After a few years of running the latest version of GirlFriend 5.0 and researching for bugs and security holes, I realized I had found the perfect operating system. So to keep this best version of Girlfriend 5.0 as my permanent operating system, I upgraded to Wife 1.3 and have been happy ever since. The moral of my story..... Start with a stable version of Girlfriend 5.0 first. Put it through it's paces for a number of years first to find any security holes or bugs. If any are found, scrap it and go back to Hand 1.0 for a while. Rinse and repeat untill you find the best version of Girlfriend 5.0 first. Then your upgrade to Wife 1.0 should be the only time you ever need to upgrade. Also be extremely careful not to get the CrazyBitch virus! This virus sometimes works exactly like Girlfriend 5.0 in the beginning and can be almost impossible to get rid of. |
